Nice ocean views. Easy to navigate. Appears to be very popular and well used. The trail is sandy and/or hard pack. The doggo off-leash space is not enclosed like many other off leash dog runs.

Douglas Family Preserve has 4 access points. If you are driving there, from what I could tell, the most available parking is probably at Arroyo Burro Beach unless Hendry's is packed, in which case head for one of the other 3 neighborhood entrances. From Arroyo Burro Beach the main trail is a 1.5 mile closed loop. Once you go up the hill from the parking lot, the park trails are relatively wide and flat with minimal obstacles. There are a lot of paths crisscrossing the preserve.
Nice spot. Probably a fantastic place to catch a sunset.

Great views, steep in parts but a good daily exercise experience!

I took grief for 1 star, it used to be 5, and will be again I hope. It's very sad, the road and trail head is gone from the mud slide. The trails (East and West) are closed and it doesn't look like they will re-open any time soon. I suppose you can bushwhack your way in but they clearly don't want you there.

it's a nature walk along the ocean with beautiful ocean views. it's a dirt road and many dog companions on the trail. many different trails paths, but it's a closed system, don't worry. the main entrance is in a neighborhood. I used Google maps to get there.

Not Easy! And more than 3 miles. Logged 70 floors because of the extreme elevation changes. Beautiful views. Probs not kid friendly.

This is one of my favorite hikes in Santa Barbara. The pools and the water in the creek is not reliable, however I always really enjoy a good creek bed hike. The trail is narrow and there is lots of climbing over rocks but not challenging for an athlete and a super fun ascent. Be forewarned to get down to the pools your choices are to hop the rocks in the creek bed or to take the trail along the creek bed and use a rope to sort of wrap hell yourself down and incredibly dirt steep hill. All in good fun.

it is a good trail but not recomended for little kids cause there are dengerous clifs.

Great, well-marked trail. I tracked the distance as closer to 4-miles from the trailhead.

not very pleasant descent - dust with small rocks

Went two days ago... great for a beginner

This is NOT easy in terms of elevation gains. Granted, it’s only 950 ft. but, pretty much straight up hill. Trail is not switchback so, it’s quite a bit more difficult than easy, and I am an avid trail runner. Trails were very well marked though and a nice water station on a trailhead I did not know existed at about mile 2. I will definitely do it again as a hike and only suggest it for the most avid of trail runners.

Start with a jog and enjoy!

Nice trail pretty nice terrain not too rocky. We did Edison catwalk loop, the sign is now again at the top. I loved the shade and sun in the mid day fall, not too hot! Beautiful views and trails.

Ocean view, woods, water, bolders to play on, some elevation, all in all a great little loop trail.

Love walking dogs and exercise myself. Trail nicely groomed and lots of options. Like to hike at 6:30 am which in theory is violating rules. Still like Trail for 4 mile round trip hike.

I wouldn't really call this moderate. The riverbed was okay, and had a lot of rock hopping. The end of the actual 7 falls trail was okay, but not much to see. This route then takes you to '3 pools trail.' After scaling the rope / mountain side we ran in to a ~17 foot vertical wall. We looked for ways around but couldn't find any. It was basically rock climbing / bouldering. The views weren't really worth the effort. The trail is also heavily graffitied after the rope climb.

Nice and easy hike! Took the back way up for a bit of a steeper climb and more rock climbing!

It's a nice trail. Not to hard. Parking was kind of shady because we were the only ones here. It's close to home so I will come back.

Perfect trail for a beginner or someone getting back out after an injury. Nice and shady too!

Very peaceful, flat terrain. Not as many dogs as I anticipated but the ones encountered were very friendly as were their owners! Great view photo op of Hendrys. Decided to loop around and take a few different paths (some concrete) on the return and ended up at a different entrance! But it was well worth it, I navigated through some back alleys of the Mesa neighborhoods and loved it. All in all, great family walk, definitely not a hike though.

Absolutely beautiful hike. A little treacherous on the way down towards the end due to dry loose soil, so just watch your step. My dog loved it, too!

Nice, easy, fun trail with great views. Short and sweet.

This is a great hike! Especially after some rain! Did it a few months ago and it was awesome! A bit dry now that it's summer. Still one of my favs!

We hiked up McMenemy Trail, then took the Girard connector to the Catway, taking the San Ysidro trail all the way down. It was 3.5 miles total. Definitely a moderate hike, with lots of flowers, poison oak, and rocks to climb on.

I decided to start building up to backpack camping with my 8 yr old and see how well we would do with a full load. Testing the waters. All went well. Good hike for kids. Definitely start on the trail next to the creek.
