Great trail, get the best of both worlds, shady in the woods, and openness in the sun, great views of the Olympics. Trail is in great shape, a few wet muddy spots, but mostly dry.

Lots of people enjoying the nice sunny weather today but also a lot of people not wearing masks

Great short hike during this 77 degree weather. Didn't need to use spikes for the last bit of the trail with snow

This trail never got dull, in fact, this is the first trail that I haven’t finished. I didn’t finish the trail because I spent too much time at the bridge. The breeze off the waterfall felt amazing! I’m doing this one again for sure even though it was crowded for my liking.

I did this hike a couple weeks ago and it is no joke. When they it’s difficult they mean it - the trail is steep the entire way down and back up, and I definitely recommend good hiking boots and sticks. Parts of it are quite rocky and slippery but there are plenty of trees to grab for support. I have the physique of a corgi so there were several times I was tempted to just lie down and let the forest consume the remains of my mortal flesh, but the falls at the bottom were worth everything.

Wonderful views...well worth the trip. So glad I took advantage of today's free admission. Planned on getting a recreational pass but it takes a few days and stumbled on the free days. I couldn't stop taking pictures. There were beautiful views all around. I will come better prepared next time with snow shoes, pant protectors and treking poles.

Great hike the last bit of the hike is through snow fields but perfectly doable set up hammocks and watched the sun heat up the mountain and send cascading avalanches down to the lakes edge. Absolutely incredible highly recommended

Ropes were difficult. If you’re afraid of heights I don’t recommend it. On a Saturday. Start time 10am. Don’t bother. Too many people when it was a nice weekend. Go during the week and early. Luckily we were okay but spent a lot of time waiting for ropes to be clear at the top and coming down. Only one person at a time. Also, 100% worth the wait. Just expect extra time for this.

Very crowded today, counted 335 people total when we started the hike at 9:30am! There are some snowfields you’ll have to deal with, micro spikes and/or poles are super helpful. Start early since the snow in the afternoon sun turned into a slushy mess, postholing and slipping became unavoidable.

Morning hike - TOTALLY worth waking up early and to beat part of the crowd on a weekend. Arrived at 8:20am on a Saturday (free park day), lot was 70% full. Bathrooms closed. Fallen trees and branches about halfway up the hike required some maneuvering Reached the top at 10:50am, hung out for over an hour just soaking in the sun. Deeper snow still covering the last mile or so of the trail and the lake itself. Microspikes are a MUST. Saw some folks without them slipping around and slowing down the rest of us :P Lovely hike. Totally doable on a weekend - don’t get discouraged by the crowds, just get there early enough to avoid em!

Snow shoes highly recommended. Didn’t see anyone on the trail without at least crampons. Spikes will not help you get through the deep snow after about the first quarter mile. Saturday 4/16 pure blue sky and you could see all the way to Hood. AMAZING

8am parking lot already full. On way back ran into so many people and people are parked all the way to the main road. Beautiful falls, definitely go to the lower falls as that’s where the large one is at. There are some steep stairs to maneuver, but otherwise a nice hike out in nature.

Trail head parking is very easy to drive to. Started at 7:30am on Friday to try to beat the crowds. Only saw a couple people on the way up, but did encounter congestion on the way down. Mostly shaded until the maintained trail ends. Did not see this being as hard as other similar hikes, but to me, it was much more technical and dangerous past the “end of maintained trail” sign. Past that, be prepped for slippery/lose gravel, a rocky ridge line, and a bit of a tight scramble to reach the destination. Personally, I don’t see how this portion is safe or doable when there’s even moderate trail traffic. No contest, the view at the top is beautiful

First hike after moving to WA. What an amazing experience! Snow is melting, although spikes would still help a lot for the last 0.5 miles or so. We had the entire lake to ourselves for about a whole hour. Can’t wait to visit here again during the summer!

I am a regular hiker and this was a crazy dangerous hike. The ropes are sketchy, the last scramble is very dangerous. I saw one man coming down shaking from sheer fear. This hike is best for experienced climbers with proper equipment.

Great trail when it’s sunny. If you’re a pro photographer, plenty of ops on the way to the vista. Seattle looks pretty amazing. The trail itself is pretty easy to navigate. It earns it’s difficulty, but is more on the easy side. I would have gone the whole route, through wildcat trail, but my gps was dying and I get lost easily. Saw quite a few hikers and the lot was nearly full. Discovery pass required.

Please please please if anyone finds a black insulin pump (black box about the size of your palm with arrow and center buttons on it), please contact Mary or Andrew Kain on FB. We lost it on Friday April 16, 2021 at the Green Mountain/Gold Creek Trailhead. We think we put it on top of the car and drove away. Andrew is a diabetic and needs his pump. Thank you

rest rooms still closed. parking lot was less than 50% at 830am. a few trees over the trail require a quick scramble. I could not use poles only to complete the trek to the lake. the last .3 mile the snow on the incline was too slick. very disappointing but alias safe for another trail.
