The first part of Falls Trail that goes beside the stream is very rocky, wet and slippery, with moss covered stones on a fairly steep slope down to the stream. Once past the falls, the trail becomes easier. I continued on to Hardwood Trail, which was wet in several places and hard to follow. The GPS tracker on the app really helped to keep me going in the right direction. All in all, a moderately difficult hike that was a good morning’s activity.

Nice hike, pretty clean park. Got alot of rain recently so mosquitos were out in force but will do it again. Several campsites as well. We stayed at Mootry lookout and Danbury looked pretty good from up there.

Good hike, more buggy than I expected. Trail is pretty well defined but in some parts it is definitely not as clear, most likely due to the storm. I went off trail two times and went back to find the trail. The fire tower has an okay view, you can’t see much with all the trees in the way. Also, some parts have trees in the way that you have to go underneath/above and it’s a fun adventure. Wish the trail was better marked at some parts, but overall I really enjoyed this short and quick hike.

Wonderful place! I just wish the blazes were better marked. I got lost for 30 minutes, which isn’t long in the scheme of things, but it made me anxious. Eventually, I found my way out.

Really liked this spot. Lots of parking, picnic tables, and pretty views even if you just hang around the entrance. Pretty waterfalls and rock formations, and covered bridge. I did the big loop, beginning on the covered bridge part with my 12 year old and our dog. It’s a good, moderate hike that’s a little more challenging (and fun!) due to all the downed trees and tornado damage. There are a few spots where the markings aren’t super clear - we got slightly off track towards the southern part. All in all, a great spot!

Good hike, with interesting wild life everywhere

We do this trail every summer and it never fails to please. Even the hard part has started feeling easier. Definitely more overgrown this year!!

Good if you live in Fairfield County and don’t feel like driving too far to get into the woods for exercise...some broken glass at the only lookout spot, though.

Nice quiet trail, the trail and white blazes weren’t the easiest to follow at times but it wasn’t bad. Neat little falls and water along the way but the trail tightens up and gets rocky at that point. All in all worth the hike.

We took the red path then the blue bc I stepped on some sort of bees nest in the ground and was stung numerous times on my legs so had to shorten the trip with the blue trail, although nice Forrest views, and we came up on a Fox or coyote den under a large rock formation about 1/3 way on red trail, little startling seeing the eyes starring out at you but we had a good laugh about it. If not for the bees we would have continued the red path to the end. Definitely not for kids and some steep climbs all around.

this trail had a great New England feel. stayed at campground with 3 kids for father's day for weekend which was perfectly rustic.
I echo others advice to start at northend and go counterclockwise to avoid step rocky descend, especially with non teens. excellent river walking stops down before park ranger cabin, westside had nice low cascading falls. the other side down further by pull off had natural pool which were swam in cause it was hot. we'll be back, even with 1.5 half drive from greater Hartford. stop at Dottie's Diner in Woodbury for doughnuts, their best in state.

hiked it with my dog today awesome

Echoing everyone, especially Matthew’s review. I did all the trail and the loop. One of my new favorites! The trail, especially on the nature loop and carters, was only a foot wide, if that. It fits the natural contours and landscape. Beautiful!
The history made it unique.

Great hike! We did the blue trail counter clockwise. 3 of the 4 of us were in sneakers, the other in hiking boots. The sneakers were OK, we just had to go a bit slower. Beautiful views at the top where we stopped to have our packed lunch. At one point around the campground, there are some facilities if you need a bathroom, complete with toilet paper.

Meadow with flowers followed by the quaint falls makes a nice little hike. Beautiful July morning to be outside.

Great loop with different terrain and great views.

Good hike, although I'm confused about the 1,735 ft. elevation gain stated on AllTrails--maybe we climbed that much in total ascending/descending, but Cobble Mountain itself certainly isn't that far from the valley floor. We started up on the yellow blazed trail from the Macedonia Brook SP visitor's center and did the blue loop counterclockwise from there. The yellow blazed trail was seriously overgrown with downed trees, but we figured it was a less trafficked trail and therefore less maintained. However, some sections of the blue trail also were pretty overgrown, which we found surprising considering that Macedonia Brook SP is (1) pretty well trafficked and (2) at the epicenter of tick country! The first ~3 miles counterclockwise from the south end of the park were rather boring forest hiking; after recrossing the park's main road, the hike's second half was more interesting: ferns and the brook and the small scramble up to Cobble Mountain were highlights. We spent 2.5 hours completing the loop at a quick clip. BRING BUG SPRAY! Lots of standing water in the park = free arm workout swatting at mosquitos/flies.

The trail had a lot of inclinations and some steep hills

Great place for picnic, or just to enjoy the beauty of nature

Great clockwise run in the morning of a warm Saturday. A little buggy valley along river was nice and cool. Nice view from the top. Follow the yellow markers. Very well marked. First two miles are on an u traveled dirt road along the river.

Great and local. As another commenter said, lots of bugs in Spring/early Summer. Almost none in fall.

Nice lake. Some rocks for kids to scramble up. Great vibe as other hikers share the road, parking lot, and trails.

Enjoyed this nice little hike...great place for an avid birder like myself. Loved the wildflower meadow..it was teeming with butterflies. Falls were running well after a night of thunderstorms.

A good, challenging (at times) trail. A little confusing returning to the parking lot. Perhaps more signage would help. Don't forget the bug spray.

One of my favorite local trails during off peek months. There is a dog park, across the path — so be aware there are a lot of roaming dogs. You can also camp here. Will be giving this a try this summer. Just for the fact it’s local — and who doesn’t want to sleep under the stars, roast marshmallows and have access to the lake all to your self for a night. 來

Nice walk along river. Will definitely go back.

This was a good trail. Very well marked. Easy to follow. The first part of the white trail wasn't so pretty but by the river was absolutely beautiful. Peaceful and relaxing!

we did this as an alternative to Kettletown state park trails being closed. We were looking for an "easy" hike in the area to take my parents that were visiting for the week.
The Hike end up a tad less "easy" because of the obstacles due to the tornados that recently hit CT (5/15/18), the north part of the trail is still no clean, so many trees are blocking the trail and you have to find your way around.
But it was fun for us and them and they end up with some "adventurous" pictures :D.
