on Bench Trail

Easy hike under the tree canopy. Saw a deer on the trail as well as squirrels, plenty of birds, lizards, and only one snake (which was fine with me)

Have to say this trail was a bit of a disappointment after the amazing trip on the rim trail. To me it was too much like walking up my dirt road. Saying that it was wide and relatively easy and I wasn’t as worried about seeing a snake. There aren’t a lot of views on the trail but there is lots of history. Would love for the park to someday bring some of that history to life. I did find that part interesting. Was surprised to see Fern lake on the path but really wish they would consider cleaning it up a bit. All in all it is a good workout just not as exciting since their weren’t as many views. I did love getting a view of the rim trail to see how high I was the day before.

We hiked this trail last weekend. It is by far one of my favorites. So many beautiful views even in the middle of summer. There was just enough challenge without being too hard. I don’t recommend bringing pets or young children to this one but is absolutely AMAZING!

great for novice hikers. Great views along the entire rim of beautiful Mt Nebo.

Good trail approx. 4mi around. Rickety chain and wood suspension bridge. Plenty of great photo opts along the creek. Falls dry this time of year. Some light bouldering. Lake just off the trail. Nice places to swim water nice and refreshingly cold this time of year. I’d do this trail again in the spring or fall to get the waterfalls experience.

Trail is well maintained and marked. Connects to multiple overlooks and bluffs with rest areas and trash disposal. Views are gorgeous. Well worth the hike.

Awesome easy trail!! You can bring your dogs, and it is all paved and even has equipment to help you stretch certain muscles along the way!

On 7/15/18, I hiked both this and the Yellow Rock trails, which I suggest doing. The FF trail was nice and peaceful, and provided me with various opportunities to explore the creek bed. The YR trail was more vertical, and provided numerous spectacular vistas. To top it off, there is a knee-deep “swimming hole” near the YR trailhead.

Love this trail, but it really could use better signage at crossroads areas towards the end.

Today there were so many spiderwebs over the path and it was overgrown in areas, so not recommended in sandals.

Saw lots of wildlife, including a woodchuck, several deer, and some tiny frogs.

Water is really low right now so creek crossing isn't an issue.

Difficult trail, tons of steep climbing and switchbacks. No really pretty scenic views, but the trail itself is pretty.

Great trail for a newer hiker. Took the family on this one. They got a little hot but did great. Will probably hike this one again. .

Fun trail for running with a lot of rock and root hopping. A single loop, as measured by the GPS on my Garmin Fenix 3 is 2.6 miles.

Beautiful easy to moderate hike. Actually is more like 3.5 miles. Shady all the way around and opportunity to see some wildlife.

Beautiful rocky trail with a few climbs and ledges. Passed some of the park cabins and residences. Mix of bluffs, forest and rocky areas. Definitely worth the hike at this beautiful state park.

I give it a 4 star for the area. It lacks super scenic views, but is still a very pretty hike with a variety of landscapes to see. It does have some pretty good climbs and this can be a challenge for those not in hiking shape, both from the distance and a handful of the climbs.

Be careful of ticks, both my dog and I picked up quite a few, likely due to some of the grassy areas you walk through.

I stopped here passing through on my way back to Colorado and thoroughly enjoyed the hike overall!

It is mostly well-marked, but I used this AllTrails recording because there are a few spots where it isn't very clear where you are supposed to go without it, and it isn't all "technically" the Sunset Trail. That ends somewhere around West Mountain Drive and then you pick up other trails from there back to the Gulpha Gorge Campground.

I had great ride. first time on trail. some water on trail due to recent rain, but it made it fun and challenging ride for me. Didnt realize I would have to wade across river twice, about knee deep on may 5th.

I really enjoying doing this trail as a alternative to climbing up Pinnacle.

Great trail! Take your water!! You're going to need it once youve hit the dam. If you take a dog, take it for them also. No water source after you cross over and back across the creek. Its a quick 1.5 hour round trip hike with a couple of water break stops. You can take longer around the bluff for hammocking and climbing down to the lake and back up!! It's a free climb! Great trail, except going into summer, trail gets high with grass, ticks and lots of snakes too!

Really liked the trail but it was poorly marked and confusing so I missed a loop.

Lightly trafficked, good trail running. Can stay wet after some decent rain. Description says 4.9 mi but it’s logged at 6.5 +

Didn't know what to expect knowing it was a bike trail... Loved it!! Hiked the west side of Outlaw Loop and the Sawmill Loop where we crossed over at 2.4 miles. The river was up after recent rains so the trail had numerous waterfalls/cascades and little creeks to cross... We put on our water sandals to cross Lee Creek which was about calf high... Had to be careful!! We decided to skip Racer's Hill and start back finishing up on the east side of Sawmill and Outlaw Loop back to Campground A... only there we were unable to cross the white water creek!! We followed the trail along the river which connected to the river side of Devil's Den Trail until we saw the highway bridge we could cross over and walked the road back to Campground A adding about 1.6 miles... total loop was about 6 miles... Looking forward to doing it again!!

First 2/3 of the trail is great and well marked. It gets increasingly more confusing as you near the end. You will walk through downtown so be prepared for that... everyone looks at ya funny if ur sweaty, but it’s kinda a right of passage. Balanced rock (done on this recording) is easy to miss. The summit wasn’t that impressive, but worth the small additional hike. I didn’t do the goat overlook because

I removed 1 star because of all the broken glass on trail. The park needs to prohibit glass containers - this is the worst litter that I’ve experienced and such a busy trail! Beautiful views!

Coming from West Monroe Louisiana, this is as good as it gets in my book. About 4 hours from home, solid climbs, rocky descents, and the perfect distance to refuel back at the car for another loop. Well marked in most places but has a few trails that come together close to the Gorge, just adds a little variety!!
My favorite training spot so far when I can make the trip!
