Absolutely loved it. The scenery is beautiful and definitely a challenge for beginners.

This is your go-to family friendly hike. Be sure to arrive early as parking spots fill up quickly. (I suggest arriving around 8 am unless you want to hike to the trailhead) You will need an Adventure pass. You could purchase a day permit near the trailhead for 5 dollars, make sure you have it in cash. Have fun!

mountain biking

I have come to Peters Canyon for a while, but only recently for mountain biking. I typically start by Lower Peter's Canyon Reservoir and then go left at the sign. Then around the lake, I would recommend taking Cactus Point Trail. Next, I take the main fire road back until Scout Hill and then continue on East Ridge until Eucalyptus and then the ride is over. It is fairly steep at some spots, but is still relatively easy. I love this trail for hiking, and it is good for biking but there are definitely better places.

Great work out with amazing view.

Nice trails, beautiful views.

The trail is nice, Maintained with a fantastic view.

Cool hike with a pond that has hundreds of turtles

Be prepared to see wildlife!

The trail is way over crowded, a lot of trash, parking sucks. it's more of a walking trail than a hike as half of it is a paved road.

Had a great time. Amazing ocean views.

What a great hike! I started from the Sturtevant trail and it was a steady but pleasant hike up through the canyon. I only recorded 4.5 miles and ~900 ft elevation gain.

I take everyone here!!!
It has it all! The drive to the parking lots has spectacular views as well! The hike is dog and family friendly and is @ 3 miles. The trail is an ADVENTURE! Starts on pavement and views of the hills and valley then heads into the woods! Lots of cover and the trail moves along the waterway and crosses it a few times, so be careful with your footing over wet rocks! And the payoff is a gorgeous WATERFALL!!!!!
And now that we're getting some rain, finally, even better!
This hike never gets old!!!
ENJOY!!!

off road driving

they recently paved the trail and the end is a fire hazard so the gate is closed. they also added signs stating that you are not allowed to go off course so basically you are forced to drive on the pavement. used to be my favorite trail but now it is just a normal road with a speed limit of 25

Great place to run. Lots of challenging trails Trails are well marked.

Hiked this trail down to shoreline, over to the Beachcomber and back. 10.5 Miles. Beautiful views.

They don’t call it dreaded hill for nothing.

Beautiful & peaceful! And lunch @ the date shake shake a tasty bonus!

Busy trail for weekend warriors looking for a nice climb. Parking lot gets full by 7am so you will see cars parked on the road on the way up. Trail is easy to follow and the falls are underwhelming thanks to the dry So Cal summer.

Besides the noise it’s a fun adventure.

Nice walk

Easy walk. You’ll see some horses as you walk.

Nice trails. Great views.

The whole trail has constant car traffic. Not very safe at all

Amazing views

Get there early if you want to find parking!

Obviously a popular place to go! Quite a few people sharing the trail on the way in but drops off the further you go in and becomes more secluded. 0 shade so make sure to bring proper sun protection. The hike back up through Rattlesnake Trail is the best part. Some "mini scrambling" and cool places to rest for 5 mins and enjoy the view. Not my favorite hike in the area but still worth the outing :).

As previously stated parking is a challenge if you don’t arrive early. Over all it was a nice leisurely hike many squirrels, dragon flies and butterflies.. Colors are beginning to change. Was able to take a nice peaceful nap at Hodgees campsite before heading back down the trail.
