I'm a local to this area and I have never climbed this mountain until today. My first hard climb.... All I can say is "Simply amazing" like being on top of the world. I wanted to take pictures with snow on and I wasn't disappointed. Road to trail head was clear. The climb to the top wasn't that bad. Steep, but not a bad hike. The trip back down killed me. Awesome hike. Can't wait to go back in the fall and get the fall colors. AllTrails quit on me from the get go but not to many ways to get lost on this trail. Just keep going up....

You cross the river too many times; I think 14 times one way. it is hard not to get your feet wet even if you wear waterproof boots as the water is ankle deep and there are no rocks to step on.

The trail is decent. there are always many people on this trail as this is the most popular trail in this SP. the view from the top is nice.

this trail has everything to offer... hills, stairs, waterfalls, scenery. rates second to Yosemite only.

1 tree down before parking area. In general the trail was easy to find but overgrown. 360 degree views from the top were wonderful.

Easily, one of my favorite hikes. Started at the Lower Trailhead. A lot of steps and rock faces to hike up, a lot of overlooks, and a 200 foot waterfall. Covered about 9 miles. Total gem of a State Park.

The view from the top in late afternoon is well worth the strenuous hike

This was my favorite hike I've ever done! Highly recommend. Definitely start with the summit.

Beautiful and so quiet. Went to see fall leaves and it was just so peaceful. Love the way the trails meander and intertwine, and I found several great spots to just sit and relax.

My gps said I did 6.5 miles for this loop. It was strenuous. Uphill both ways. Lots of steps. Took me and my pup about 4 and a half hours. Stopped at top of rock for snack and rest. It was a really nice hike though.

We were rewarded for the struggles of finding a parking lot with a winter wonderland of ice and snow. Spectacular 360 degree view if ice topped peaks and green valleys. Overall, moderate hike with wonderful view.

Probably my favorite hike due to close proximity and wonderful view of Lenoir. The hang gliding ramp at the top is the perfect platform for photos of you and your friends or pets. I recommend trying it at sunset and staying til dark, because the view of the city lights is awesome. Also, go close to Christmas or Easter and catch the star or cross lit up on top.

Pretty great views and the rock structures are great for running and jumping.

some amazing views. and one amazing waterfall. bucket list this one. you'll thank me

Very cool trail!!! We saw a turtle! so if that doesn't warrant a 5 star rating I don't know that will.

Beautiful hike. Took approximately 3-4 hours for novice hiker.

Beautiful views.

Moderate hike with phenomenal views! Took our time exploring and was done within 4 hours.

Excellent loop with dogs who like to do a little swimming and mud-bogging. Terrain was moderate and lots of shade. Ideal hike for a fall afternoon. The lake and mountains in the distance were beautiful and we crossed over to check out the dam at the end. Nice spot!

Dogs must be leashed. $13 to camp. You have to cross a busy State road to hike the trail. After that it gets pretty good, challenging with great views

A bit crowded, but otherwise perfect. Challenging and beautiful.

If you have 4wd, you can make it to what could be deemed a parking area... I just parked off the roadway and walked an extra half mile or so to the trailhead. As others have stated, the trail is not well marked, but you will occasionally see blue spray paint on some trees. My dogs & I were the only ones on the mountain today, which made the rewarding views at the top even better.

Great hike with a little bit of everything!!

Incredible trails, well marked, wide trails. There are steps on each end of the loop, so pick your poison. Saw wildlife ,views and the waterfall was spectacular.

Worth all the trouble to find trail head. Trail nothing particularly of note except steep, rutted, loose rocks, slick roots and thick growth. However, the rocky top makes it well worth the effort with huge 360 views and excellent lunch spot. Tougher going down and recommend a stick for balance.

Amazing!! One of my favorite places to hike

Amazing views! Highly recommended!! Do the whole loop and you’ll see how different the landscape can be on top of vs. base of the mountain. Pick your poison: traveling counter-clockwise will mean wide uneven steps going down and standard wooden stairs going up, clockwise gives you the uneven stairs going up and wooden down. Any way you slice it LOTS of stairs. Strenuous at some points. Took us 3 hours with dogs.

It was a nice trail. Good for an early morning walk. It was very moderate for repair a 70+-year-old legs but all went well. Surface was in great shape in spite of all the recent rain. Someone may have to explain the wooden ramp at the top. Guessing it’s for sky gliders.

Hiked it with my family today. it is OPEN.
it was a great time we did the loop.

Hiked Wolf, Cedar and lower Stone Mtn trails. Visited Hutchison Homestead having lunch with our hiking group. Trails, stairs and parking lots are well maintained. Enjoyed the sounds of babalying water in creeks by trails. View from Wolf tr as il of Stone Mtn summit is awesome.

Watch for deer crossing road when driving in and out of park.
