lots of stairs but fairly quick! As someone who doesn't hike this took me about an hour and a half.

I felt that this was a confusing guide as the loop indicated on this app was hard to find when we got to the trailhead. There are many different options of ways to wander around at this park and I’d go again, but I’d need to do more research outside of this guide.

Absolutely fabulous. Now that I have been there, the route is easy. Caution if terrain navigating. 2nd largest slot canyon on NA very close.

Great trail for almost any skill level, only one real uphill section pretty level otherwise. nice relaxing hike with plenty of scenery. Very easy trail to follow, I never needed my maps, plenty of cairns.

This is the most unique place on the planet. You don’t even believe it’s Earth. It’s like staring into a prehistoric era. Unbelievable!!!

People who are worried about getting to trailhead with a non 4x4 vehicle, don’t! I got there with my Toyota Sienna minivan and was fine if I drove slowly.

I lucked out and got a walk in permit the first time trying ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!!! Got last # that was called out!

I started early (I stayed at the Stateline campground the night before so would have a quick drive) since I can’t handle high heat very well. It was nice and cool. Trail isn’t very well marked so follow the pictures in your booklet that the ranger gives you when you get your permit! I found a couple who got lost not doing that.

Most of hike is just exposed rock and sand. Saw some random wildflowers when I went through. The Wave portion itself (and if you go just a tad further will see similar formations some call the 2nd wave) is incredible.

I got out before noon since, by then, the heat was getting to me. Worth the hike!

Awesome Sunrise Hike Today❣️Amazing Incline Workout-Hard Hike to Summit but so rewarding with great views of Camel Back, Squaw Peak, etc.....bathrooms on site and plenty of parking, no charge!

Great trail with a nice shadow cast in the mornings on most of the trail. Clean and well kept with the trail being made from Lois rocks most of the way. Great for myself and my family (dog included).

This was an amazing experience...We went on a cold, rainy, somewhat snowy day in March. We are so thankful that we hired a guide out of Kanab who had a vehicle that could get in and out. Rain on clay is almost worse than ice in Minnesota. The weather did not dampen the experience and the weather cleared just as we arrived at the Wave. We are glad that we dressed in weather appropriate layers. We received our lottery ticket in the online drawing 3 months ahead....and there were almost 300 in line the day before. So it really is the luck of the draw.

Amazing scenery! We were lucky with weather but unfortunately the falls were dry. Still worth the hike u won’t be disappointed. We had our Goldendoodle and she loved it too

Super quick hike/walk. Keep going until you reach the top with views over the city. I almost stopped, thinking I was at the end, but thankfully kept going up.

Do not go without a permit. BLM and the sheriff check several times a day. The fine is huge not to mention federal court and the bad karma from doing the wrong thing to Mother Nature.

Protecting the wave and surrounding area is critical. It is fragile beauty.

It took us 8 months but we finally won a permit. The effort was worth it. No one can really describe the mind boggling beauty of this hike.

It is as though you are on another planet. Enter the lottery every month until you are awarded a permit. It is truly the golden ticket.

Sandy in areas which is exhausting. Take the detailed map you get with your permit. We used it way more than I thought we would. You are on your own out there.

The ranger will stop you and examine your permit. Writing down the details. They keep careful track of who is out there.

Seriously, Your poor dog. I've heard of everything now.. wow!

fantastic

Great hike if you want to beat the crowd at Squaw Peak summit trail.

We did the full 11 mike loop. Gorgeous and easy to follow the trail. So many mosquitos! TONS. I’ll be back when there are no mosquitos! Hike wasn’t too hard. We hiked it clockwise ...about 5.5hrs with breaks

it definately has opportunity to try different trails. it does spider off and connect to other trails randomly. the trail makes you feel like you're in the middle of the desert but you know that the freeway is close by. I have run into a snake before, no big deal. the wild life is very scarce. great starting area!

Amazing!

Another of my go-to trails when I can't drive far. Dixie Peak offers such a lovely 360 view.

Always a good time love this trail love the whole area people are friendly and amazing

Took my dog here and overall it was a nice hike with plenty to see, we got to about the 7 mike mark after Sycamore Falls and got lost. The trail was clearly marked and I think because of the excess of water (due to rain) we got turned around. Luckily the road was only about 2 miles from us so we found our way back

My favorite trail easy to get to in middle of the city.
Wide, clean, and easy trails great for children and dogs. Clean restrooms with limited parking.

Not too bad of a workout. I would say this is a little more of a moderate trail. I hiked up to the top with my thick, chubby one year old in my kid carrier without too much excursion and I'm not the most fit guy out there. I would definitely suggest a good pair of hiking shoes as there is an abundance of loose rock and jagged, technical terrain the closer you get to the summit. The stickiness of my Vibram outsole was a difference maker, especially going back down with an extra 40 pounds on my back.

Did this trail 2 years ago. A wonder! It’s the untouched backyard that mysteriously brings you back to the dinosaur era. 20 people per day are permitted, which means you won’t see any other human most of the time. Complete wilderness without any man made sign, so you have to notice the landscape then roam freely!

Simply stunning.
Permits are difficult to obtain though and you will lucky to get one.
The pre hike talk by the ranger can be a bit daunting too for the inexperienced hiker. You are warned about getting lost and the possibility of an overnight stay until you are found, wildlife, etc.
My better half almost never went but in the end relented.
Think it was the best decision she ever made. Take plenty water and go early to make a day of it.
Also, anything less than a SUV down the 8 mile dirt, potholed road from the interstate to the trailhead is likely to leave you with under carriage damage.

This is my “go to” trail because it’s just under an hour round-trip and it’s a good workout. Plus, it’s never crowded. Depending on when you go, the parking lot could be crowded, but that is mostly because of the mountain bikers who use the other trails. You never see a crowd on this trail. There is definitely a lot of loose rock, so you have to pay attention. And, the 1st mile or so is somewhat flat and somewhat boring. But, after that it becomes a lot more interesting. And, once you get to the top, the views are spectacular! Also, it’s a very friendly trail. Almost everyone you meet will greet you with a warm hello.

We backpacked in, they allow fires, so we brought some 4 hour logs. we also brought our dog, but the rocks were to rough on his paws. So I suggest shoes for your furry friend. I did some fishing as well. It is also very busy, with canoe guided campers, and to find a decent camp is hard.
