off road driving

A nice drive, with an emphasis on “drive”.

If you’re looking for a nice drive with okay scenery then look no further. On the contrary, if you’re hoping to off-road, there are offshoots (one of which is Holy Jim). Other than that, this is definitely an easy to moderate trail.

I saw a coyote pup and a rabbit while hiking on the trail. Beautiful views with well maintained dirt roads. Up and down steep hills all along the way. Bring plenty of water - a great trail for running!

It’s an easy hike to the sinks...definitely worth doing! Lots of other options on open access day in Limestone.

Great hiking trail with multiple hills and great views of the Pacific Ocean. This is our go-to hike near our home in OC.

Easy to get to, didn’t see any rattlesnakes and the top is fun with the flags and a sunrise to start off your day.

Great workout if you take the loop counter clockwise. Hiked it in about 2 hours. Lots of dog poop though. Hazy day. Heavy traffic. Local favorite right off the highway.

Good hike. Taking the advice of others I went right at the junction. Made it a much better hike. Would do it again anytime.

Good workout. Rocky most of Trail so watch your step. It was very hazy at early morning so no real vista view from top this trip.

Great hike with an awesome waterfall to play around or near. Fun little "pool" area at the base of the falls to cool down in. Our dog loved it too. If u do bring your dog go early because of the heat....and plenty of water for you and your pooch. Hike back wasn't too bad, the last .5 mile back was probably the hardest. Only saw one snake..

very good hike. To make it hard and the full 4.2 miles go right on the fork in the road. This will have you going up the stairs instead of coming down them.

Beautiful and challenging

Beautiful views. Make sure to purchase a permit. One permit for 5 people. Bring plenty of water and food. Don't forget your hat and sunscreen lotion because there are no shades. It was easy on the way down to the water fall. Yet, on the way back was a challenging. There was a little snake in the water. Be careful. I was there last week, July 1st.

Is a great work out ! No shades but nice view! ! Highly recommend

Don't do this in the heat. Wait until cooler weather. Nearly had a heat incident because i also ran out of water (3L). Two rattlesnake encounters. The views at the peak were meh, but I went for the workout anyway. View of the trail is nice towards the peak tho.

Edit: This trail and the peak are consumed in the Holy Fire.

Didn’t get to the falls (couldn’t get a $10 permit) but nice hike nonetheless

Love this hike! Good amount of parking, scenic mountains on the way down and decent work out on the way back. Wear a bathing suit and pack a lunch and hang near the water for a bit. I swam before hiking back to help beat the heat. There is zero shade besides down by the water so be smart. I went last week and there really was just a trickle vs a waterfall but definitely still worth the hike. Oh and get your permit - they checked mine at the tent before entering and then again after I had already done ~2 miles.

Decent hike around Crystal Cove Park - completely unshaded. A nice way to end the hike is to go to Laguna Beach :) There are many rolling hills along the way for a good workout.

I finished this in under 3 hours.

Fabulous hike!! Last 3/4 of a mile is on Portola Parkway though...kind of a bummer to end such a gorgeous hike.

Great conditioning hike going up the BFI with amazing view of Newport Coast and PCH. For an extra challenge, after BFI, go down East Cross Over then up Poles :))

A great workout for hiking

volunteeer-led urban wild park hike with a group of 20. Great volunteers. Nice countryside and the limestone sink overlook is interesting. However, I prefer a less social hiking experience but that's not an option as the park access is regulated. Understandable, but disappointing nonetheless. Road noise as we hiked up the small ridge but that faded as we dropped down into the canyon on the back half of the loop. Personally I would rate this hike as easy.

If you'd like to hike this trail you'll need to make an advanced reservation for a guided hike, otherwise you'll be trespassing to reach what's known as Orange County's Grand Canyon (The Sinks). The various hikes offered are quite long and challenging, typically between 7-13 miles round-trip featuring different scenery and different viewpoints. You'll need to pre-book your hike at least a few weeks in advance as there are very limited spaces available, usually 20 people per hike. This trail is not that beautiful. I mean...if it’s all you have then fine. But there is no greenery, telephone poles along the route and yes the coast is nice but it’s obstructed by peoples houses!! If you want a long hike to do and not drive far, this is a good choice. But it’s not as beautiful as it’s made out to be. I parked near the baseball field to avoid the $15 parking fee....which also is absolutely ridiculous.

Beautiful hike!! But be aware that you need a permit. They have a tent pitched at the trailhead and wont let you go past without one. The way down was easy, but the way back up was tougher. Its not steep, but if its hot the granite makes it extremely hot and there is no shade. Bring a gallon per person, youll definitely need it. The water was trickling today, but there was a decent amount in the pool. It looked too stagnant to swim in, but people were in there anyway. Id definitely do it again, or try the two trails that branch from the north and south.

One of my favorite local hikes. Good workout and beautiful flowers and views.

This hike was fun and challenging if you’re a newbie like me! The route we took did have a lot of hikes up hills and my legs were jelly by the time we were done. The scenery, serenity and confidence boosting was all worth it! Absolutely gorgeous to find this gem in OC! Well worth it, don’t bring children on the long hikes and there are in fact rattlesnakes!

Getting to the waterfall was a piece of cake, but coming back was draining. The heat didn’t help matters either. Make sure you bring LOTS of water!!! The waterfall had trickling water but the pool was full. The sight was worth the hike. I would definitely come back. Overall, it was a great hike!

Went early at 7am. The hiking in/out was great! There was no creek to cross and the waterfall didn't have a lot of water but it's still very pretty! Cool weather today, out by 10:30 in the morning. Perfect day for a hike.

Get a permit beforehand. This trail is pretty easy as long as the weather is nice. There is no real climb; it is mostly switchbacks. The waterfall was awesome.

BTW... We saw a dead rattlesnake on the trail. Someone had smashed it with a rock. Yikes!

at first the incline is intense but over all its a good easy trail. it's easy just a long trail.
