nice easy trail with beautiful views)

Great for toddlers

Great views. Quite a few stairs. Wagon road trail will also get you to the falls with different views (forest vs rivers) but when coming back to the parking lot seemed easier so maybe doing the loop the opposite way (wagon road to the falls and the franklin falls back to the car) would be easier for someone with any knee issues.

Great for little kids. Trail is well kept. Parking can be a challenge even during the weekdays.

fun short hike!

Fun little hike. Pretty. Short, but fairly steep so I felt like I got some exercise, too.

Still closed above the bridge.

Discovery Pass is required. We hiked the Yakima rim trail. The trail is well established. And the rocky trail helps at times as stepping stones. There are posts along the way which help as markers. There's good views of Selah, Mt Adam's, and mT Rainier, as well as the Canyon. The mountain side had been recently burnt . At the top looking at the Canyon road we did catch a glimpse of four rams. On hot days there is no shade So be wary of that. Over all, I rate this trail as an easy trail to almost or maybe a moderate trail

steep and challenging hike but worth it once you get to the waterfall

Cool and shaded the entire way, with several access points to the river early on. Get there early to avoid crowds and the parking lot fills up fast.
There is a restroom at the trailhead.

Super kid friendly, well groomed trails, fantastically rewarding destination!!!

Google sent us in from the West but the road is washed out. Come in from the East side. Paved roads the whole way.
Great maintained trail up the caves. As you start heading downhill you are almost there. Make sure to do the scramble to the waterfall over the logs and rocks to the back cave. Then head back and do the big cave which will lead you through the pitch black and back up to the main trail.

Don’t forget flash light and water friendly shoes :)

when will this be open ???

This was an amazing hike easy and well shaded with beautiful trees. This trail is definitely well maintained. Be careful climbing down the rock to get directly to the falls, it was a bit slippery but well worth it. You can get as close as you want to the waterfall. This is the best waterfall I’ve seen in the PNW to date for me, no extreme elevations, round trip 2 miles, and you get an amazing up close view of the falls at the end.

Best beginner trail, starting with darling water flows on your sides then with decent minimal elevation ,with plenties birds sounds and very easy stepping blocks to walkers and hikers. After u parked on designated park , there no sign u must go to an intersections that shows where to actually yhe trail entrance , yeah tricky and u must look around a bit. in winter , differerent story, u might not be able to enter the radius street up to 5 miles, u may need to walk through icey road, yes u will slip, with spikea, get spikea on winter okay. it is a beautiful water falls , i just wish took down that bridge ... ugly in my photo

Use road NF 48 up to trailhead #86. The road is ok for travel minus one large rut which might give cars an issue.

The Trail is still covered with large amounts of hard packed snow about 6 miles in, which are acrossed very steep sections. I made it to the base of Johnson's peak, but I would recommend going that far till about the end of July.

beautiful hike! the water fall at the end was very rewarding, especially on a hot day! bring your water shoes

I’m grateful I did this hike last year when I was able to. It wasn’t in my original plan, to do this hike but to hear, it’s closed, I’m so happy I did. The trial is mostly up hill not too bad let’s just say I made it up and that’s all that matters. Once at the top it all worth it and I was all smiles. I saw an eagles nest on the way down, chipmunks, got chance to taste the water, and the upper view of the waterfall was simply Amazing. When it opens back up I will definitely do it again.

Beautiful, easy hike, with direct access to the waterfall. Made many stops along the trail and it only took two hours.

Great family hike for young children.Beautiful scenery.Well maintained trail.

Great family friendly hike. I brought my two year old and he had a blast. Had to keep him away from the edge on some parts but overall easy short hike with lots to see!!!

This hike set the bar too high for the rest of the hikes in my life. BEAUTIFUL scenery. Can get pretty crowded but totally worth it.

06.16.2018 Very easy trail for kids. High traffic today, possibly because it’s Saturday. Highly recommend hiking boots because some parts are wet and muddy. Next time I’ll bring a towel because I got pretty close to the fall and got wet. On the way back we took the Wagon Trail to end with a loop and avoid the traffic of people on the Franklin Falls Trail; was way quicker to get back to the parking lot.

We went on Monday the 11th, and had a wonderful time. Instead of taking the Franklin Falls trail, we took the Old Wagon Trail to Franklin Falls and only ran into two groups while walking. We had a much quieter time, highly recommend if you don't mind crossing the road a few times (though the trail is clearly marked with spray paint), the falls were gorgeous and the hike was short and sweet.

6/13/18: Went with my wife (mid 20s), her two sisters (mid 20s), and her parents (mid 50s). Took us just under 2 hours total and was a total of 3 miles. It was a rainy day so not many people on the trail and we were the only ones at the waterfall. Pretty easy hike overall and trail is very well kept. Would recommend hiking boots since it’s pretty muddy and there’s some rocks you have to climb down at the end to get to the waterfall. Waterfall and river are beautiful and you can walk right up to it. Nice easy and short hike!
