Great hike. One of the best in Pennsylvania I would have to agree. Went the full loop and saw all the falls. Definitely will come back and do it again.

Even though it is kind of a tough loop. I had not hiked in a long while and was able to make it through it without too much pain. Very important to have good hiking shoes because the trail is quite rocky and wet.

Beautiful trail leading to very nice falls.

Loved the hike but the bugs were so bad we had to turn back after about .5 mile.

amazing hike, very steep incline for a short distance hike but you are alongside the waterfall for the majority of the time and there is a couple rest spots if needed, went right after a rain storm and the falls were flowing hard, nice view if you go alittle further past the fall

Been there almost annually for past 5 years in January. Crampons and ice gear a MUST in Winter

Loved this hike! There is beauty everywhere you look! Me and my friend completed this hike in one day. If I was ever doing it again, I would do it as a overnight trip. It is a hard hike. We thought it was harder getting down to the falls instead of back up. We did all the side trails Sheep’s Cave, Martha’s Pretty Point, we took the trail to top of virgin falls to see the cave. Very nice and a good place to cool yourself off! Wish we would have had more time to hang up a hammock and relax but had to make it out before dark. Our record time from AllTrails was 9:33 hours to complete. We did eat lunch and sit down at the falls and explore some! AllTrails clocked us at 13.9 miles not sure if that is correct or not my garmin watch said 12.8 miles so not sure which is right. It is so beautiful and worth the hike! Start really early if your not camping overnight!

Was boring at times with only a couple great views. The watering hole was a lot of fun though.

This was a fun day hike! It was a little too crowded for my liking but overall an awesome experience. It is quite a climb up all of the stairs but worth the views and it is nice and easy on the way down.

Easy to moderate hike. It can be slippery if it is shortly after raining/raining. The first part of the hike is going downhill and the second half is all uphill. After getting to the overlook of the falls (pretty but far away), I suggest taking the fire road hike down to the base of the falls - watch your step going to the base of the falls as it can be quite slippery. There is plenty of parking at the trailhead and bathrooms. You do have to pay the entrance fee if you enter through the Swift Run Entrance.

Great hike, moderate inclines, be sure to bring water! Stopped towards the end on a secluded bench to have a picnic lunch!

beautiful! was expecting one fall and a short hike .. 6 miles later and about 30 falls later! so cool.

A bit more challenging going up than expected, but we were also trying to keep a fast pace. Slippery in spots when coming down- hiking boots recommended if it’s rained recently. Saw a mother bear and her two cubs in a tree which was awesome! Pretty trail and pretty falls

This was a great hike! The little river trail was easy peasy - flat gravel trail along the river. Just beautiful! Cucumber gap trail I found to be a bit challenging at times (for me) due to many tree roots, uphills, and a couple stream crossings. A hiking stick would have been beneficial on the cucumber gap trail, but I did it without just fine. Just watch your step! No bear sittings but saw evidence of them on the trail. Really nice hike overall.

Beautiful falls! Worth the hike!

Hiked this on labor day and got stuck in a down pour for about 20 minutes right at the base of the falls. Beautiful and well worth the wait for the rain to stop.

It’s a nice uphill hike that follows the creek with nice lookouts onto the waterfall. The first part of the hike has nicely built stairs. It does get crowded but there’s a nice vista at the end onto the valley.

Great trail and pretty falls. Just a warning...we were there yesterday and there was a fairly large and active yellow jacket nest in the ground right next to the trail. It’s maybe a half mile and those suckers were aggressive. I was stung a couple times and heard of others that were as well.

Ahhhhh... Back in the Appalachians. Despite my relatively high ratings of trails in (flat) Michigan and Florida, this one is qualitatively different. Superb. The system needs more than five stars so that I can nudge those others down a bit, but this is a real five-star trail. Pretty, well maintained despite its popularity, hilly, green and alive with a variety of flora and fauna, and punctuated with a lovely waterfall that’s a great place to watch people, to get wet, to picnic or hang a hammock, and to marvel at Nature’s creative paths and tableaux during her slow march forward. P.S. Remember to enjoy the drive along the Bluegrass Parkway with plenty of time for stopping at overlooks.

Beautiful trail starting from top with a moderate effort going back up.

great trail! a little scrambling and ALL uphill! hiking is very manageable, but even the most experienced and fit runners will need a walk break! along the way, you can see remna ts of the fire that took place here but also the recovery, simply beautiful. i swear some of the trees here would compare to the Sequoia's in CA. the falls at the 2.5 mile marker are a welcome sight and resting spot...even managed to crawl behind the falls for a cool spraying! as stated only currently open friday-sunday and there are signs warning of bear activity. well worth the effort put in to see this gem!

Great trail. It was really crowded. It has paid parking. I would've given it 5 stars without the huge crowds.

We started really late so we only went to the overlook. The Ranger was awesome and super informative about time and distance. Loved the trail and rain. Apparently it rains often there. The trail is rated as hard, but up to the overlook it’s not difficult. The ascent up I guess is why it’s rated that way. Going to take another trip and go to the falls next time.

An amazing place every Pennsylvanian should hike. Such a gem, and we are so lucky to have this place in PA. The waterfalls are all beautiful and breathtaking. I loved every minute we were there. Swam in a couple holes and waterfalls which was refreshing. Very busy when I was there. The hike is hard at times and can be dangerous if not prepared. I completed the whole loop...was about 9 miles total, but worth it! Make sure you wear boots there. I saw several people almost die because they had the wrong footwear.

nice waterfall!

A little crowded but with this kind of scenery it’s to be expected. If you’re a fan of waterfalls you got to do this hike. It is a photographers dream.

This was a fun hike. Definitely take your time going up especially with kids. We had a 7, 9 yr old and two toddlers in backpacks... slow and steady was the rule. Took us about 5.5 hours with lots of breaks going up.
