Did Perimeter and Deer trails. Scenic views, good for school age kids. Well-maintained and marked paths.

Took my dog for his first hike here it’s a really nice trail not a huge amount of people when i went.

easy hike with water views along most of the perimeter trail. My 11-year-old daughter loved the hike, especially the 2 bald eagles that we saw.

After the last few hikes I took, I was looking for something more scenic and less strenuous. This trail was perfect. Easy trail with some slippery rocks and a couple of steep staircases. It took about an hour and a half with stops for photos. The falls are beautiful and flowing due to the week of rain we had. The leaves are just starting to change. Beautiful views at the start of the trail and at the falls. I plan to go back in a week or so to check out the foliage progress. Only downside I found was the amount of people there. It's definitely a busy place. Some people there were loud and rather obnoxious. I'll try a different time of day next time!

Fast, easy hike with great views at the top of the trail. The waterfall is great on a hot day, and parts of the cliff that we had to duck under to pass were especially fun for the kids!

Nice woodland preserve, but the trail markings can be erratic. It's easy to wander down a clear path that tapers off to raggedy scrub. The blue trail markers in particular seem to be clustered so close together that it has two or three blazes on one tree, and three more on the next tree 12 feet away, and then five more blazes on the next five trees. Then, nothing....
So download the map before you head out, or follow the blue dot as you go, to make sure you don't end up climbing several extra ravine slopes in search of the path.

Trail was great today 9/23. Minimal mud and bugs! Good amount of hills to get your heart rate up, but still easy enough to enjoy the scenery!

very nice trail, pretty easy, and great signs.

Hiked August 23, 2018. Took trail from Edgecomb pond instead of Thomas Mt. 4.0 mi round trip. 1000 ft ascent from pond. Time 1:20 up 1:10 down. No rock climbing, just a long gradual climb. Amazing view of Lake George islands, mountains.

Did Cat to Thomas with my 14yr old and 12yr old. They loved it. Peak to peak will be amazing when the leaves are gone. After doing this direction, I agree with previous review that you should bolt up to Thomas first, then make your way to Cat. Bring hiking poles, especially useful for the rocky/rooty sideslope between the peaks. Enjoy!

There were many trees down and the trail eventually became too obscured to follow. This was too bad, looking for a quick hike with the dogs.

Love this hike. Be prepared for a few steep climbs, which are tricky when muddy. Access to the creek at the end of the trail was rewarding and refreshing. Good chance for the dog to splash around and cool off!

Quick stroll to a view of the falls juxtaposed with industrial sites. I got a glimpse of the end of a rainbow which was pretty cool.

Excellent for a leisurely stroll, but can get pretty crowded. I'm rating this hike based on my "want to get away from it all" criteria. That said, the trail and adjoining Park offer clean and convenient facilities for a family day - picnic areas, restrooms, and fishing spots.

While this trail can be slightly confusing at first... just follow the all trails path laid out as it’s almost exactly on point. It’s fairly level for the first half and a steady incline for the second. There is a 180 view from atop the rocks at the “summit”. The mountain is a little higher as there’s a zip line and maintenance road further up. It took me about 40 minutes to the top and 30 down.

Awesome loop! Great views on top of Cat! I recommend going Thomas first, as the views are good but you are further from the lake. Save the trek from Thomas to Cat for the middle then easily cruise back down the blue to the parking lot. This hike is the perfect combination of tough, easy to follow, peak to peak ridge fun, and amazing views. Really doesn’t get much better and I’ve done 16 of the high peaks along with other LG 12s.

Easy hike on a well maintained trail!

Beautiful, rewarding hike. Took Thomas to Cat, glad to have had the *sensational* views from Cat summit to finish the hike with. Recommend trekking poles as quite a few parts of the hike are steep, with loose rocks

Great trail and easy to do just to get outside. If you’re bringing youngsters keep in mind the cliffs can be dangerous for wandering kids. BRING BUG SPRAY if you plan on stopping for a break.

Nice hike. We took Thomas to Cat, which was the easier direction. We took our 8 year old collie who did awesome. In a couple sections between Cat and Thomas there is a very steep rocky drop, but my dog did fine. The trail markings from the lot to Cat were poor (lots of hikers passing us going this way asked us for trail directions), but Thomas to Cat was well marked.

Took the dog with us on this hike. We started by taking the blue trail up to Cat mountain. The trail wasn’t too bad - got a little tricky towards the end right before the peak. We then ended up taking the foot trail that connects cat mountain to Thomas mountain. This was not ideal with a dog as it was very hard sometimes to find the yellow markers which indicated which way to go. Also we ended up climbing over rocks and logs and this was difficult with a dog. Would deff do this hike again but skip the yellow foot trail with the dog.

Beautiful hike with wonderful views of Lake George! My favorite hike in the LG area and add will never get bored of it. Beautiful hike to do in all four seasons of the year. It gets a pretty steep at some parts so may be a little challenging for beginners

Clearly marked trail off the Warren County Bikeway approx. 1/2 mile north of Rte. 149. The start is very steep and rocky, it had rained the night before so it was also slippery. Took an hour and 15 min up and 45 min back. Overall a nice moderate hike.

Most of the trail is in direct sunlight.

A great hike- we went up Cat on the blue trail first, then took the yellow trail to Thomas and back down. Blue trail up to Cat is easy to follow and well marked. The yellow trail to Thomas was also well marked but was relatively ‘rough’ meaning lots of ups and downs, lots of roots and mild bouldering. Def a challenge for a beginner... but well worth it! Lots of fabulous views. When I go again I will go up the yellow trail and down the blue, I like the rough stuff while I’m still fresh!
Highly recommend this hike- you can just do the blue trail for a quick up and back or do the loop for a great workout.
