Awesome! Great incline going up the mountain. Great Cardio. I did the hike solo and felt safe. Going down the hill I chose the harder trail and it was a little rocky so I slid a couple of times but other then that it was a great hike I would definitely do it again!!

This hike is always my go to. Its quick enough to do before work or before errands and always has beautiful views. I occasionally run this trail too so its good for leisure or for a more intense workout! I never get tired of it and it's good for all hiker levels :)

Awesome trail to walk my dog! Don't see allot of ppl. Really enjoy this trail

This was a great little hike / trail. Overall the path was very easy to follow, well groomed, there was plenty of parking, and halfway through you get an awesome viewpoint.

If you are looking for something that is easy, or quick, this is the hike for you.

Went early Thanksgiving AM this year. It was drizzling and foggy so there were few others on the trail. It was getting crowded on my way back, with big groups coming through. I recommend doing this early. I’ll go back when there’s better visibility

nice drive to get to a nice walkabout!

I did this almost a year ago, actually. It’s like 80 flights of stairs to the top and has an amazing view.

Love this trail. Short and easy to moderate. Pretty scenery, clean, well marked and great views at the top. Only downfall is there are a lot of people there.

mostly flat, quiet and simple. Started just north of the 52 and jogged to the school and back, can hear the train occasionally running nearby. On another day, did the other end and met in the where I left off, the least favored part of this trail (the south part of the tracks, not very well traveled in some parts so the trail is not east to run on (deep sand and big pebbles).

Great trail! Pretty scenery and views with a gradual uphill.

Nice hike. Trail is well maintained and marked.

Went on a super windy day and it proved to be a little too much at the very top and super hazy (due to the fires up north) can’t wait to go back on a clear day. Even with a kid on my back I would say this is moderate if you are in decent shape.

Not really a hike but not really a walk either. Great training location with lots of options in side trails and such. My normal route covers about 6 miles.

Was a good hike, surprised how fast it went at a waking pace.

Nice trail with a gradual climb for about the first half of the hike up then switch backs finish to the peak give a paced workout to the summit. Well groomed trail and fantastic panoramic views at the top with picnic tables and perch points let you celebrate the trek up Iron Mountain. I didn’t bring or need walking sticks as the trail rocks are easily maneuvered.

I hiked this trail on a Sunday. The parking lot at the trail head was full. The only downside about this trail is that almost everybody starts and finishes at the main entrance and there is one path shared for hiking up and down so the traffic got pretty heavy at times and we were paced by the number of people (and their dogs). I like when there is some dispersion of hikers and trail options that let me hike at my own pace. I love people and I love dogs, I’m not complaining about that, I’m just pointing out that there was traffic on the trail. Maybe a weekday hike would be a quicker pace for this trail. 4 stars, I will hike this trail again!

A really mild, relaxing hike! There is plenty of nature and rolling hills to see. Not much incline, and there is a pond at the base of the hike!

I am a recreational day hiker and this is one of the prettiest hikes I have ever been on. The views going up the last mile are just outstanding.

Nice little loop, great for an easy, short hike.

I take the shortcut trail going up on the right (west) side, after the housing area and the large water tank. This hike is only about three miles, but is great for getting the legs, heart and lungs pumping because of steep incline.

That’s good one for biking and rent boat at the end of the hiking for $75 all day.

This was a good walking, biking, or running trail close to home. It's not worth driving a long distance to get to but if you live in the area it's worth the trip. There is a nice dirt parking area that had plenty of room to park when I went on a Saturday afternoon. The trail is paved and there is a wide dirt path beside the paved trail if you prefer the dirt path. The dirt path is officially a horse path, but I only saw one horse the entire way. There was no horse droppings to contend with. The trail was mostly level and an easy walk. It is two miles until the end and then of course two miles back. I couldn't see the cars at all from the trail and could barely hear them. For a level city walk it was quite nice.

It was beautiful, people were fishing , hiking , walking their dogs , but yet it was very peaceful, perfect place to meditate or just relax.

I love how the trail offers breaks just at the right time to be able to stay in motion.

Today about 8:30-8:45 am, my 14-year-old son and I were in Oak Canyon South (just a bit beyond the first bridge after the Grasslands junction) when we encountered a pack (5-6) of large coyotes. Two crossed immediately (about 5 feet) in front of my son, going into the brush on our left side, while the rest of them were above us on the right side. One of these stood looking down at us. I was surprised that they didn't seem afraid of us, so to be on the safe side we backtracked out of the trail. It was a cool experience, but unnerving at the time. I enjoy this trail and we will be back.

Beautiful in the fall. Great trek for a 5 year old as well.

Easy flat trail for walking/biking. There is just one tiny part of crossing about a few inches of water on the bike or stepping stones. Gradual small incline and the view was very peaceful. We ran into more bikers than hikers on midday Sunday. Minimal shade during the hot day so bring lots of water.
-we parked near the farmers market (1030am-330pm) and trail head was down the end of the road. There’s other trails from here.
-it is along the highway for a bit but it gets more quiet along the trail the further you go.
