Such a beautiful hike! Great for picnicking at the lake up top. Good hike for children- smaller kids should be carried on the second half that ascends up to the lake. Trail is narrow and not level. We are always treated to small wildlife and the water is so pretty.

Easy trail for the whole family. Hand tram is fun but bring gloves. No steep hill.

Great views of Eagle and Symphony lakes. There are about 3 campsites down towards Eagle lake and 3 or 4 more down near Symphony lake. You cannot camp in or near the shelter because of terrain. There is one tree for shade in the area. If camping there in the summer, bring your own shade. The rock scramble easily adds a few miles worth of effort to the hike.

Very fun family and dog friendly trail. Bring gloves for the hand tram.

Park at the resort much easier to find the trail this way.

The trail is reopened after the fatal mauling.
Be bear aware; this trail is part of the bears home area, bring bear spray, make noise, dont hike alone and stay together.

The trail itself is well maintained, easy to follow and clean. The last section you need to cross a boulder field, watch your step, and take your time. The first bridge is roughly half way there. We had no issue with bugs but still brought bug spray.

It is a long walk bring enough water and snacks/lunch. don't forget to bring your trash out with you.

Easy trail with a winding path up. Takes about half as long to get back down!

Good trail, really popular. Went at end of July, the flowers down by the glacier were beautiful.

Good trail. A lot of traffic on it. The hand tram was super fun to use! We will know better next time, but park at the Alyeska Resort, walk to the back of the resort and get to the Winner trailhead from there (on the left side trough the trees).

We completed this trail yesterday with my 5 year old.

The first .75 to 1 mile is a steady climb up. Once at the top if you want to get to the lake go left and follow the marked trail. if you go right there's a nice view after maybe 5 min.

The trail is easy to follow, if in spots mildly pushed in by plants. Bring bug spray.

The trail offers some beautiful views and isn't difficult. It is a popular trail so you most likely won't be the only one out there.

Great hike to a beautiful lake. At least the views that I could see below the low clouds.

Didn't really enjoy the upper section of the trail because it was like walking in a tunnel. The Lakes side portion of the trail was on a dirt road shared with ATV's and mountain bikes

the perfect hike for beginners and berry lovers

This trails goes so much further that listed. The forest is so lush don't expect to get any good views until you get much higher

Beautiful hike lots of atvs and bikes but they all slowed down for those of us who where walking.

Beautiful! Gorgeous day. Kids had a great time. Views were exellent. Didn't make it the full 25 miles around the lake but had a great time nonetheless.

this was so fun! we went yesterday 7-28-18, but the lake was so worth the climb. my Fitbit said it was a 642 elevation and it took us 45minutes to climb with my bad knee. we took our 9month old son as well loads of fun and an easy hike.

Very well maintained and fun to hike! Took us just over 3 hours to go out and back. A few good views at the gorge and on the tram, but mostly just a forest hike. I recommend starting from behind the Alyeska Lodge instead of where this says to start. There isn’t any easy parking.

I highly recommend this trail. It’s the reason I love hiking in Hatcher Pass. The parking is easy to find and usually not too busy. The trail is easy and relatively flat in the beginning and then inclines up to the lake. The view is wonderful and you can overlook the mine.

Went up a couple days ago. It's to the right of the Independence Mine as you're walking/driving up towards it. Short and easy hike up, absolutely gorgeous on a sunny day. The Lake is so clear and there's plenty of space to walk around and explore. Probably go during a weekday to avoid any crowds.

Pretty easy trail which is great with the kids. We left from the Alyeska Resort and hiked to the bus pick up at the Winner Creek Gorge. Lots of trees, moss and lush green. The hand tram was cool. Bridges and rivers make this a nice hike. We came across other hikers and families, occasional bike riders. The hand tram had a short wait. We were behind two turns on our side.
Bring bug spray and probably bear spray.

agree with other reviewers, moderate difficulty at least.

We rode to the end of the lake by the Airstrip and a black bear ran out on the trail towards the lake so they are definitely out there! The trail itself was easy for riding and the lake is beautiful!

Incredible views! Steep incline but short hike overall. The view behind you as you’re hiking up makes the incline insignificant.

This is one of my favorite hikes!! It is a short steep hike with a huge view payoff. Our kids (5 and 7) did it easily. Seriously one of the best views you can get in Alaska. Would rate as moderate, for difficulty.

Nice walk, not too many mountain views because you’re in the tree line. The snowshoeing here is great in winter!!

Was a little confused how to get to trailhead. There is free parking at end of Alberg Street on the right. I went through the ski only entrance in woods then 5-7 mins later Winner Creek trail is on the right into the woods. Lovely nature all around. Nice views along Seward Highway to get there.

Easy hike with two high-reward destinations closely accessible. The hand trolley is awesome, and the river gorge is impressive and beautiful. Access both from the road on one side or Alyeska Resort.
