Be aware that while the trail itself is moderate I believe the distance listed is way off. The map and description indicated a round trip distance of 4.8 miles but to get to the actual falls at the cliff it was 4.8 miles one way.

My wife and I have done this hike 2 years in a row, and we've enjoyed it both times. About 10 miles of moderate ups and downs. we hiked the AT approach trail side first and then at lunch at the Hike Inn, with 4 miles or so of gentle downhill back to the falls.

Did this trail back in March, wonderful views and long enough for a great workout.

Great views during our December hike, while headed up and down, 360 degrees at the top. My only criticism is too few markings in several locations where trail forks, making AllTrails GPS location checks necessary. Be certain to check your location at the top Bald area, and walk the entire loop indicated on the AllTrails App, including towards the rock-faced area on the Northern side...great views at the edge!

Lovely waterfalls! Pretty nice for yoga

Great weekend of hiking and camping. The trail was hard the weekend I went because of all the rain and slippery rocks and mud.

Tough at first but view is amazing!!

A great hike to do and the overlook spots had beautiful views.

It was raining when i went. looked like there would have been a great view on a sunny day. I'll definitely go back though when i can see that overlook.

great views on an awesome trail. Near the top are a row of privies provided by Army.

Well maintained trail and highly trafficked. Would be nice for a trail run if not so crowded.

Tough climb up but the view on the top of the rock about 1 mile in is fantastic!! It makes all that climbing worth it!!

Great trail! Hike about a half mile before you have the option to go right or left. I went left and it was great. You can go either way since it’s a loop and you see the same stuff. The trail is marked with almost a neon green paint on the trees. It’s not like every other tree sometimes you can go a quarter mile or longer before you see a marking. But it is pretty obvious which way to go. I also had service the entire trail so i was able to open this app and check the trail and see where i was at with the GPS. Watch out for bikers- especially if you have a dog off-leash. I’d either keep it on leash or just make sure the dog knows to move out of the way. There’s a nice creek that is there for probably about half of the trail that is easy to get to.
The trail was wide for a decent amount of it, wide enough to hike 2x2. Some areas it’s skinner so it’s 1x1. But none of the trail was washed out or dangerous. I hiked with my dog and we had no issues. The uphills are pretty gradual nothing crazy steep. Pretty easy.

Lots of people! Great views! Wonderful waterfalls! Just. Go. Early. Or go on a weekday. Great gift shop for last minute forgotten items. Friendly staff!

steep but worth the view at Cow Bald.

A must if you in the area. Multiple waterfalls and campsites along the route. Well maintained

Looking up from the parking lot was intimidating, my wife and I joked about doing the winery instead. We are 60+ hikers and don’t give up easily, so up we went, and made it to the top. Apple watch says 5.06 miles, 1542 feet elevation, 3 hours and 19 seconds, including lunch and photo stops. This was a cool November hike, so no wildflowers or leaf colors, but the views were spectacular, well worth the effort.

Great workout and views. Can be busy during nice times of the year.

excellent short hike!

Byron-Reece to Freeman and then up the backside of Blood Mountain via the AT is the easier direction of travel. As other reviewers say, this is a challenge and took a solid 5 hours with stops for pics and lunch, but it’s a great hike in the fall/winter. Trekking poles will make life easier. Be sure to head east on the AT for about 100 yards at the intersection of Byron-Reece and Freeman to see the balancing boulder.

This is our new favorite waterfall trail. Several beautiful falls before the big one. Can’t believe how this little creek makes such huge noisy falls. Trail is easy, did some rock hopping to get up to see the falls come through the cliff. Didn’t climb to the top, that looked very steep and treacherous. Started around 10, lots of parking spaces. Finished around 1. Parking was scarce.

This is one of my N Ga favorites. Great views at the top, rugged trails, and always a few other happy hikers! All the trails are well marked and easy to follow, but it’s not just a nature walk so be prepared.

This is a great.view with a great hike!

Had a great day. Beautiful scenery. Will do again in the near future.

Pleasant trail. Many viewpoints along the canyon ridges. Expect heavy traffic on weekends...

Hiked this past weekend, super crowded day on the AT. Lots of people at all the overlooks. Looped back on the Freeman Trail which was far less populated.

Beautiful scenery. Absolutely beautiful during fall whenever the leaves are changing.
