Great hike.the views from the top are awesome.

a real relaxing trail

beautiful hike. glad we dove the extra 2 hours to get there. one of the best views on the AT.

Challenging in spots with an amazing view for a payoff. Can get a bit crowded at the top.

Not as easy as the local reviews say it is! Definitely a challenge, but so worth it!

This trail is awesome!

Nice hike. Trail was well marked and well traveled on this Sunday afternoon. Definitely, take the rock loop trail to experience the geologic features of the trail.

I have really enjoyed the hike... Upper and middle falls are really close and its not much of a hike, the walk to lower falls is nice the canyon gets deeper and lot of pine trees around its really nice... After the hike dont forget to drive in park road and stop at all the scenic lookout points you will love itt.... Opps I forgot to mention that the middle falls has a rainbow... :), I would love to go back in fall..!!

This is by far one of the best state parks I've been to. A true gem in the state of New York. Plenty of trails and scenic views that take your breath away. If you are looking for a fun getaway this is the place to be.

My son and I did Porter first, which was muddy in spots, but otherwise a really nice detour before going up Cascade. The views from Porter were better than expected. Cascade was spectacular! The rock scramble at the end was a good time. We stayed longer on Cascade, and had some food. The path from the trailhead is uphill from the start, with only a few very short level areas. It is also very rocky, and on the trek down this was a bit of a challenge. There were people of all ages and skill levels on the trial, and most people were very friendly and encouraging on the way up and down. The parking areas around the trailhead were packed by 10:00am, so get there early. We spent about 5 hrs on the trail, 4:19 minutes of actual hiking time. Two of my apps agreed on mileage, 7.1 for Cascade and Porter. Great hike and amazing views!

Great, steep hike, fun rock scramble at cascade, porter was super muddy

Well worth the switchbacks and climbs to get to the summit - spectacular views. Last bit at the summit is not dog friendly, so we took turns going out on the ridge. Horse trail was a little less rocky than AT or hiking trail. We just missed a mama bear and cubs, but saw another pair about 10 minutes before the parking lot. Keep your eyes open.

Excellent trail! Definitely difficult and I would not have packed my own water because there are plenty of water spots along the trail if you are camping. Beautiful views and a really awesome camping site at about the halfway mark.

Did this with my daughter on my back. She weighs 34 lbs so it was a little more difficult. the trail is rocky at times. very steady incline untill you cross the fire road towards the end. this is where the trail begins to be more of an incline. i believe this is where most of the challenge is. the air gets thinner a little bit. the scenery at this point is amazing. once you get to the top there are multiple ledges to grab a great view from. on the way back if you take the fire road it is much simpler and easy. very wide path and still some great scenery. not to crowded if you hit it in the early am.

Always a favorite. Great with my kids. We went early to beat the crowds and was worth it.

All in all a beautiful hike. We stayed true to Cascade. If you are new to hiking ( like many we passed as we made our way down) preparation is key. It’s definitely a hike, not a stroll. Wear appropriate footwear! I’m incredibly proud of our 4.5 year old son who made it to the summit and back with no assistance. Took us 4 hours car to car, with a nice break at the top and a few on the way up. We cruised down with ease. Parking was not an issue for us as we arrived early enough. View at the top was beautiful.

Though a short and easy trail, it set the pace for a brisk hike through the woods. The waterfalls were dry when we visited (mid August), but the view was still very scenic and pristine. This trail is perfect for first timers.

Great hike, the rain made the falls magnificent. Glad we did what was recommended and went up the steeper side and wearing a great pair of waterproof hiking boots is essential.

Was a beautiful hike went clockwise and after seeing and hearing about the counterclockwise hikers journey. I was happy with my choice. I did it in two days, wanted to take my time. The views were spectacular, trails were makes well. Camped at Harper's shelter, not sure if the mileage is correct I don't think switchback are being counted for mileage, there are a good amount of them. would definaly recommend it to a friend, there was very little water on the AT portion so be careful with that if hiking clockwise bring in water to hike up, crossed one natural spring and it is a dry Aug. so far so riverbeds have dried up mostly.

One of our favorites.

Great great hike. Completed on 8/11. Pretty rocky on the way up (and down), but the views from Cascade are otherworldly and the rock scramble at the end is really fun. Lots and lots of people up there on a good weather Saturday. The trail to Porter was pretty muddy in places, but there are some nice, though less spectacular views at the top and along the way. Two of the 46 down!

Have not been up cascade in 10+ years so when I decided to make a trip up I made sure it was a Wednesday to avoid the crowds that clog up this trail on the weekends. Hit porter first so I could sit and enjoy myself longer on Cascade. View from Porter was pretty stellar. Took me about 20 mins to get to Porter from the trail junction and vice versa to get to cascade. Cascade summit is gorgeous with 360 degree views.

Start early and the crowds will be fine. Brought my beagle-basset and we had a blast.

This being my first really backpacking trip, the views really only came at the end most of the trail was wet and uneven. A lot of yo and downs, the north end of the trail is where you want to be. Some amazing views at the north of the trail, but tons of water sources throughout a lot of little spots to rest, watch of for the 7 min. Itch also a lot of snails and toads i

Great hike. Amazing view from the top of cascade and porter.

it was very nice

Highly recommend bug spray! We forgot and it put a damper on our experience. That being said- not crowded, only saw one duo on the way to the falls and then two duo hikers on the way out. It’s been raining a lot so there’s a lot of mud, footing got a little slippery at times.

The falls were beautiful! I wish I would’ve brought water shoes to sit and soak a while but the bugs chased us out.

There is an industrial road that runs tandem to the trail. It’s ugly but we took advantage of it to help get us out of the woods quicker. We’d do this hike again— it’s a nice afternoon hike!

Great, dog friendly hike. Two spectacular views!

Nicely marked trail for the most part. If with dog you can’t go on one of the trails but there is another next to it you can take dogs. Can’t take them to the summit, though. Although, I saw I guy walking with a pet bird! Saw a couple bears on the way down, they are out there.
