HikingGreat!

Great trail since I really do not like out and backs. The top was beautiful and going back down took you through some nice meadows and very little hikers.

I really like the trail. It’s not too hard, not too easy. Very little shade. Took my dog for a hike there for the first time and she loved it. Lots of bike riders.

2/20/2021. Always a delight to hike this trail for its serenity & views. Fun & somewhat a good leg workout at the last quarter mile but doable. Trekking poles I definitely used particularly on descent to save my knees & from slipping. The dry clay soil & loose rocks in the steep sections can easily cause to do just that. There are multiple off shoot trails but signages are visible for clear direction. A little bit crowded at the top. The sunny day with clear blue skies & nice breeze made it a great day to be outdoors.

went counter clockwise. nice singletrack going that way. big climbs up hill. bit on way back you can stay on oso. or go better way like me friend did. she took cougar from oso straight to sunrise to bell on the way back. it's quicker and more straight to way back.

Dry. No shade. Pretty views of the canyons in the distance but not much else. I came on a Sunday afternoon and there was plenty of free parking, but also several men hanging in their cars alone that seemed kind of sketchy. Got a weird vibe- only did two miles then headed back to the parking lot. Wont be back.

Peaceful with some nice grades for a great hike! A bit rocky in some clay soils but since the trail was dry, we had no footing problems. Mission manzanita starting to bloom and the ceanothus will soon as well. Not bad for a place called hell!

A great trail. Some snow/ice in the shadier patches but no microspikes needed. As everyone mentions, it gets easier after mile 2. Wind gusts on the summit were strong but there were plenty of protected spots to rest and snack. There were a handful of cars waiting at the guard stop at 8am. Just note that if the ranger says he’ll be right back, that could mean 15 minutes, he still wants you to wait at the guard gate NOT drive on to the trailhead.

First two miles were definitely the challenging part. Small sections of snow, but no microspikes needed. Really beautiful views at the top.

HikingGreat!No shade

Ample free parking. Well signed trail and trailhead. Clean, well maintained trail. Not too steep, not too crowded. No snakes or mountain lions (today!). No shade. Great views at the top. Go CCW around the loop for a little bit less steep ascent.
