Pretty solid drive, I got stuck in the snow twice because I am an idiot. That being said we used the trail network to get to St. Mary’s. Snowpack there is pretty firm, taste 7/10, texture 8/10. Some of it definitely had a distinct Cheesecake Factory smell, but that might have just been the mink poop.

My buddy and I took our trucks up here. Had a great time. I’d say the trail is moderate but there is one section that is very technical. Right next toe Quartz Hill. The right side was tough for my friend without lockers. He ended up breaking an islet arm. My Raptor did just fine.

Disclaimer!if you follow the GPS you'll come to the start of the trail there's a little turnaround area and the road leads to left with the signs saying no parking gate ahead turn around here. ignore this! there's no closed gate. While you're driving on this road there will be signs everywhere saying no trespassing private property, this road doesn't appear to be private property it is a access road to get back to all the houses that are back here. Just stay on the trail and you'll be fine. Shortly after horse trailer parking the road dirt and really smooth. I just turned around and went back. trail in took like 35min and that was stopping for pictures and waypoint entry.
Trail was moderate but on the EZ side of moderate. Some narrow paths for the first mile maybe.

really fun trail, not scenic but a nice challenge. I did this in a stock JL sport with upgrade a/t tires without too much issue.

Great trail, did this in a stock jl sport s with an average of ~3-6 inches of snow. Some parts were definitely a challenge but in dry conditions.

Trail is a good mix of fantastic view points, moderate challenges and fun trail driving weaving through trees.

Wouldn’t recommend full size trucks, may be a bit tough to navigate but not an issue for 4door Jeep sized vehicles.

Wicked climb! made it to the lakes in 70 min. then the climbing begins. fun test of your route finding and climbing skill.

Good confidence builder for a beginner. Any stock 4x4 with off road tires and no rear sway bar should be able to handle this short trail. Going east to west just after the trail begins there is a rocky rutted climb that will force you to choose a good line if you don’t have a locker. Just up from that there is an off camber where your passenger side will be rock climbing while your driver side is flirting with the edge. The rest is just a power line right of way with some minor wash outs.

Road to trailhead certainly looks like private property, but just do the "grip the wheel and don't make eye contact" thing. Only did the hill and part of the loop. Many snowy areas, lots of mud, and you can tell there are multiple holes that have been increasingly dug out by spinning tires, making the features more challenging. The 1 mile section of the loop I did (headed counterclockwise) was very tight with tricky spots that were entirely covered in snow.

In comparison to other AllTrails ratings, I would rate this firmly within Hard and certainly not Moderate. You need considerable clearance, some skill, and a spotter. Rock sliders, skid plate, rear locker, maxtrax, and hand winch all saw some action on it today, primarily due to snow, mud, and big wet roots. Drive up the hill, but do not drive down; take the Bill Moore Lake trail back to Empire. Bill Moore is rated as Hard, but the section I drove back from Red Elephant was a very easy Moderate.

Nice little trail. Just let the suspension do it’s thing in a couple of spots and threw around some mud in a few times. Not technical at all but my passengers were thrilled.

2017 JKU 2” BB lift 33” Duratracs @ 25psi. I always air down for comfort and peace of mind, regardless of technicality of trail.

Easy drive up to the fork where we ran into plenty of snow.

good, did it in my 2008 RAM stock

great trail! took a bone stock 99 Jeep Cherokee with 31" all terrain tires on this trail and made it with no problems. was able to do most difficult sections, but had to swerve around some areas because I didn't have lockers. great trail making for lots of fun

Did it in a stock 2014 Nissan frontier with my 5 year old and one year old And wife had no problems had 30 psi Leftkit would be nice but not necessary

Beautiful trail. A little tricky in some spots. Very rocky. Nice fall drive.

This was a good off-road trail. We did it with our 2004 Land Rover Discovery II stock and Copper Adventurer HT tires (yes HT). Granted that when possible we used the moderate "bypasses". For those more "difficult" sections we did take advantage of everything that our truck has to offer, 4 low range, diff lock and traction control. Bottom line, it is doable with the right rig, even stock and some experience (we did the 100 miles of the White Rim in Moab using the same Disco in exactly the same stock configuration).

would not attempt in a stock or even moderate rig. Pretty easy in my 4 seat UTV. Nice trail with some good views.

