Brought tire chains in Dec this time, but never used them. Still some snow on the road. we hiked with four year olds and a dog and it was great. it is an easy trail to the falls, but difficult to climb up to the falls, which is optional. Definitely recommended. Paired with spirit falls was a 5-6 hour round trip from eugene for us.

went today and we were the only people out. kinda chilly and a bit icy but we warmed up while walking. it was so beautiful and we plan to come back during spring/ summer! definitely easy for all skill levels!

This trail is full beautiful waterfalls. Just do not follow Google maps to go to the trailhead. Google Maps will take you on literally a very narrow jungle road. I suggest you use the day time for your entire trip because at night it gets extremely foggy in there. It reduces to visibility to only a few yards. All in all it was a great experience.

Great hike, challenging! Did up and back in just under 3 hours. Some reviews mention rock slides, I felt that it was rocky at points but not necessarily a rock slide. Good boots are a must! Trekking poles are not necessary. Snow at the top in December!

This is a great hike, the waterfalls are breath taking and beautiful.

You should know that the trailhead is in a very remote area of the coast range- the access roads are primitive and not maintained like a regular road. You will be driving on remote roads for at least 30 minutes to access this trailhead.

I strongly recommend following William Sullivan’s (Oregon Coast Range Hiking Book) driving directions to access the trailhead; do not use google maps. Google took me on a dangerous “shortcut”, a 6 mile detour on a 4X4 completely unmaintained logging trail. My car got scratched to shit. I could have easily gotten a flat tire.

On the way back, I followed William Sullivan’s directions in conjunction with apple maps; this was much safer (still gravel road with potholes, but much wider and maintained). I strongly recommend having a car with ground clearance.

All in all, great hike, and don’t be dumb like me and leave navigating up to google on this one; do some preparation in advance. Bring a GPS or detailed maps. Happy trails

Hiked this today in the later afternoon. It was lightly snowing at the top which made for a cool experience. I didn’t get to see the epic views due to the clouds/snowing but as I hiked back down it cleared out for a beautiful sunset and you could see the ocean.

Beautiful views!

Just did this a few days ago and I’ve done this hike multiple times. It’s a perfect little day trip (coming from Eugene) and the falls are gorgeous!

Easy fun trail

This is a nice, easy trail with a great view of the waterfall!

This is an easy kid and pet friendly hike

Its a great hike, i would definitely recommend this hike.
Different type of hike going down first and coming back up is no joke. Beautiful view definitely worth it.

Suspension bridge great bonus.

This was a challenging but great trail. Steep and heart pumping, on a clear day the view is beautiful! It’s great in that there are people on the trail but it’s by no means crowded. There’s a bathroom at the start and a good picnic spot at the top.

A great short walk, that is absolutely beautiful. Loved the many moss covered trees over hanging the cascading falls and bubbling brooks, well as calm pools of water that greet you on this serene walk through nature’s backdoor. Can’t wait to go back again in the winter wonderland and beauty of springtime.

I’m still floating on a cloud because we did this. It definitely earns its hard rating. It is up up up up up up up and then straight down down down down down down down. But the summit was such a spectacular surprise it couldn’t of been more beautiful. just wow. Definitely bring hiking poles and lots of water. It took us five hours. we had something to eat at the top and we stopped pretty often on the way up and down because our legs were spent. Beautiful foliage in the woods. just an amazing hike. highly recommend. Only ran into seven other people. Mid November and we didn’t wear jackets we had to tie them around our waste. Lol❤️

My dog and I hiked this gorgeous trail today. Super easy, well maintained, awesome suspension bridge across the creek and adjacent to falls, beautiful falls.

This is an amazing hike with amazing views of the Pacific, Hart's Cove and Chitwood Falls. We heard seals barking for a majority of our hike which was also very cool.
A few notes: 1. The directions on this website do not take you to the correct trailhead. When the forest road splits, stay to the left and continue to the end of the road. 2. My Apple Watch clocked 5.9 miles from start to finish, and that didn't include how much we were walking around down at the base of the meadow. Additionally, my elevation gain was clocked in at 1,328ft. I'm not sure if this review includes the hike from the top of the meadow to the base where you can view the cove. 3. The trail is NOT available year-round as this page says, it is closed Jan 1 - Jul 15 (these dates sometimes change). 4. As many others have said, this hike is not as difficult as AllTrails has rated it to be. It's definitely an uphill, somewhat difficult climb out, but certainly not impossible. 5. We counted 6 switchbacks in the first/last section of the hike, not 9.

Overall a great hike and I highly recommend it!!

Amazing hike! Can’t wait to come back in summer to splash in the creek.

For how popular this hike is I thought it would be over rated but it’s not. Short but steep and starts that way almost from the get go. Gorgeous view of route 26 fog early in the mornings looking east. Advice is to take the quick humbug trail for excellent views of this. The trail at times can have some mild flowing water in spots but easily avoidable. Views abound after the half way point allowing easy viewing of the coast and many peaks in all directions. Dress warm at the top. Wind likes to funnel up the range.

Very busy trail, but super cool waterfall and bridge. Go when no one else is there (weekday).

Your GPS will not take you to the correct trailhead. The correct trailhead is the same as North Cascade Head, but further down the road. There are signs.

Great trail. I want to go back in the winter or spring.

Quite a difficult hike but worth it! Very beautiful forest.

Beautiful, but becoming dangerous. As someone who’s gone there for years, the scene has changed drastically. Rocks are constantly falling. I was nearly hit twice on my last trip there, very scary.

Bring hiking poles or Yak Tracks in winter. Could be very slippery and possibly dangerous. Very populated but is a beautiful hike. Can get up high above the trees for a substantial portion of the hike and can see the Tillamook forest, the coast, and the three big volcanoes of the area. This is a very beautiful hike, well worth it. Have fun.

This was a fun hard hike. There are some slippery places on the trail because they laid down metal mesh to try and stop trail erosion but with good shoes and being careful it shouldn't be to bad. Some amazing views even on a cloudy rainy day.

Really nice trail walk to the suspension bridge and waterfall! This is an EASY trail with a pretty grand ending, therefore it draws a lot of attention-ie other hikers, kids, etc. If you want to avoid people, I’d aim for hiking it on a weekday morning. Otherwise, expect to share the experience :)

Great trail and views. Bring water for yourself and your dogs. If you do bring a dog be aware of there padded feet and the wires on the trail. I helped a 90lbs lab down the hill that had tore her pads.
