Steep hike through out. went to lake and went back which took 4.5 hours at a steady pace. patches of gravel and boulder crossings. lake scene is worth it.

Very nice hike

A steel climb capped off by some amazing 360° views of the surrounding area. The hike has a good variety of terrain - from wooded forest to mountain top Alpine. The top of the hike gets a bit steep and rocky which makes it a but slippery, so make sure you bring good hiking boots.

Did this one yesterday! Good for all levels. Awesome trail with awesome view. A bit crowded.

August 5, 2017

Good hike, gets challenging higher up but doesn't take too long to get to the peak. It is busy so you have to stop to let people past on the narrow parts but I enjoyed it :)

Not a very rewarding hike to say the least. The amount of incline and distance you have to travel was not worth the views of either lakes.

Was amazing trail nothing impossible to hike. Just take your time to get to the top and do not bring heavy stuff in your backpack.

on Galatea Creek To Lillian Lake

A steady incline going up. Overall amazing views.

This trail was very steep, with lots of loose underfoot gravel / dirt etc. for most of it. The last push to the top through scree was particularly steep. worst part was the trip back down, very unpleasant as almost impossible to maneuver the trail without slipping and sliding. Lots of really rude fellow trekkers coming up behind at speed, letting dogs off leash and such. Looks like there are some trail improvements underway, but still not a trail we would do again. Recommend hiking shoes, poles and a good bit of water. Also do this trail early to avoid crowds.

absolutely amazing! despite it being +35 today we were able to enjoy the trail and the sights. Very well marked and heavily trafficked trail so you'll be sure to see a good chunk of people which can be great motivation. I would say that the trail from the parking lot to Lillian lake is moderate and the section from Lillian lake to Galatea lake is hard due to the large amount of loose rock. But it's worth is as the serenity of Galatea lake is amazing. It took us a total of 4 hours (2h each way) plus an hour break at the lake. would definitely do this one again!

Access road still closed for the season!

What a neat place! The hike itself was easy and not much to see and had highway traffic noise, but the cave was awesome. It was perfect, it was 33C out and walking into the cave was like going into a fridge. The cave was way bigger than I expected. I went with 4 boys- 8, 10, 12 & 12 and they thought it was so cool- we even saw the packrat, which was a surprise. I’d prolly do that trail again... short walk to a neat place. We went on a Thursday around 3:30 and only saw 4 people- we had the caves all to ourselves. Make sure to have flashlights.

Glacier has retreated pretty far, have to hike an extra kilometer on a ridge of scree to get to it now. Not worth the pain of climbing the scree. Half of our party got partway up the scree slope and decided "no more" because it was so sketchy. By the way, it is even harder to climb down the scree...
The approach hike through the forest was beautiful. Meandering glacier melt stream keeps you company most of the way through the forest. Stay on the path, though, as the forest floor is easy to damage.
Saw one other party of 3 hikers just before we finished.
Don't miss the view through the trees and over the lake in the last half kilometer before you get back to the trailhead.

Pretty steady climbing the entire way. Underwhelmed by Lillian lake personally, the extra climb (it’s hard) to Galatea Lake makes it all worth it.

Pretty easy walk up to nice glacier water falls

Awesome sunrise hike

Easy hike I assume if you are not carrying 40 lbs. of toddler. Best scenery in Kananaskis going up with great lake scenery at top.

Took 3 hours with quite a few breaks on the way up.
Super busy, recommend going earlier in the morning!

Hard to rate this one. If you are looking for a relatively easy, nice hike then this is good for you. If you want a challenge and a good climb, then not for you. Well marked trail and lots of room to move, and you will need it because it is a busy trail. Get there no later than 9 if you want a quiet hike. Go counter clockwise and enjoy the view near the end of your hike.

A tough hike for me but I did it!

Finished the loop today with my family (husband and teenagers). Flat portion in had quite a few cows in the pasture, so you had to watch where you stepped. The gorge is really beautiful. Entering the fork in the road we chose to hike the loop counter clockwise (right). A few grizzly tracks in the wet portions of the trail, but they were old and the only animals we saw were the cows and a grouse. Good elevation up to the top will get you feeling like you are burning calories but stunning views once you get there. Nicely maintained trail, well marked, saw two other people at the top.

Easy hike... Nice views...

Very pretty walk through the forest which eventually pops you out on a rocky flat where there is a nice waterfall. Definitely recommend hiking poles or a stick to tackle the next bit - a steep rocky, gravelly climb with some sections feeling a little unstable. Watch your footing carefully (particularly on the way down - we saw a few people falling/skidding). The views down into the valley with the gorgeous Spray Lake make it totally worth it. The glacier itself is quite dirty and not overly impressive but it is cool to see regardless and with so few people on the trail, there is a real sense of tranquility at this point in the hike, with the mountains towering above you and the occasional echo of falling rocks (no big ones but still - be careful!)

Great hike with amazing views. Not a busy trail which was nice.

Beautiful! We did this hike with our 4 kids ranging in age from 8-13. Easy walk to a beautiful waterfall. The steep trail to the glacier is a little challenging, with a few breaks we made the whole hike in about two and a half hours from start to glacier. Glacier and valley are both a great site to see. Bonus was we avoided the busy highways and hikes on the long weekend! Highly recommend.

Very busy trail on the weekends, worth the crowd if your are from out of town. If you are a local wait until a weekday, it will be much more enjoyable!

The view is breathtaking! It takes 2-3 hours to hike this trail if you keep a steady pace and spend only a couple minutes at the top before your descent.

A good challenge due to the elevation gain, but the views from the top are also an excellent reward. Hiking shoes are a must have for this hike
