Not as hard as the park rangers tell and several spots for great views!

Beautiful views and easy walks for kids. Falls are incredible but very busy with lingering tourists.

This is a hard trail because of the steep switch-backs. Pace yourself up this trail. Think of it in four parts. The first is the steep switch-backs up the outside of the mountain. But once you make it up that you get a break by hiking in the shade and more reasonable path back inside. But be prepared to hit the third part of the trail that takes you up shorter, but steeper switch-backs a good bit up. At the end you find the part that’s flat where you can rest and go to the bathroom. From here you can go back down or take the final leg up where you have to hold on to chains and make your way to the top on a small ledge with pausing for hikers moving back and forth up the trail.

Amazing hike

It’s scary. Be smart wear good shoes. Great views both directions

Absolutely breathtaking. Cannot stress enough how dangerous and difficult it is, though. If you are unsure, stop at Chicken Rock. From there, the steep drop offs begin.

amazing hike. we loved the views and the challenge. highly recommended.

I hiked this trial on the 19th of April. Very steep path, certainly between start and first 1.5 miles. Certainly after 2 miles it gets less demanding. At Governors Rock faced a lot of wind but enjoyed a lot the view. The overlook on top of Table Rock is magnificent. Fantastic view over the massive forests this region has. Definitely worthwhile! All in all this can be a tough hike for non trained persons. I started the hike at 11h30 and got back at the entrance around 14h30. One can do it in half a day. Great to have this hike checked of off my to-do-list. Greetings

There’s not a lot to say that hasn’t already been said, this trail is incredible but not for the faint of heart. Go early or late in the day to avoid the crowds, bring gloves with good grip for holding onto the chains on the rocks. If you do get scared, please move off the trail! There were several people that were clinging on to the chains, holding on for dear life, sitting on the ground in the middle of the walkways, making it very dangerous for the rest of us.

I bought the shirt, and then I had to do it. Tip: go as early as you can get in the park. The crowds start coming after that, and you do NOT want to be stuck behind them when you're all hanging on the side of a cliff holding the same chain. Plus, there are people coming up who are not prepared or in shape for this hike and you do not want to get stuck behind them. Great hike if you don't mind a little fear factor. I'm not afraid of heights, but even I was a little uncertain in some parts. Just keep climbing.

This hike, in my opinion, is an ideal day hike. It has it all: a timeline totally doable in a half day, interesting trail that is well maintained, and amazing views from the top. I hiked this on a Wednesday in April, starting at 7:40 am, and reaching the summit in a little under 1 hr 40 min. I hiked with my favorite hiking companion (my dog), and we had a great time. We didn't see a single person on the way up, or during our 50- minute stay at the top! We had GREAT views from many lookouts on the huge summit. We started our descent a little after 10, and got back to the car at 11:30. We were taking our time on the way down, as I had to negotiate my dog down the steep rock sections at the top, and he had to sniff and pee on a lot of things. So overall trip time was 3 hr 50 min, but only 3 hr of that being actual hiking, with 50 min at the summit. For planning purposes, this hike was not particularly difficult if you are a semi-regular hiker and in decent shape. However, if your idea of a "hike" is something like Yellow Branch Falls (3 miles on flat terrain through the woods), then this may not be the hike for you. Would not recommend for inexperienced hikers, individuals who are out of shape, or those with joint issues, due to the steeper sections of the trail. If you are in good shape, you should get a nice little workout doing this. Overall, a great view and experience payout for relatively low time investment. I will certainly be going back!

As Everyone says... Very difficult, but worth it! It had been on our to do list for years. Don't care what anyone says, it's definitely harder coming back down. Great feeling of accomplishment for casual hikers.

must do hike!!! go early.

Highly recommend starting early to beat the crowds. We caught the 7 am shuttle from the visitor center and crowds were limited at that time. Great views at the top.

Great hike but WAY TOO many people on the chain!! Too close for comfort in my opinion!

Wonderful hike! I could not do the chain section - vertigo took over but we hiked part way up the West Rim and had a spectacular view of the valley.

Fun and Very easy hike with a well maintained trail at the beginning and Not too much shade. People make it sound hard but theres nothing hard about this trail for the active person. although In summer is really crowded with ppl which really sucks a lot. Nice views at the top and overall good experience. Is one of those hikes that you must do once but not twice. In my opinion if you're there for a day the narrows are better but if you can do both trails then might as well do them.

We enjoyed this hike, we made it on the first shuttle. I would not go if you don't make it early. Also seemed to be not as dangerous as all the hype, I am sure it is worse with more people on it. Hidden canyon seemed more precarious.

Very beautiful views from the top.
It is marked as “hard” for a reason. 1/3 of the trial is with chains and very steep cliffs. I would not recommend this for the kids or someone who is very scared heights. We started at 9am and was getting crowded already, like everyone hike the early you go the less people you will meet.

A must in Zion. If you are scared of heights, skip the last 0.5 miles climb to Angel's landing and turn around at Scout's lookout. (Totally worth it too)

I siked myself out the night before this hike by watching videos and reading reviews. I was seriously having a panic attack because I’m deathly afraid of heights. I actually found the hike to be very easy! Once you’re past the switchbacks and start the chains, it’s mainly using arm strength to hold and pull yourself up over rocks. The heights was not that bad! The videos made it look scarier than it actually was. I also recommend going very early to beat the crowds because you do end up having to wait for people to pass on the chains a lot if it’s crowded. I went at 6am and it was almost empty! If you like this hike, I would also highly recommend Observation Point. I found the scenery at OP to be even nicer than AL since it’s higher and you get more of the overall view of the park.

Great hike! Tough trek but the view atop make it totally worth the torture. The app underestimates the actual elevation gain and loss. The app’s elevation map stars the trailhead starts around 1200’ and the summit is around 3000’ which would put total elevation in the 3400’- 3600’ range and not the 2600’ listed. In other words it’s more difficult than you might think.

Great hike with amazing views. Parked at bus station 3 intersection very early in the morning and walked to trail head. This allowed me to beat the crowds and view the sunrise at the summit.

Short but fun. Log ladder is more memorable than the view at the top.

Amazing hike but not as scary as it’s cut out to be. Start early. Switchbacks are tiring and super steep.

Absolutely stunning. Tough hike but oh so worth it!!

Absolutely stunning views. The red rocks are some of my favorites. Such a beautiful hike. Exhilarating and gets your adrenaline pumping. Highly recommend.

So beautiful and exhilarating! One of the best hikes I’ve done of all time. If you don’t like heights, stay away.
