Drive to the trailhead was easy. Ice on a few areas of the trail. Used spikes; no problem! Beautiful hike this morning!

Loved it

bring lots of water regardless of time of year. Little shade.

Awesome hike. The way up is almost as enjoyable as the view at the top. Slick in many places. We started by 9 and didn’t see too many people. We also did Horsethief and checked out the frozen waterfall. A great day.

Beautiful views, great workout. Took Blackmer Loop to Cougars Shadow, back to the loop. Definitely mountain lion territory! As of today (3/3/18) there were still some slick muddy areas, but nothing a little bushwacking along the trail couldn't avoid.

Beautiful views. Easy rather than moderate.

Beautiful area and not very busy on a Saturday afternoon.

Some of the trail had tree cover, sunscreen optional.

If you look at the recordings, you will noticed there are multiple tracks for this area. My recording is for the "Overlook Loop", which was amazing.

AllTrails does not have a way to communicate with other outdoor enthusiast, I can be reached on Facebook Messenger if you have any questions about this trail.

Great hike, wide paths, easy to follow. Dino tracks were amazing. We went 2/17/18, weather was great. Plan enough time, we got back about dark, and temps fall fast when the sun goes down.

Hiked 3/2/18. As previously reported the road to trailhead is snow covered. I made it fine with AWD and you could make it with 2wd BUT if someone else is coming the other direction then you might get stuck trying to move over for them. Fantastic hike overall. Trail was snow covered but spikes were not needed

spectacular trail with much to see and experience!

Beautiful short hike....falls are the perfect place for a picnic..

Always beautiful...hiked with a friend....after working overnight...relatively easy hike with stunning views at the top....

Beautiful trail, steeped in history. We went 2/15...no snow (thankfully). This trail has VERY little shade, maybe a large boulder or two along the way, please bring lots of water. We only made it to the dinosaur tracks... Thoes were super cool. Crossing the river is not a necessity as the tracks are on both sides, but we did. The Purgatory River was freezing cold but refreshing after walking in the sun for a few hours. It was not very deep maybe 8-10 inches. Heed the warnings about bringing water and being aware of your surroundings. We did not see any wild life other than birds but noticed there was a lot of droppings on the trail.

Easy to follow the entire way. Absolutely stunning views by the pancake rocks. Some of the nicest hikers and dog-friendly folk I've yet encountered. What a great surprise it was like a fall day in February.

Hiked 2/3/18. Road to trailhead was snow covered. 4wd/Awd helpful, but there was one 2wd vehicle in parking lot. Much of the trail was packed snow and some ice. Traction not necessary, but trekking poles were helpful. Nice views

great little trail with awesome views.

Great views, nice rock outcroppings, family friendly.

A beautiful hike, especially in the Fall.

Easy hike and gorgeous views.

Took the trail to left. The hike was short, easy and no incline! The view was beautiful and very peaceful and I would recommend this hike to all skill levels.

This is an easy trail to find (trailhead is next to a short train tunnel on the side of the road). It is a relatively steep trail but very well marked and relatively well traveled. We typically carry up a lunch with us and sit on the rocks overlooking the valley. It has been an annual hike for us for the last 12 years on vacation and will continue to be so.

Relatively lightly traveled and not especially hard. The views are beatiful. The first time we attempted it a few years ago, some of the markers had been knocked down and we could not complete it, but since then, we have returned to find it well marked and worth the hike!

Really enjoyed this hike. Beautiful every step of the way. Light snow 1/2 to 1" much of the trail. the rocks at the end are slippery but the views you pay for are more than worth it.

Do not do this trail alone unless you have a great deal of experience in dealing with the outdoors. At some points the trail does not look like it is the trail but that is because it goes through all kinds of trees, rocks, and falling limbs, rocks, and knocked over trees. You will have to work around some of it. Especially if you want to bring young ones, please make sure you are 100% aware of the turns and marks of the trail. To in experienced persons, it can vary from moderate to hard. There are animals all over the place and the tracks and feces will prove that. I saw over 30 deer and tons of bear paw prints. Personally, wouldn't recommend attending this alone or at least without letting someone know where you are and giving them a timeline on when you will let you know you are safe. (but that's for any trail too) Nonetheless, absolutely breathtaking views and such an enjoyable hike. Will do again, and again, and again.

Trail today was snow packed. Spikes are recommended:) the trail was beautiful today.
