This was a fun and easy jaunt along one of Lake Superior’s sandier shorelines. My 5 year old at the time had no trouble navigating the trail under the pines, and we were all thrilled to explore the beach and the driftwood structures left by others. Great bird watching, if you take a moment to lift your gaze. (Hiked April/2015)

The trails are alright, but the fishing is even better. So many excellent trout fishing holes on this creek.

This time of year and especially because of the recent weather, most of the trail is a solid mess of ice. It's still a quiet relaxing walk through the woods with great riverside views. No inclines, dog/bike/running/kid friendly.

I hike this trail often. There can be a lot of people near the main parking/lodge/river area but otherwise it is great.

As of today, the trail was open but there is still some minor flooding near the back part of the trail. So you can get about halfway but then have to turn back the way you came and cannot make the full loop. In any event, the trail is very nice and a quick three-mile getaway from the hustle and bustle. Parking is $7 if you don’t have a permit. Trail head is right next to the lot.

Great river views. Easy stroll with no inclines.

Trail is back open. You can definitely see where it was flooded.

Paved trails on the south side of the lake, and the wooden path between lakes, are lovely. The natural trail on the north side of Crosby is pretty muddy in spots...I suggest long pants if you’re not going to keep to the paved trails. Water appears to be down, so everything seemed to be open.

This isn’t really a trail. It follows, sort of, the frisbee golf course. Don’t get me wrong, if you are there to play frisbee golf it is a quite beautiful course. If you are there to swim, really nice too. It is just this hike that isn’t really a hike that I am rating 1 Star.

Open today, August 13. It is a flat, shaded trail—nice on a hot day like today. You can add on miles by running from Minnehaha Falls area, Minnehaha Creek, etc.

Pretty trail, pretty flat. Current conditions are a bit swampy and muddy (bikers beware) and the cement bridge at mile 1.8 is currently closed (due to flooding perhaps), but many were crossing anyways.

Great trail— the State Park website says it’s open again. Any reports on if this is true?

I highly recommend this drive as it offers spectacular views along the way and many waysides to stop and take it all in. There are some nice eateries, too. I’ve lived near Lake Michigan all my life, and I wish we had something like this. I don’t know how much time taking this route adds instead of using another highway, but hands-down, this is the way to go.

So many memories! Did the whole thing

Great time but could have the trails marked better so you didn’t have to keep asking people where to go.

pleasant trail. lots of other hikers and bikers, but everyone was friendly. we also saw lots of wildlife (variety of different birds, butterflies, and frogs). some segments are not passable or very muddy due to flooding.

Attempted this June 30th 2018, couldn't get onto it due to flooding. It looked great on the other side :D

Looks to be a pretty nice trail, but as of today (6/28) the trail is completely submerged under at least a foot of water.

a nice, relaxing, extremely easy walk. all flat, shaded, part of it is along the river so you may see eagles or other interesting birds. can get muddy and buggy but it's not uncomfortable.

Love riding here! The trails are not perfectly marked and there aren't always maps at the station. However, a great variety of moderate trails!

Much Paved and mostly flat from entrance off Shephard road. There are wooded path options and paths that lead back to the river - good to go exploring.

The main entrance area is super busy and touristy but we found a great trail a few miles down the road and hiked for a fee miles. Pick up q map from the main entrance and drive a few miles down hwy 210. great elevation changes and scenery. Had the dog off the leash for 99% of the time. came across 3 people which was great.

Very pleasant place to walk. Mostly flat with lots of wildflowers and beautiful cool shade in spring and summer. Several trails within the park. Two lakes and the river to enjoy, plus a small boardwalk over a marsh. Land and water birds and occasional turtles and harmless snakes.

My husband and I tried to hike this last weekend on 5/6/2018. Unfortunately, it was closed due to flooding. Definitely will have to go back and try it again! Thankfully, we found some other hikes at Fort Snelling State Park!

Not my favorite trail, but still nice. A lot of sandy sections.

I great place to walk around sunset. I got some lovely photos of the sunset and saw a few beavers. The walking paths into the woods are my favorite. Very muddy in spring.

The wildlife you see along the way is exciting! I saw several woodpeckers, a dozen deer including two baby, and a bunch of wild turkeys. Only encountered a few people on my walk. It is peaceful and feels like your up north.

Easy and nice loop around pike island. Hiking shoes a must right now as it’s pretty muddy and slick in areas. Enjoyed getting out today and excited for spring. Easy parking as well. Make sure to get vehicle day or annual pass and have it out on dash.
