Great little hike! I did the loop and finished in about 1 hour and 45 min. I am new to hiking, so I tend to take it nice and slow! The first .5 miles is pretty steep in parts and gets your heart pumping, but then gives in to a more gradual incline until the top. Once at the top you can choose to continue on the Castle Trail that loops you back to the parking lot. This trail is shared with mountain bikes, there weren't too many on it today and everyone was courteous with passing. The parking lot was full when I got done with my hike, so glad I got there early! Good trail for the pooches too!

very rocky, lots of ups and some droppffs. overall good trail and quite the workout!

Beautiful 360 degree views, including Denver, Morrison and Golden. Not a drop of shade, but that’s why you go for a sunset. Considerably steep at the get-go, but there are several interweaving paths of varying distances to accommodate all schedules and most fitness levels.

Good short hike, great for dogs

The hike itself was pretty but there was a part where I could not figure out where the trail went. I ended up on a different trail through the rocks and had to find my way back to this one. Overall good little hike with some pretty views.

Nice loop that will get your blood pumping. Not too strenuous though. Great views of red rocks

Pretty chill with good views and some nice terrain variations. Relaxed and quick trip outside Denver.

I arrived today at about 11:00am and the parking lot was nearly full. Today was bring your toddler day. This was my first time here. The first 1.5 miles is downhill if you're going counter-clockwise. Easy terrain. I ran Eagle's View in Conifer prior to coming here so the calves were already burning. I'm glad the elevation wasn't too intense.

We really enjoyed this hike! It’s not a bad hike for beginners and offers really nice views of downtown, Red Rocks, and the mountains!

Very good trail for beginners, 2,5h while going really slow. Perfecr workout, nice views on red rocks.

Lots of mountain bikes, and I can see why they want to be out here. The scenery just off the path is serene and calming. And there are plenty of downhill sections with banked corners and interesting rock obstacles for them.

Absolutely love this trail. It has a good bit of incline too it but the majority of it is covered. Beautiful pines and aspen trees everywhere. We have hiked it in September and in January and have loved it both times.

We did the Turkey Trot loop.
Great way to get your heart pumping for us seniors who are starting out and we loved the views. Today was cloudy and cooler so it wasn't a bad day for the climb but the trail was very busy, probably due to the holiday.

Was there on 8-31-18, took Castle Trl up and Turkey Trot down. Great views, nice weather. I went early enough that I didn't need to bring water with me but I can see where if it were any hotter then it's needed. Saw lots of rabbits but no snakes as another post mentioned.

One my favorite trails in the Denver area, wife and I went today! It’s a workout but a great hike!

Love this hike. We started out around 10:30 and finished up in a little over 2 hours. Took Black Bear trail around to Horseshoe as described. Lots of climbing in the first half and some fun rock scrambles. Definitely felt the elevation as we climbed. The terrain is varied and really enjoyable, with some beautiful views along the way. We’ll be back to do this one again.

This was a great trail. Nice views!

This trail is amazing early before the sun gets too high- and before the crowds join you! It was empty on a late-August Sunday from 7-7:45am. Its not a fast trail- lots of technical spots but it keeps you focused on the trail ahead of you. A few areas to get in some faster strides but you probably won’t beat any PRs on this route. And it’s a steady climb until you loop back: I definitely did a lot of walking two catch my breath. One of the best aspects of this trail is how much cooler it is in the morning- maybe 10 degrees lower than the trailhead? It’s great. Watch out for lots of poison ivy which can be avoided if you stay on trail.

Pretty hike, not too challenging. Was up and down the whole way as opposed to longer inclines. Path was quiet.

Beautiful views and lots of colorful wild flowers

I mean it was a decent hike. but the climb up, while physically challenging, was honestly boring. it's just dirt and gravel everywhere, there's no shade, and when we went (mid August) there were bugs swarming at our faces and biting our necks. it felt like a desert. the view was nice, though. and yeah there are a lot of mountain bikers, but there's usually enough room to let them pass.
probably wouldn't do it again for fun, but for exercise it's good

Great trail! Very well-maintained. I really liked the up and down nature of it, as opposed to all up one way and all down the other. Beautiful scenery as well.

Great trail with your kids! Nice and well maintained. Our 5 and 7.5 year old did not have any issues and want to come back.
