Tough climb but beautiful views of the peaks and valleys. We did this on Nov 17, trail was easy to follow - microspikes and poles a must.

I LOVED this hike today. It was stunning with all the snow, reminded me of a winter wonderland. Such a nice and easy hike. Highly recommended

Big bonus for so short and relatively easy trail.

beautiful hike! parked at the closed parking area and walked across the creek, theres a clearly marked trail. its pretty steep the first few kms as you get up to the ridge, a few areas of exposure but mostly in the trees. we went up novemeber 11th and there was snow but some areas were still free of snow, alot more snow on the ridge, spikes are a must!!

went on Nov 11th. Temp -5. Sunny. warms us up fast.
nice little loop around the Quarry lake.
very relaxing walk. nice view of mount lady mcdoanld. also good off leach dog park area. lake was slightly frozen. lots of cute dogs. took us 30 - 45 min with broken legs. not really broken but worn out after mt lady McDonald trail.
peeing in the lake is not at all recommended as it is a very popular community trail.

Great trail with beautiful views. Spikes strongly recommended this time of year. Snowshoes are helpful near the end of the trail as it becomes less packed.

hiked this circuit today, Nov 10. Snow covered trail and the scramble to the summit is intense. definetly wish I packed extra socks and gloves, didn't expect knee deep snow. AMAZING views. not for the faint hearted. took us newbies 5 hrs to complete. didn't give this 5 stars only because lack of direction during decent from summit. golden eagles are big.

Some challenging scrambling near the top, but the view is amazing!

A beautiful location for an off leash dog park! A short walk to the lake and a small loop around it.

Super fun and relatively easy hike! The view at the top is amazing. Can’t wait to snowshoe this trail once more snow comes along.

Parked at closed day use area. Walked north across the river and the trail is very visible. Steep trail be prepared for some leg burn. Completed Nov 5,18 and I didn’t use spikes or poles. Was a little slippery so spikes would be beneficial. Took me 3 hours, very Little climbing rock. Just near the summit you have a tiny scramble. Only got the view for 10 minutes or so because the clouds and snow blew in. Good workout. I will have to do it again on a clear day because I did not get the full view at the summit.

Did this hike Nov 3, 2018. High of 10 degrees, slight wind, mainly overcast. First 60% of the trail was greasy and we had to put on crampons to stop from slipping everywhere. Middle portion ice and some snow. Top portion by lake has deep snow. Crampons necessary and likely snowshoes for upper area. Mud should not be a problem since freezing temps incoming.

This hike isn't what I would call "super easy". More moderate to difficult since it is essentially straight up. Very few flat areas. Use my GPX data since All Trails map is out of date.

The Good:
Nature, outdoors, some okay scenery on the way up, vigorous hike
Scenery around the lakes is beautiful

The Bad:
Aggressive climb from trailhead to lakes
Mostly within treeline
Few views along the way

Really great views once you get past the treeline. We did this hike end of July and it took us 6 hrs with a 30-40 min lunch stop at the top. Beware of the false summit. The first half hour is flat and the trail is well marked. It’s pretty steep all the way up with little breaks to recover. Would rate this hike on the harder side because it is long!

Hiked it NOV. 3rd.. we parked at the day park area which was closed. Followed the trail north along hwy40, that lead into the bushes. trail was steep and Icey going up. Spikes and poles were key, once you get to the ridge you can explore right and left, left will take u up to the summit, pretty easy going from there. 1 foot of snow, but well tracked down. Awesome 360 views of the valley and all peaks around. Absolutely gorgeous.
Decent was icey and muddy, bush waked the whole way down to stay off the muddy trail . Was an awesome hike. We took our time with lots of breaks to take nature in. Up and down in 4 hours.

Great view at top not so much to the west aslougheed and surrounding mountains arein 3000m category. Can see lil part of canmore. Like most summits youll have to prepare for the elements

Did this last year with snowshoes. Super fun!

Not a hard hike, easy trail starting with trees and ending in a freezing cold lake. Be prepared for a wait at the ridge as you are essentially hiking w a huge group of people. Fun, but won’t do it again.

Awesome trail. Just did it yesterday, I recommend spikes as it is pretty snowy and icy going up. The views are amazing and going down through the scree makes for a quick and fun decent.

she didn't have a lot of fun out there today cut the temperature was very mild and the trail was not at all icy.

We went on October 27th, 2018 and it was snowing and windy the whole way up. Crampons or microspikes required! It cleared up a bit by the time we got to the ridge, but conditions were bad enough we didn’t risk going all the way to the summit. Would love to do again in the summer!

Hiked up yesterday and microspikes were the ticket to an easy climb. I also used poles but others didn’t and had no issues. It is more spectacular in the summer but still a stunning backdrop.

As I tell everyone I meet, this is by far my favourite hike in the world. It is an absolute thrilling adventure.

Amazing hike we took the snow shoe trail. Came down to face 3 moose but apart from that loved it

Great shoulder season hike. Gets steeper as you get close to the lake. Managed to do Harvey Pass as well but it is challenging with the snow. Make sure you are prepared if you go past Bourgeau Lake.

Super easy hike - great little hike if you just want something quick.

I’m planning on hiking in a few days for the first time. Is it difficult to find the trail head? This is what I’ve heard. Thanks and sorry I had to rate it to post on here.

This is not an easy hike .. moderate at least .. especially at the moment since you spent the entire time trudging through snow and ice .. must have cleats or poles to get to the top .. well marked but thanks to AllTrails map for helping us though this route .. the view? Stunning. The experience? Absolutely worth it!

What a hike! Did this hike on October 22nd, and the trail had a ton to offer! We did the hike from Ribbon Creek as an out and back. Olympic Summit provided great views of Kanaskis Valley and Mount Lougheed, but the Rock Garden and views from Mt. Allan made the additional trek well worth it. We found the steepness of the hike to be really challenging, but not insurmountable.

Up to Olympic Summit, the ascent was steep with a ton of switchbacks, but the trail had almost no ice or snow to deal with. There were 3 or 4 plateaus up to this point that offered great photo ops. of Kananaskis Valley. Past Olympic Summit, the trail offers otherworldly views of the Rock Garden, we found ourselves stopping frequently just to take it in.

We did use Microspikes twice, once on the final ascent of Olympic Ridge, and again on the final push to the summit of Mt. Allan. The snow got much deeper on the final push from the Rock Garden to Mt. Allan, but the footprints from those before us were helpful to follow. The views at the top of Mt. Allan are panoramic.

In total we were on trail for about 8 hours, with over 4.5 hours of that spent on the ascent, including two decent food breaks. We didn't pass any other hikers on the trail, but it was a Monday.

Excellent hike. One of my favorites

This trail was just what we needed. Great views. The trail is in great condition, some cool more technical parts at the top. Bring your cleats and good energy for an amazing hike.
