trails i want to hike Map

We hiked up the steps by the dam, across the levee and up to the cabins looking for the trails. From that advantage point they weren’t well marked but we had a good walk with our little dogs. I liked the inclines.

Convenient hike to get out of the city and into nature. A pretty popular trail but you can avoid the crowds by going early in the morning or late near twilight. Overall pretty easy hike open to all levels.

Nice trail, good views of the lake this time of year. Mainly a mountain bike trail. Some muddy areas today. Poorly marked. My Garmin clocked 3.2 miles.

Did this hike last year. It’s a decent hike for the area. Good views and some rock scrambling. Does get crowded and I prefer more quiet hikes.

Trails 2&3 are pretty well marked, fairly challenging for beginners with a couple of nice hills to get the old muscleS warmed up, however when we moved across the street to trail 1 it is not marked very well. As this was our first time really hiking and not just walking on pavement at a county park we found our selves walking in a circle with no clear path to get off this endless loop. We did and still had an wonderful day am looking forward to returning in the spring when the leaveS come back.

Fun trail and beautiful views!

Gets a tad crowded during beautiful days

I love this series of trails. There are a bunch of branch points and it is very close to Baltimore where I live so I can easily be out in nature in no time at all. I trail run here. The main (red trail) is pretty wide and flat. The blue trail is flat, but narrow and goes along the river. It is my favorite as I see a lot of birds, deer, foxes along this trail. The yellow, green, and orange trails are rockier with more tree roots and have a bit of elevation change. All of the trails go through mature forest so they are shady in the summer. Almost all of the trails get muddy so be prepared if has rained recently. I don’t mind it personally, but some may.

I love the difficulty and variety of the A loop- I think it’s one of the most challenging hikes in the DMV area. Pretty high trafficked route.

We parked up at the visitor center and walked the towpath to trail A. We did Trail A & C. Trail B is closed. Trail is A is a lot of climbing up and over rocks for 90% of the trail. I loved it. Ankles are a little sore but worth it. Follow the Blue blazes on trees/rocks. We began at 8:30 on a Saturday and it was very less people but it got much busier as day went on. Rocks can be slippery and sandy if it has rained. Be careful. Not a good trail for those who are timid or have knee issues.

Then we took the towpath to Trail C and that is a regular flat trail along the river. Easy to navigate.

River view is amazing and see it the whole way. Bring water and a snack if doing 2-3 trails.

Fun trail, many rocks to climb and great views.

Neat and clean, well maintained.

wood duck trail is an easy hike with a beautiful trickling creek. a bit of hill but an easy hike with young ones. well maintained and gravel. can be busy. playground and catch and release pond

Great terrain! A little muddy this time out, but great experience over all.

Dense forest with trails mostly catering to mountain bikers. Actually makes for a nice place to hike since anyone passing by bike will be out of sight quickly. Devou-tion is quite steep and I saw no one on this seciton as opposed to being passed probably 5 times on the other sections.

I’ve hiked the trail a few times now and I’m finally starting to learn it. I still save a map to my recording every time so I don’t get turned around. It’s very easy to get off the 2mile path because of all the other intertwined trails. Almost got taken out by two mountain bikers, but it’s understandable because I was on a bike trail for part of it. This is definitely my new favorite place to come.

great hike. Section B was closed due to flooding. be prepared with a good amount of water

Hiked trail A. Great view, great workout. Has some challenging areas so, appropriate shoes are suggested. Will definitely go again. Does get a bit congested in the later morning hours.

Moderate tough with beautiful river side scenery and the sound of gushing river water.

I think we got off trail because it was not well marked, but it was still nice. Trails are dirt trails so if has rained recently trails are pretty muddy. Dog friendly.

Bunch of small short trails, pretty easy to just keep walking through one to another. Good wild flowers, and a pretty creek.

Wish some would respect Mother Nature more!!!
Leave NO trace
Take nothing but memories and your garbage!!!!!...and leave Nothing but gentle foot prints.

Because I was running out of time I only did part B and the view of the river and wall of rocks was fenomenal

This is a great hike, beautiful views and so close to the city.

section A is great workout with amazing scenery. get there early to beat the crowd. definitely recommend starting at the trailhead closest to the visitor center and bring plenty of water with you.
