Pleasant trail. Many viewpoints along the canyon ridges. Expect heavy traffic on weekends...

Beautiful scenery. Absolutely beautiful during fall whenever the leaves are changing.

Very good trail. 2.6 miles and worth the effort! Watch out for a lot of roots along g the path though. I'd give it a moderate rating.

Gorgeous!! The hike would be classed MODERATE as rated. Mainly because of the roots and rocks one has to navigate on virtually the whole trail. The views are incredible and we caught the Fall foliage just at the right time!! November 3rd was a perfect day for our hike. I recommend this to all my hiking friends.

Beautiful and a good hike with some challenging parts! Crowded at the beginning/end. Do the waterfalls trail while you’re there!

Great overlooks. Beautiful fall colors Nov 4th. We got there about 1030 and not awful crowded but on the way out near the beginning of the trail lots of hikers just arriving. Glad we came on the earlier side! Took us a little over 2 hours. This trail has some ups/downs but a good deal of fairly level walking too. Definitely lots of roots and rocks.

Wow! Beauty all around but it was definitely a Moderate hike. So many rocks and roots to navigate along the way but worth it. Just have to take your time. The water, rock formations and multiple lookouts were spectacular. Leaves were peak so lots of people. Go early and you might get some peaceful moments!

Tough to beat!

I day-hiked this trail today (10/25/18) and really enjoyed it. It has some great scenery and the water supply is abundant. It’s a shame that some folks litter and don’t exercise any respect for the outdoors & nature. I will say that the majority of the litter was around “the swimming hole”. I do plan to return and hike this trail again and also do some camping.

Scenery is absolutely amazing! The overlooks are breathtaking.

Great hike with beautiful scenic views. The stairs are the only real challenge.

Thanks for the Memories

Awesome trail! My 15 year old son and I hiked this in the morning of our second day of a three day backpack trip. Coming off the Pinhoti trail the first of two miles are a steep decent with the second being a gradual decent into the Turnipseed campground. 1/4 mile on either side of Turnipseed offers excellent camping spots with reliable water sources. Cheaha falls has multiple excellent camping spots with a shelter located about 1/8 mile up the trail heading towards the Devils Den falls. Most of this trail is under canopy; a beautiful hike which should take between 4-6 hours depending on your load and number of breaks you take!

This is a beautiful spot and a gorgeous waterfall. There are several steps but there is a guard rail . It is a easy walk.

Great trail with lots of variety ie. Waterfalls, streams, big rocks, beautiful overlooks.

Awesome, the stairs to the falls was tough.

I did an overnighter on this trail last weekend. Very nice trail. Got a little lost at the shelter which was actually fun. Plenty of water sources available as well as campsites. If you overnight you will have to park by the Turnipseed campsite off 281. They’ve closed the campground at Chinnabee Park so no overnight parking. Take the time to explore Devils Den. The trail is at the ridge top so you will either need to go down one of the many little trails or hike in from the park staying down by the water. All in all, great trip.

This hike DOES NOT include DeSoto falls. Can an administrator with Alltrails please revise? Desoto falls is north of here a few miles. I have it in my "activity feed" for reference.

I agree with a previous reviewer. An easily moderate trail for sure and I say more than easy only because of the stairs. Only recommendation I would give is to wait until beginning to mid October whenever the leaves start to turn and the trees aren’t grown up as much for the many overlooks. Overall I loved this trail and I didn’t even trek down to the falls.

Poorly maintained. Overgrown in spots and poorly marked. The beavers have left so no pond. Take a hint from the beavers and try another trail.

Need to plan next time to stay here and maybe stay in one of the yurts. Only got to do the loop and one of the falls - Cherokee. So need to go back and do the other trails and falls.

I have to agree with the other reviews. It is a very steep trail but it is worth the effort when you get to the river it offers spectacular views. I loved this trail and would recommend it.

I would not recommend this trail at all. It is very poorly maintained. Very overgrown and hard to get through the weeds. The "pond" was just a mud hole. Don't waste your time there are so many beautiful trails close by that this one isn't worth the effort.

Did this trail last year. It's short but spectacular and the peacefulness down on the river is soothing.
The climb back up is a tough one. Take your time.
I spoke with a local and they told me that they used to have concerts down in the gorge. There is old concrete picnic tables, a foundation of an old concession stand and blocks. They said there was a cable lift that lowered the bands and equipment into the gorge. And the Band Alabama is from there, Randy owns a large spread on the mountain, they used to play there back in the day.
