01 19 19 tried hiking this trailer based on the most reset reviews. absolutely CANT MAKE IT WITHOUT SNOWSHOES. kept sinking to my waste each time I tried to get up. will try again next week with snowshoes.

Great hike. I did a Google Earth Trail on Saturday here. You can do a virtual like walk of the trail and into the cave at www.shaunasadventures.com or on Google Earth. We had on spikes/ Crampons and made it to the cave fine. Headed up a little before 9, and there was not too many crowds, but as we headed down there was a huge group heading up. Most people heading up had sleds. I wish I would have asked them where they were heading to sled. I am thinking they were going to take the V shaped trail marked on my blog to the North Fork road and then sled down it. Definitely would have been fun sled ride down.

One of my personal favorites, it's a quick, but steep and tiring hike to Pretty Valley and the frozen cascades are gorgeous. We climbed to the top of the big rocks and looked over the valley. Beautiful stuff. Until then the trail is well packed. We tried continuing past the massive rocks but the deep snow and time shortage prevented us from continuing. Wish we could have continued though!

It's a steep hike that offers really cool views of the Salt Lake Valley. Not one of my favourites as there's no waterfalls, rivers or lakes to look at. It is doable in winter and I enjoyed myself over all, but it is exhausting fighting all that snow and it delays you. Make sure you have more time than you think you need before sunset. It's dangerous with light-hearted sliding down the steep, slick trail.

Gorgeous trail, and best of all dogs are allowed every day!

Toured up this morning. Great views once you get through the switch backs but steep and narrow skiing the trail back down. Be much better in the summer so you don’t have to hike the road up

easy hike, good views. Dont try and get a picture by the falls unless you want to walk back with freezing feet. Ha!

Beautiful, easy hike. Cool ice cave. Hiked today (mid-January) with hiking/snow boots and we were just fine.

Lots of switchback at the beginning. Gradual climb to Elephant Rock. Trail well packed from heavy used. Didn't need to use snowshoes or chains

Gorgeous hike up along the creek the whole way. Many small waterfalls, 10 bridge crossings and icicles from the cold. The snow gets deeper and deeper as you go along. There is a really cool swing and a fire pit if you want to sit by the creek and have a fire. The rock formations are also amazing. Some narrow trails with steep drop off's for those who are scared of heights. But only at the beginning.

Beautiful in winter!

Super pretty with all the snow. A bit steep. Fun to see people sledding and skiing down!

great hike! we didn't go up the last portion but it was so much fun anyway. snow was packed in but we had spikes and poles. definately need to go back and go up to the cave!

I hiked this yesterday with a friend. It wasn’t too crowded and the snow was packed down so hiking boots were fine. We didn’t do the very last part to the actual falls because it was too steep and slippery. Other people were doing it though.

The trail was traveled enough and the snow was so packed that we never used our snowshoes. Hiked a little past the Mud Springs Trail junction. Returned on the Mud Springs/Mill Canyon for a nice Loop.

Great hike! The trail is fully covered with snow once you get back into the canyon, crampons would be ideal, I was fine in my normal hiking boots, with some sliding in places. Waterfall is mostly frozen over, but still beautiful!

The trail was traveled enough and the snow was so packed that we never used our snowshoes. Hiked a little past the Mud Springs Trail junction. Started just as it was getting light and watch the sunrise lite up the mountains behind us. The morning light made the mountains look incredable

Amazing short little hike. It has hard snow pack so no snow shoes necessary. The view at the falls is amazing. Truly a great one for the whole family. And the reward is well worth the work.

So beautiful in the winter. Only 1 spot with a little ice. Perfect winter hike!

A M A Z I N G Winter Summit!

Definitely a Challenge ...

Come prepared ...

But SO worth it!

The left (North) loop was too snowy to hike safely even with chains so we choose the right (South) loop. Then when we came down we choose to explore Pretty Valley. The snow got thigh deep at the upper end of the trail.

Lovely winter hike. The road and trail were sufficiently packed that snowshoes were not necessary, although they may help some folks. No waterfall visible during the winter, but it was still worth it for a beautiful woodland walk.

Awesome hike to bring along the puppers!

:-)

Great views and an exciting way to see the North side of Olympus.

Should have brought my snowshoes, was tempted to explore the ridgeline ...

Another time ...

Awesome fun trail!

Great views of SLC.

Excellent hike to bring the furry friends ...

I decided to complete the loop in a counter-clockwise fashion, coming down the Red Butte ridgeline on the north side of the loop.

:-)

If you’re looking for an easy paved and cut out trail this is for you. You’ll be directed to the waterfall with ease. Now, if you want to go to see the donut shaped rock where the waterfall has cut through, you’ll need to do some climbing. My group scaled the waterfall. Shoes and pants were wet, but to us, it was worth it to feel the icy water and take pictures at the top. We typically do difficult hikes, so adding this climbing factor make it more interesting and worthwhile.

Good trail, the hike up to the trailhead was the biggest workout for me but the scenery was nice and it wasn’t too long

Such a beautiful trail with all the snow. We done it with no spikes or snowshoes. One section is fairly deep and narrow but we made it through okay. If you go left on the loop its steep in a short bit of section or if you go right its a continual uphill for a good part.

This is absolutely one my All Time favorite summits in Utah. I love it because it’s steep and relatively a short 3.3 mile to the top. My personal record to the summit stands at 1 hour 37 min and little under 41 mins to run back down to the trailhead. As of December 8th, I have summited Mt. Olympus 16 times in 2018.
