This a really nice hike, it gets a little technical as you near the summit, need to pay attention to the trail markers as they aren’t always visible. Used this app to navigate back to the trail which was very helpful!!! Enjoyed the view from up top, relaxed on the bench and read a few notes from other hikers/adventurers. Definitely worth the trip!

Early November was a perfect time if year for this fun trail.

Great workout! This trail is very rocky so proper footwear is definitely needed. You will need to climb using your hands in a few sections. Gorgeous views at the top!

scenic but very rocky at certain areas, had to pay attention where to step and not twist an ankle. Was hoping to see more wildlife as spoken of in other reviews, maybe it was to cold.
Elevation wasn't to bad

nice and tough. good hike to do in the morning even later morning, sun is not hitting your face and trail gains good elevation making your heart rate just right. nice exercise.

Excellent hike with amazing views. Was very happy we didn’t take the pups, a lot of cactus and very rocky.

My favorite Maricopa County hike. Cool air, trees, adrenaline, and jaw-dropping vistas. If you have a fear of heights, however, or if you don’t trust your arm strength/balance, do not attempt to reach the top. As others have mentioned, the chute (the area in between the two northernmost peaks) can be quite intimidating, especially for inexperienced climbers. That being said, I’d guess it’s doable for about 90% of people who are reading this.

As a further warning, keep an eye out for the turnoff on your way down the chute. Due to the steep descent, it’s easy to keep your eyes on the ground and miss the trail. That happened to us, but as a result, we were rewarded with a truly awe-inspiring sunset. Best views in Maricopa County.

best hike in Scottsdale Phoenix area. Not as rough as echo canyon but very challenging. great views.

Great workout! Slightly overcrowded and parking can get wild but the views great!

They view were spectacular and the hike was scenic. I completed this hike solo and found great difficulty in navigating it as the trail was horribly marked. I must have spent and extra hour or two trying to find the trail both on the way up and he way down. What can I say, I was determined. I will not be hiking this solo ever again. A group is recommended. I left my fair share of cairns to help those future venturers, if you could contribute as well, please do.

Awesome brother-sister hike!

Great Hike Today!!! Beautiful with a nice trail variety for a hard hike. Be sure to take the immediate Left as you enter (before check in station) or you’ll be driving all over. Bathroom at Trail. Sadly some garbage along the way....

Rocky but worth the climb!

Awesome views, clean area, different options

A little crowded but a great hike with an excellent reward. Beautiful sunrise!!

HIKED to the TOP.. Awesome and challenging. Not for those who like inner city hikes.

Tips:
Wear leather hiking boots with good ankle support. Avoid wearing sneakers there is Cholla cactus on trail.

HIKING POLES for balance especially when getting through the big rocks.

3 Liters of water minimum.

Good Snacks to keep up you energy.

4 wheel drive vehicle to get you to the trail head.

Beautiful sunset spot!! Pretty steep areas so make sure you wear hiking boots.

Great hike!! Recommend going before sunrise, and hike as the sun rises. I started climbing around 630am. Extraordinary views. I made it to the peak. I’m not an experienced
hiker but I am very athletic so it was a pretty difficult hike but wasn’t bad at all until about the last leg of the hike-as others had stated complete stair climber machine! I sat at the peak for awhile moving from the few areas to sit and the longer I sat the more people joined. I started the decent about 9am and on my run down it was getting very crowded but very hot. Had no experienced with any wildlife but again amazing views especially while the sun is rising the mountains surrounding captured the sunlight perfectly! Backpacks not needed just water and a snack-however I did carry one with my GoPro and snacks.

Great trail! Mostly well maintained and easy to follow. Lot’s of great views of Weaver’s Needle from every angle. Love the Superstitions!

I've hiked here twice, once with others and another time with my small dog. Not too difficult if you hike often, though 1 person in my group started having difficulty towards the top and coming down.

Not sure why this is saying it’s a loop trail because it’s not. Second water trail is an out and back trail and it’s awesome. This must be second water to boulder canyon to loss Dutchman back to second water.

12.5 Miles

I’ve always been an avid hiker who puts his fear of heights aside to get up to the top, and this peak was no different. However, I admit it definitely was a challenge for me. The last approx 0.2 miles of the trail gains about 800 feet in elevation. With an average incline of 37 degrees and some parts significantly steeper, my adrenaline was definitely rushing on some of the cliffs that were our route. It was incredibly worth it. The fact it rained made it dangerous, so check the weather (and yesterday’s). The last 1/2 mile before reaching the sharp incline is poorly defined. Follow closely to avoid pushing yourself to go through misleading treacherous ways to get to the same place... although, some of that was great fun! Lastly, the views couldn’t be beat in the area.

Pretty busy, but a great hike. Short enough if you're tight on time but hard enough to make it worth your while.

Y’all are wild if ya mountain biking this. Overall fun trail.

Beautiful and hard hike. The AllTrails rating of ‘moderate’ is incorrect. The trailhead has it rated as ‘extremely difficult’ which is correct. Lots of steep climbs and it is fairly long 6.8 miles. But incredible views and happened upon a rattlesnake and a king snake. Bottomline, leave early, no dogs for sure due to terrain and difficulty, and be in shape!

Great hike all the way around.

This was the first trail I ever hiked. I did it as a teenager on a field trip with my church. Beautiful views of the Vulture Mountains! Don't forget to sign the guest book at the summit. There is a camp ground with facilities at the base of the mountain. Fun place to spend the weekend with friends and family. An Arizona State trust land permit is required to camp at the facilities.

Im not sure Id mountain bike, but this is a good trail. Nothing undoable but definitely a workout

This was a great hike and enjoyed the views going up for sure. Tried to get to the trail this past winter and failed due to the sandy beach stopped me In my tracks. This time did a dry run to the trailhead with my jeep And made it there and back and had a good time in the jeep. Went back today with my hiking buddy and it was nice. Took about an hour to get to the trailhead and one other couple was on their way out. We hike about 3 miles out and never could find our way to the peak. Turned around due to making sure we had enough water for the trip back (took 3 liters with us and another bottle of pedialyte as well). There were a few shades spots we stopped at to drink and take in the views. Hoping next time we do make it to the top!