This is a beautiful trail that gets increasingly more difficult. Most of the trail I traveled was slow going, bumpy and rocky with a few sections that had me wondering but wasnt bad after doing it. There are little off shoots and trails that look fun but not many places to park and enjoy. Up until Pisgah Spur most 4x4 vehicles will be alright, however, right before there and at that section you will certainly need a more serious jeep. I could not get past that section and had to back up down the hill and thats when I got in trouble. I got stuck and had to be rescued. I was very lucky to have cell service and called Co 4x4 Rescue. They are life savers. 2.5 hours later they showed up with a convoy of jeeps in the dark and bailed me out. Needless to say I felt really stupid that day. Lifted F350. Keep this on you... 4x4 Rescue... 720.722.1204.

+Scenic

-I dont know if I managed to miss all the obstacles, but I would rate this trail easy

-i wouldn't go unless you are in an ATV, so many of them already. I was worried about hitting them as they flew around corner.

- there are better trails close by

Great easy trail. Did this in my 2018 stock JL Rubicon.

It was a good trail up until I got to a technical point that I wasn’t going to attempt for fear of damaging my 2017 Tacoma. I have a 2” lift and the trail seemed to be washed out more than usual. If I wasn’t alone or if had a winch I would’ve attempted it. I will be coming back later when I am more equipped to tackle the obstacles.

Sweet trail close to town, has a couple areas that require some ground clearance but nothing major. The Aspen trees are all starting to change color and look awesome.

Been doing this trail for years. Rough and smooth riding at times. Continued to the Rockhouse via different trail. Take map, numerous trails intersect.

went down in 2007 4runner 3inch lift and 33s. Landed on my exhuast on one part. Was alone so had to get off multiple time to make sure I didnt hit any of the fallen boulders in the middle of the road. 4runner didnt struggle just a lot of tight spots going over fallen debri.

4 runner TRD off road stock. 1.6 miles in from the start of the trail head is a very narrow section where a boulder had fallen. Some rocks are stacked up to go over it. If i had sliders and a co pilot that was more willing to stack rocks and guide me over it I would of gone all the way. Instead backed down and turned around. I'll be back once i get a lift and some other upgrades. Stock vehicles with high clearance I believe could make this just would take a lot guiding and maybe a few scratches or dings, not willing to take the risk in a new ride. Regardless the first 2 miles are a gorgeous view and was awesome getting out.

Pretty mild at first just zig zagging through the trees and some ruts to go through. Then once you get on 313 gets real fun and a little challenging for a stock vehicle. There is a trail that wasn’t on the map by the air force over look, so went and checked it out. The trail was pretty fun at first but then it gets real difficult at a rutted out turn between two trees, then goes onto being a steep v notched road that leads to a camp spot on a deadend. Probably not the best for the stock rig but made it none the less. But other than that sticking to the main trail on the map makes for a fun little trip, definitely again.

Did this with Atvs. Parked at the parking lot before you reach the trailhead. Busy on weekends but worth the trip!

Amazing drive. Can be packed on weekends depending on the time. Great views and scenery throughout the whole drive.

Disclosure: I was on two wheels today, a Honda CRF450X.

The top of Argentine Pass might be the most spectacular view in the state of Colorado. Simply amazing. The terrain to get there is a sketchy bumpy ride. Much of the “trail” is covered with jagged rocks that vary in size from softball to basketball. These rocks move around while riding on them and therefore like to make you change direction!! My arms are a bit tired but the ride was fantastic. Stay in a low gear, keep the weight off the front tire, and muscle over the obstacles.

There is much to explore up there and many different trails to adventure down. I wasn’t lucky enough to see wildlife up there today but I can see how it’s more common that you would encounter some.

Expect high winds at the top!!!

The trail indeed ends at the top. Do NOT attempt to continue down the other side in a Jeep/truck/SUV!!!! However, there is a trail that continues down the other side that is intended for hikers and perhaps a mountain bike. Had I not been riding alone I might have attempted to continue on, but didn’t feel safe to try it alone. I’ll upload a picture or two.

Cheers and happy adventures to all.
