This is not the exact route that we backpacked, but I think this could be said of the entire Cumberland Island trail system:

Easy hiking with gorgeous views that range from live oak groves to historic plantations to flawless beaches to stands of conifer. What's not to love? This place served as a perfect early spring backpacking getaway.

Very few people and tons of wildlife including wild horses, dolphins, and a cougar!

There was one hiccup as we were trying to rush to camp before dark one night, and were confronted by a flooded trail closure halfway across the Willow Pond Trail. That made for a dark and stressful hike back. Some signage at the start of the trail would have been appreciated.

Been there blazing that trail it's a great trail that was back in Middle and high school. the Bayard conservative was SJRWM program for students to learn and leave a positive impact on natural environment around the area. I would recommend it for any and every one to take that hike and/or go out there and camp. they have two primitive camp sites on the trail.

It was a beautiful trail, well maintained but with the recent rains be prepared to get very wet. I would say 50% of trail you are ankle to knee deep. We will go back when it’s a little dryer.

Beautiful trail covered with Oak trees and palmettos. Took the main road up to my campsite at Hickory Hill, then Parallel Trail back down to the dock... much more pleasurable than the main road! Went in July so it was pretty hot, and the mosquitoes were horrible. Bring extra repellent.

not well traveled or properly maintained the overgrown firebreaks make for a better trail in some places. until maintenance is done you would be better off choosing a different trail.

Not properly marked or maintained.

very beautiful , we had a blast With our dogs, some parts of the trail were muddy from the rain, and we got a few ticks on each of us. But i will be back!

Dog friendly trail. But for some they think that means no leash. Keep them on a leash. Leash laws still exist. Ive been hiking this trail for years. Nice and close to home. Nice get away from the hustle and bustle.

This is a beautiful spot where you can do either casual walking in the lower ravine or around the rim or more vigorous hiking along the trail in the ravine. When the azaleas bloom the whole place is covered in pink, red, and white flowers. There are many birds and butterflies that call this area home or migrate through. Parts of it feel almost other-worldly and in slower seasons it is a very peaceful retreat from busy life.

Had a great time taking out the pup. It’s quite open so prepare to deal with the heat. Outside of that it offers many different activities due to its shear size. The foliage is beautiful and the multiple different loops gives you options depending on what mood you are in.

Decently maintained trails crossed paths with two snakes.

Fun trail down to the Shoals, not something you can see everyday in Florida. Definitely worth going to.

Floods pretty often and you won’t be able to walk out to the lookout. Still worth visiting and making the attempt

Its alright. The Big Shoal trail itself is pretty nice and well maintained but if you continue on past it they have blocked it off one way for prescribed burning and the other way takes you to a maze of flooded out trails that will require some backtracking.

nice trails and great campsite by the river. be sure to bring enough water as neither of the 2 pitcher pumps on the property work.

very cute and very easy to hike! however the majority of it was flooded after heavy rains the few days before we went so we didn’t get to see all of it, only reason i did 4 stars and not 5, but i saw a gator so that’s cool! definitely want to go again when i can walk the whole thing!

Very sandy in areas, pretty sure I ran in circles at times, saw heaps of wild life- Birds, turtles, and a huge snake.

It’s not really a trail, is a gravel road. There are several small trails that branch off and are worth exploring.

My friend and I hiked this trail yesterday. This was one of the best trails I've seen so far. The river being right there beside you with the rapids makes for a unique experience for Florida. I do suggest bug spray as there are mosquitoes here with all the water in the area. I will be going back here again sometime.

The trail was very enjoyable going up and down the ravines. It's definitely one of Florida hilliest trail.

Easy and beautiful.

Beautiful hike, perfect weather and it was the 22nd annual Azalea bloom today. Just gorgeous.

Very Sandy, no single track, nothing to see to distract from the boring double track while pushing thru tons of sand

Beautiful hike and easy to follow. Completed 8 miles roughly but be aware the trail is flooded at various points(calf deep) and you should have waterproof boots unless you want soaked boots by the 2nd mile like myself. Still will go back :)

Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking and relaxing. I felt like I was in a secret garden.

I always love to visit Morning Side! Before you set out on a trail, you can say hello to Penny the cow and feel what it was like back in old Florida.
There are different trails you can set out on. You can either go for a full circle, or decide to take some short cuts.

Nice 6.5 mile hike on a well traveled trail. We didn't see any wildlife on this trail but they had just completed a controlled burn.

Followed a nice out and back trail to the Red camping area. The AllTrails app only shows the White trail loop but there are several trail options in this area with two places to camp. We saw lots of wildlife once we were off the main trail.

Awesome little hike on our way to St Augustine!

Hiked to the camping area by the river to test out new gear. this was during a cold spell in november
camped over night and I had a great time. planning to go back next weekend on the 26th of January. I'm going to try for a few days this time. great trails and the river is beautiful here
