Easy trail, great for a quick nature walks and to get kids used to hiking. Beautiful gardens beautiful Trees. Great for meditation.

Great, beautiful challenging hike. My family are all avid hikers and this one was a bit difficult because of the rocks. I have weak ankles and even with wearing hiking boots with great support, two days after the hike it feels like my ankle has a mild sprain. However, DO NOT let that keep you from going on this hike! I loved it so much! We went down the area with the ropes and followed the shore all the way past the shipwreck and then up the steep hill back to the road. We didn’t stop at all because we were concerned about high tide closing us in, but we were still out there at high tide. The path was pretty narrow in some spots, but didn’t keep us from going through. We loved all the little crabs in between the rocks as we went! The only thing that I wasn’t too fond of was the seaweed. It was very slippery! We took a 8 and 10 year old. The 8 year old had a hard time by the end, but he doesn’t go on as many hikes as my son (the 10 year old). If you just want to see the shipwreck, I recommended going backward on the trail from this map and then going back. It’s much shorter and easier for those who don’t want to deal as much with the rocks. We started about 8 am and finished about 12 pm. We didn’t see any other hikers the whole time, just every once in a while we would see people fishing.

The views were amazing, but I'm not really sure the hike should be rated at "hard". There is minimal ascending or descending. Great for a few hours and head past the shipwreck for more amazing views.

Nice gentle walk along the cliff.

An amazingly beautiful hike!!! Took two groups there and it was really great fun! We used the rope to get down the cliff which was a great call and hiking along the water is fun and challenging at the same time. We actually climbed up the cliff about a half a mile after the shipwreck and then it’s about an 8 minute drive back to the car! I highly recommend this hike!!!

Nice short walk, great for kids.

Forgot they are closed on Mondays. Hiked the regional park instead.

It does not make a loop it's strictly going down hill and then coming back up. Definitely a good work out! There are a lot of little trails around the main trail.

Great place to hike !!! Easy to get to .
Hikes are easy and scenic. Buy a annual pass if you plan on coming back . It's a great deal !!!

This map leads you to a trailhead that is about 3+ miles from the shipwreck. I may have missed the actual trailhead because I just went straight down to the beach and started scrambling over rocks. It was a tough walk doing the full 3 miles. Definitely wear good hiking boots with ankle support and check for low tide. I wouldn't bring a dog. All the rocks would have to be rough on their paws. When leaving I doubled-back for about a mile and took a trail up to the main road. You could start nearer these entrance trails to reduce your rock hiking. There are a few off of Palos Verdes Drive.

Love this trail especially all the tide pools at the end...

Lovely hike.

Parking cost $6

Nice view of the ocean from parts of this trail, but the majority of this hike is on a wide, dirt road. This would have been more pleasant on a cooler day or earlier in the day, at only 78 degrees+ it was brutal. Some shade, benches or a water fountain on the trail (like at Runyon Canyon) would be nice for these hot days.

Very cool. Needs sturdy shoes with good wet-grip. Check the high-tide time or you will be soaked up to your waist when passing some locations.

More of a walk through a neighborhood instead of a hike.

Great little trail. Well maintained.

Very nice, I should have got here a little earlier, a lot of people. Parking was $7.

I see new things each time I come here

Love this 2 mile hike, walk it 3-4 times a week and always a joy. constantly greeted along the trail by squirrels, rabbits, lizards, birds and the turtles.
if you just want a quiet place to be with nature, there are many areas along trails to sit on benches and take it all in. Early morning and later afternoons are my favorite times.

This was an okay hike, if you take the trail counter clockwise you have a steady climb and can dip into Discovery Well Park to add a few more yards. On a Saturday morning this area is jam packed full of people (as expected). I feel as though this would be better for running than backpacking and though I gave it 3 stars I will return with running in mind.

Here’s the low down....yes, the trail is all rocks, but check when low tide is and go then. The rocks aren’t tough to get through at all and the hike is AWESOME! You can bring your dog and he doesn’t have to be on a leash. Put “Shipwreck Trail” in Apple Maps and it takes you to the entrance where you can walk down the pipeline (it’s a barely visible entrance to the right of a house). Once you pass the shipwreck, keep walking and exploring until you find the exit trail and walk back to your car via the road.

I explored a little further down the beach past the exit and found some really cool spots to hang and watch the ocean. Check it out....you won’t regret it at all!

Absolutely love hiking here. Last year it was too foggy to see much though. This year we could not only see the hillside but also the sand and surf below. Very beautiful!
Only caveat is that there are several trails. You have to pick one and pay attention to the signs or your app or else you may end up doing a much more longer or more difficult hike than planned!!

The map given does not account for the switch back trails you can use on the ocean facing side of the hill. There are really nice views and this hike can take you in a few different directions and slight elevation changes. If you have time, follow a different path with the trail markers. It's hard to get lost. It's not a huge area. Remember where you parked and head in that general direction when you want to get back. Trails go from paved, to decomposed granite, to sidewalks in neighborhoods, back to trails. It just depends on what you are in the mood for, and what kind of time you have. It's a peaceful hike/jog. I take my dog all the time. Allowed on leash, and pick up after them. Doggie poo bag stations can be found at intervals if you forgot your own.

The views were amazing! However, it was extremely hard to identify where to continue on the trail despite referring to the map on the app. After a few minutes I was just over it.

That hill coming back up was ooowee!!! But I’ll do it again. Nice walk

I really love this place
