Steep and beautiful hike. The views were amazing especially with the leaves changing colours.

Beautiful ridge hike! Would recommend going clockwise so you don't have to scramble down.

Led Zeppelin wrote a song about this hike i think? The majority of the hike is in the trees with a steady incline. We hit the summit in under 3 hours and roundtrip was under 5; including a beer break and some goofing around at the summit. Great views from the top. We could not find the hot springs. Would do it again to find them. Great echo from the top to practice your goat calls. Baaaahhh.

A group of 7 of us just did this hike on Tuesday September 11th 2018 and it’s now my favourite! Even my 9 1/2 year old dog, Jada did it with us. Incredible views the entire time. Highly recommended! We completed the hike clockwise as suggested. You want to do this hike on a clear day to admire the amazing views. With 7 of us and a dog, lots of picture breaks and snack breaks it took us 6 hours. But we were slow! We saw three grizzlies!! They were grazing on the mountain side so they were far away from the group! Amazing to watch them through the binoculars.

One of my favourite views so far, easy hike until you get to the end. Bring poles, otherwise getting down ya a struggle!

Incredible! We were lucky enough to have an inversion today. Could not have asked for a better way to experience this hike. Wouldn’t want to attempt this in snow or wet, but if the weather is dry enough, this is a superb day out. We took 5 hours with lots of breaks just chilling along the Ridge soaking it in. Would recommend starting from the South and going clockwise. Add it to your must do list. Well worth the drive from Calgary.

Short hike up to the pass, then scramble to the summit, which was a long and exhausting, two step forward one step back climb. The warm spring was a nice detour.

Absolutely amazing hike- one of my favourites! The hike up to the top of the ridge is quite steep, but very worth it. Views from the top are spectacular! Try and arrive early, as the parking lot fills up quickly. Completed the hike in approx 5 hours, with a 45 min break at the top.

Absolutely stunning. Ridge hike is challenging and very steep, you may need to slide on your butt in a few parts on your way down! However , so worth it to see the views at the top ❤️

A moderate hike with so much beautiful views, especially in September.
I did it yesterday, 9th of September.

One of my all time annual favorites; any weather or any season. Always best counterclockwise.

did it yesterday with the rest of Hike Alberta crew (I admit that's how I found out about this gem also!). agree on comments, it's hard up the ridge (not moderate). Had my 3 yo boxer, we were fine (used to hiking up and down mountains together), but I caution others if doing it with their dogs - you need to be used to steep climbs and descends attached to your dog before you do this one!.. spectacular view at top..

Very nice hike. Good to get there early on the weekend.
Plan a good 5 to 6 hrs. Sarrail Ridge part is steep but manageable. Get's quite slick if a bit of rain. Views from the top a worth the effort. Highly recommend this one.

Awesome hike, would say it's moderately hard but not super difficult if you go at your own pace! Definitely start clockwise as everyone suggests. This hike took us 4 hours and 20 minutes with a snack break and LOTS of picture breaks to capture the non-stop amazing views. It gets quite windy up top because you're on top of a mountain and there is nothing to stop the wind, so wear layers - I'd even recommend gloves and maybe even a toque! I'm not a very accomplished hiker, and I didn't find this hike to be intimidating at all. Don't let some of the other reviews and mention of scrambling scare you! Would definitely recommend this to anyone look for a challenging but rewarding hike!

Great hike - absolutely beautiful - both Rawson lake and the views from the Sarrail Ridge. As other people said, not sure who rated Sarrail part as moderate - it is a very steep climb, good shoes are a must, and hiking poles would really help (I wish I had them). I would not try the Sarrail part when it rains - would be too slippery. On a dry day it's totally worth the effort but be prepared for a steep climb. Very popular on weekend.

Would give it 5 stars for beauty and 1 star for moderate trail as it was certainly not moderate for me. It was an absolute beautiful hike aside from the life altering scramble to the top of the mountain. When my daughter and I did finally reach the top (she first as she was in far better shape than I) we were greeted by an eagle or two and said hello to a mountain goat. Had lunch at the top in blissful peace as we started out early. I apologized to many little trees on the way back down the mountain as the path was loose and was afraid I wasnt gonna make it in one piece. Would have been better ascending via helicopter. How in gods name did this get rated as moderate i'll never know. Again I say the views were spectacular and was worth it even though my legs are still shaking several hours later.

Awesome hike!

Love this hike. Beautiful lake views and fantastic rewards. Go early, by 10 am it’s hard to get down off the ridge when there are throngs on people trying to get up. No bear sightings. Didn’t have poles, me and the dog were the first people up that day.

Closed for another month :(

This ones on my top five under six. Beautiful quick incline all the way up, trails are quite clear; lots of foot traffic. If you make it to the flag at the peak the views are spectacular.
On a side note if you head right at the top you can also do Miners Peak so you can check off two amazing hikes in one day trip. Happy hiking.

The view!!!

I love this hike and was hoping to squeeze it in on sept 8th. Can anyone confirm if it’s open? I was there two weeks ago and the sign said it would be open by aug 28th.

A really fun hike, with beautiful waterfalls, streams, a canyon and a very rewarding lake. Recommend jumping into the cold glacier water because after all, you've earned it! This hike does have a cool feature which is a cave you climb through. This hike is definitely worth doing with some friends.

Terrible terrible mountain to hike. I wouldn't have gone there if I had known that hiking would turned into climbing. I'm so glad that I am still alive.

Still closed on Sept. 6.

Great hike that isn't the most difficult but you get superb views. When we hiked it was very smokey but still the views were amazing. You can do the hike in either direction and i think either way is just as challenging. Will do this great hike again when the air is crisp and there is no smoke.

Loved this hike! Steep right away till you hit the ridge with a few short level(ish) spots on the way up. Amazing views from the ridge, gorgeous all the way along. Go all the way to the end for a tiny scramble to the highest point and more amazing views beyond. Will be back for sure! One thing to note, I read in a blog post that there was the "new trail" which you follow to the left, and the "old trail" to the right. I think we wound up on the old one on the way down because it was a bit steeper and had some small rock ledges to climb down which we definitely didn't encounter on our way up. Nothing crazy though, and made for a more interesting descent in the end. 4 Stars only because I would have liked it more if it was longer and a bit more challenging. I would rate it more moderate than hard.
