This was my everyday run for all of summer 2018 great park with friendly people!

Relaxing walk easy trails

Great trail, lots of up and down.

Great hike close to Indy!

I would call this hike more moderate than hard. I did this one early yesterday morning 7/10/18. I did an 8.6 mile loop trail. There are beautiful wildflowers. The trail is good for bikers, hikers, dogs on leash and horses. There is a snow shelter close to the top stocked with plenty of water. The views yesterday were hazy but on a clear day you could get some great shots of three sisters, Jefferson and some other mountains. I didn't see any wild horses on my hike, but they are out there. I did motherload mine trail (which was more steep than the descent on independent mine trail. I made a big loop trail out of this. Motherload mine trail to lookout mountain trail to independent mine trail. I was looking for the mining town, but didn't find it till I ended the trail on the road. baneberry trail will take you to the independent mine, the trail is very overgrown and wet. there were also lot of mosquitoes out when I went so put your bug spray on before you hit the trail, If you are like me and the squeeters love you.

Great time. I took my boys (11, 9, and 7) and hiked all 11 miles in 4.5 hours. They had a great time. Make sure to bring GALLONS of bug spray and wear long pants or high socks for all the poison ivy. they do a good job taking care of it and it was a really nice get-away for us dudes!

super accessible trailhead off of paved roads, fairly easy climb, and great views along lookout mountain trail. Hidden gem if you ask me!

Have run this several times for the Kennekuk Road Runners annual event. Very enjoyable trail for central IL, and is for sure the gem of Kennekuk as a park.

I really love this trail. For central IL, it's a fun, challenging gem--especially for running.

Great for a run!!

Certainly a challenge after a heavy rain. Quite hilly for Illinois, and makes for a scenic walk.

Great hike for a May morning/afternoon.

great day of snowshoeing

This is a hilly trail for the area, which isn’t saying much. There are some steep inclines, but for the most part it’s sort of monotonous since the woods around the lake are very new growth with lots of underbrush. The notable exception to this is right around the trail to the Collins site, near the dam. The views of the lake are pretty, and there are several convenient benches. It’s a nice hike, but underwhelming in late November. I might try again in the spring.

A superb loop combining various trails within the heart of Eagle Creek City Park. This loop takes you through some of the best parts and combines the trails in an efficient and even fun manner.

A great loop that follows most of the official KRR trail. I changed this so you avoid most of the big hills, creek crossing, and deeper wood areas. That's why I call it 'lite'. I ran this in a little over an hour, but walking would probably take 2.5-3.5 hours for most people. This is a good trail most of the year. Parts of this may be closed on certain days in November through parts of the winter for deer hunting. Otherwise, a great trail for walking, hiking, or running.

An amazing trail and loop to enjoy for the day. It was a bit hard to find information on in Oteppa, but the tourist office does have some details. We walked this route and had a great day out. Bring water and food!

A great trail for those wanting just a little taste of what Kickapoo has to offer. It's relatively short, flat, and good for those who want to get into the woods. I recommend this anytime of year and I plan on uploading plenty more trails for people to be able to access this park easily (the trail maps online or at the office are inaccurate). These are GPS, so very accurate : )

One of the best trails in the entire Midwest! This trail takes you around a scenic lake in Kennekuk Cove Country Park. It's great for running (a challenging, somewhat hilly course) that great for your dog too! Enjoy this loop and it's serenity. The summer months (especially July-September) means a bit of bugs, but quite a few spider webs on the course. If you go on a weekend in the later morning, afternoon, some folks probably will have already walked it, and taken care of the spider webs that intersect the trail. It's a great loop either way!

Superb, short, loop trail where you'll find nobody else walking. If you bring your dog, she can roam free. You may run into monkeys or the occasional shepherd. This loop is a great one to pack a lunch and to sit back to enjoy the views.

A superb loop trail that combines all of the trails into one nice perimeter loop. It turned out to be a perfect 10km. I'd recommend parking on the south side as it makes for an easy starting point. Although, any parking lot will do. The part along the highway isn't super ideal, but it's a good trail, with the walk around the lake being a highlight. This will get you off of the main walker's routes, so enjoy!

great fall hike. already snow in ne shaded areas. love this area

Enjoyed the hell out this trail! 90 degrees and sunny. Easy to follow, not much for sights and views, an ok challenge for a 55 year old.

Very wooded trail in a nice park. Great recreational opportunity in central Illinois. Other than a few steep inclines, I did not find this trail to be very challenging, however. .

There are three trails to choose from at the very end of the road. I took the Independent Mine one which was furthest to the left (808). I treated it as an out and back as I was unsure about the loop. Now I see from map I could have picked up 808a from snow shelter. Lots of flowers, insects (not mosquitoes) and birds. The route is exposed in some areas so it got hot in the direct sun. Small rocks on trail in some places are cumbersome, but overall easy to navigate with no snow. Summit has great views and lots to explore.

Great for a random scoot (hence the name, Rantum Scoot). A great trail for a 1.5 hour walk or so and is dog and family friendly. Enjoy this in the morning or evening walk and in the summer (June until September) bring water as there are some open areas. Have fun!
