San Juan National Forest..in March 2011 me and my lady friend Liz Ochilo, flew to Montrose, Colorado. The next day we drove to Durango and then on to Bayfield and Lake Vallecito. At the end of the road is a trail head(of which I don't remember name). Snow was everywhere...as it was March.I have hiked this trail many times, but not with snow everywhere. And though there was Snow, it was all so beautiful and my lady friend fell in love with the San Juans in southern Colorado.and saw what I love a

cool place to watch the sunset. Amazing scenery. you aslo can find wildlife such as birds and wild horses and gators, etc...

very nice, cute little trail. if you have a family with kids, it's a nice outing. beautiful area and nice biking trails nearby. I wouldn't recommend bike's on this trail however. does cost $5 to get in state park.

Beautiful trail.

This was fantastic for a shorter trail. The super dense woods were beautiful and peaceful.
There are fire rings at the camp sites for anyone who dares to backpack in firewood.
There's a group of five sites near each other in one of the camping areas, but only a couple have good access to the lake for water.
The one site that is by itself (3/4 mile from the others) has access to water and it's own biffy (there's one for the five sites to share).
Piknic tables at every site as well.
Went on a Thursday night and didn't run into anyone backpacking or camping.
Bugs minded their own business.
The bull frogs were VERY loud at night which made for a difficult night of sleep.
I would definitely hike this trail again with ear plugs for sleeping.

Still closed from hurricane Maria but the rainforest is gorgeous and still worth the visit. They do allow you far enough up (driving) to see Coca Falls and to the first viewing tower. There isn't a lot of parking but stay patient and you will get a spot. There is a 30 minute time limit on parking. Only trail we found that was open was Angelito. Short but it leads you to a nice stream.

Gentle trail accessible to even the youngest children. Variety of environments in a short walk: small tree area, dunes, lake, and big pine area all with the sounds of the ocean in the distance. Watch out for mosquitoes and poison ivy.

Great path, easy to navigate. The campsites by the lake are pretty, we just stopped for lunch. The trail felt safe, we saw a few other hikers with their dogs but it’s not crowded. I have a big dog and he did fine, it’s nice and cool in the woods and he dipped his paws in the lake when we got down there. You do have to pay $5 at the self serve station across the street from the trailhead.

Really Beautiful Hike. Wasn't too hard at all!

Great trail clearly marked. So peaceful

This trail is inaccessible as of today 6/24/2018 due to road construction.

My favorite hike in el Yunque forest. Have done it so many times that lost count. It is beautiful hike and the views on the Rock (to the right couple of minutes prior reaching the top) are amazing. Then can go down the road to reach Mt Britton and continue that trial which connects to Yunque trail or continue the road until another trial to have different view and then just take the road back to the parking lot. Not sure if it has open after the hurricane so check before going.

Enjoyable trail for biking. We needed to get out of beach wind and this was the ticket. My wife navigated just fine and she's slightly better than a beginner. Unfortunately, our ride ended in disappointing fashion as our car had been broken into while we were on the trail. Hard lesson to jog the brain - don't have anything of value in your vehicle.

Nice deep woods trail.

Very pretty, looks like a scene from Tolkien’s Middle Earth.

Floods pretty often and you won’t be able to walk out to the lookout. Still worth visiting and making the attempt

very cute and very easy to hike! however the majority of it was flooded after heavy rains the few days before we went so we didn’t get to see all of it, only reason i did 4 stars and not 5, but i saw a gator so that’s cool! definitely want to go again when i can walk the whole thing!

Nice trail along the inner marsh with white sand dunes and pine trees. Please stay off the sand dunes and respect the signs that point out the trail. It forms a short loop easily done in 20 minutes. Great for the family. Some shade once you hit the pine trees, and open sun when you're in the dune area. Be sure to wear footwear you don't mind getting sand in!

Beautiful trail! Highly recommend!

If you want to see alligators up close and in the wild, this is the place. Horses, mosquitoes, birds, and fish almost always are present, as well, and lucky walkers occasionally see deer and/or families of wild boar ambling across the trail into the grassy side foliage. Along with Devil’s Millhopper, this is a must-see for visitors and new residents.

I’d actually rate this as “easy” considering we backpacked it as a family when our kids were 6, 8 and 10. (I added photos):) It’s a great trail and if you are wanting a short easy backpacking loop, there are great camp spots near the lake! :)

Excellent trail, would not describe this as Hard, Moderate perhaps. Trail is very well maintained, many very large moss covered trees, totally beautiful.

Was expecting to see more flora and animals through the forest, but still very enjoyable hike. We arrived early (~8-9) to avoid tourist traffic!
