Picturesque hike! Wow.

During snowy conditions, Yaktrax shoe chains are definitely worth it, as it gets pretty icy! You can by them for ~ $25 in the shop in Curry Village.

Hands down my favorite hike I’ve ever had. If you haven’t you should.

The climb was tough! But the views were absolutely worth it. It felt like we were walking straight up the entire time, though. And it was too crowded (this was why I took a star off). It is a trail you need to do at least once in your lifetime though. The views of half dome, Nevada, and vernal falls were breathtaking.

This was a great trail would definitely recommend it.

This one is a butt kicker for sure. Unfortunately I didn’t take my time and ended up with elevation sickness at the top before you reach the last peak. Made it to 10,500. Lots of semi dangerous rock scrambles to get to the top as well but as long as you take your time it’s a very beautiful hike. May lake is gorgeous and the views are pretty amazing. Trail is pretty moderately steady until the last bit up to the top. I will be doing this again this summer only I’ll be sure to take my time as I go.

I’ve done this hike without snow & ice & its totally different. Still a great hike, but icy/snowy & slippery in spots. Especially past the base of Vernal Falls. See pics :)

Nice trail even in winter. Yosemite in March is awesome.

Did this in July 2013. Beware of afternoon thunderstorms. Went up about 8am. We started back down about 1100 am with wispy clouds rolling in. Quickly became threatening. Raced down to reach our car as storms began.

So worth the work. Awesome views at the top. Narrow pass at the top but doable..

LOVE it!! Go early in the morning though.

Planned on doing just Upper Yosemite Falls hike for a sunrise view and ended up tackling this hike as well. Completed it last month when there was no snow at the time. Upper Yosemite Falls hike seemed to tackle most of the elevation gain. The remaining trail to Yosemite Point was easy. Took roughly 2.5 hours to summit. Views were decent imo. Completed half dome the day before so I might have still been blown away by those views.

By far my favorite hike I have done. Went when the cables were down and we had the entire summit to ourselves. Car to summit was about 9 to 10 miles (we climbed out to waterfalls, walked around the summit, and did some general exploring along the hike). The views are breath taking and second to none. Would highly recommend this hike to anyone!

Takes about 10 miles to get away from the general population leaving from Happy Isles. But Cathedral Lakes is one of Americas best campsites. You could get there in a little over a half a day if you left from Tuolomne Meadows heading north to happy Isles.

Scored in the lottery and then had a conflict come up so returned those lottery permits back which gave us good karma as we then scored in the daily lottery for an alternate date. Super fun, super rewarding hike. Didn't even realize how many miles we hiked until we looked at our Apple Watches - time seemed to pass by quickly. The same advice as anyone: bring lots of water and snacks, stay on trail. wear proper shoes and sunscreen. I'm not going to lie, the cables were harder than I had thought. I had an awesome hiking partner that encouraged me to take breaks when needed even on the cables and to catch my breath and that was exactly what I needed. No need to rush - listen to your body especially on the cables. Take breaks and encourage others to do so as well. Everyone on the cables with us were great - we were all taking breaks and motivating each other. It's hard...there are a couple of steps up you have to do while on the cables and for me who is shorter, that was the hardest part of the whole hike...but like I said, breath and be smart and take your time and you will be fine. We started the hike just before 6am and parked right by the trailhead/falls. It was so amazing being in the park while still cool out and no one around. Hiking Vernal and Nevada Falls at that time was so peaceful and breathtaking. We didn't need any layers in July - just wore a tank top and shorts the whole way...no poles either. The switchbacks were fine - just like any other hiking switchbacks you encounter. The sub-dome was harder as you are exposed to the sun and tired, but super duper pretty. I took so many photos. Just make sure you eat and drink up before the sub dome but pee ahead of time as you don't wanna get to the top of Half Dome and have to pee - not going to work up there. Then the cables - you see them and you're like "HOLY SHIT" - put on your gloves, drink up, and just do it! It's incredible experience that only a handful of people get to do. Don't rush it...breathe, be smart and you will be fine. Encourage those around you - you guys are all so awesome and at that moment, you are doing something super cool. Go down backwards, high five everyone, look up and say "Hell yeah, we did it!" Then head down for some beers! We did the John Muir Trail down and clocked in around 20 miles total back to the car. I don't remember what time we finished but it was still sunny outside - felt like around Happy Hour time. Yay guys! Have fun! Oh my goodness. This was my first trail at Yosemite and it was incredible. You can’t beat the view from the top of Nevada Falls. Definitely recommend this hike! Just make sure you pack plenty of water!

This is the most amazing trail. You get to hike right next to the water fall, which is beautiful, but prepared to get VERY wet! The steps going up the waterfall are very slippery, so you need shoes with good traction. Also, I would call this trail difficult rather than moderate. Many people were turning back half way up. Definitely worth it though!!

Christine, Charlene, Cal and I started at 5am from the parking lot. Original plan was to backpack to Little Yosemite Valley, but there was so much people during Thanksgiving weekend that it took a long time to get in the park, find parking, order and eat dinner, that we decided to rest and start early next day. Also because the forecast was calling possible snow and for sure cold weather next night, and didn't want to go through the mist trail with ice. Best for use was to do it as day hike. We took small detour to Nevada Fall where we found a guy that spend the night there because he did have a lamp and was not able to come down. Cable were down but we had harnesses and cords to prusik ours self to the cable, which is much safer than going up when cables are up (well, only if you have climbing experience). We were maybe like 10-15 people on the top (half of them a climbing family). Looking up Half Dome, the left cable 3/4 from top had a snag that could damage your prusik cord, so use the right cable just in case.

Amazing, high elevation so you need to be prepared and be in shape for this trail. Wear appropriate hiking shoes! I’ve seen people in flip flops and sneakers and they did not make it on the last leg of the trail.

Sunday Feb 11, 2018. Awesome hike with many tourists in street shoes.for a couple mile hike was unexpected ...

waterfalls running strong and the descriptions of steep grade with many steep steps is 200% accurate. One tricky part is walking alone rock face holding on for dear life with a 2ft wide walkway. Be ready for changing weather.

Gorgeous! Same hike as upper Yosemite falls just about a mile further up to the point which was SO worth it! Went in February no snow on this trail except a few small scattered patches view from the point is epic! Very hard hike path is almost all rocks

Great trail! We went in February and the weather was great. It was a difficult hike for me with the uphill climb but completely worth it!

This is one of my favorite hikes in the park. Amazing 360 views on the top of the dome. View of half dome Yosemite falls Nevada and vernal falls. And it’s absolutely stunning!! A Must do in Yosemite. It’s worth it to make it to the top if you take your time anyone can do it !!!

Loved it! My fear of heights was at it’s peak but, I did it!

Easy yet so fun

Once in a lifetime

All good when you first start out and the top of North Dome was stunning. Coming back was kind of tough on the knees. I was sore for days after but worth it.

One of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever been on. I’m terrified of heights so the last bit was rough but worth it.

Great hike did it with my two kids 6 and 3 it’s a killer hike but the water is freezing bring a good rain parka !!

The most difficult and rewarding hike I’ve ever completed. The views are out of this world! Can’t wait to go back.
