Great trail. Walked with my 10 years old daughter and her friend. Good walk out.

The scenery is okay, but when you get to the top the views are beautiful. The hike is fairly easy. Well marked and clean trails. You can end the day at the beach with the same day pass.

Good Long trail steady climb. And obviously the awesome photo opp at the end

Nice campsites, clean toilet, great view. A little damp in the morning from coastal dew

Easy practically flat trail. Beware lots of bike riders, some are nice enough to let you know they are coming close. Busy on the weekends. Nice waterfall at the end of the trail to refresh yourself in.

Got a little lost and went up through the canyons but overall not too bad. Lots of steep parts. There’s an ocean view only in the beginning or end of the trail depending which end you start at. The rest of the trail is just dried shrubbery.

Expect to pay $15 day parking on the weekend. M-F parking is only $5!

Overall good workout and great weather!

Love everything about this hike.

Park on Foothill Prkwy near trailhead sign. Skyline Drive is a maintenance/fire road, graded and approx 12’ wide. Other trails fork off but the main road continues to the Doppler Radome (and beyond).
Not much incline the first 1/2 mile. Past the residential area the climb begins and continues for the next 3+ miles. Nothing too drastic or difficult, just constant, every step uphill. Near the last mile the trail levels out, then descends a bit, then climbs again to the dome.
I went on a Friday morning so past the residential “dog walk” area trail traffic was very light. Only saw a few other hikers and mtn bikers during the hike.
The canyon side of the trail is open, the other hugs the mountain which provides some shade along the way. Nice views of Chino Valley and Corona (north), Lake Matthews (east) and Cleveland National Forest/OC beyond from the top (south). Took 2hrs 10min on way up, approx 1hr 45min way down. Stay hydrated, pack 2L water minimum + snacks for energy. Be safe and have fun!

Nice hike, and my advice is to go up first because it makes the part through the creek so sweet.

Great little out and back trail! Not completely flat, but not overly challenging, either. Terrain is very dry, but that's no surprise right now. Creek was flowing a little bit, nice to be able to walk along some water. Lots of available, free parking at the trailhead. Directions from All Trails are perfect. No restrooms or drinking water. Will definitely do this again when all I have time for is a quick, local hike.

no water right now, very overgrown. would be great in season

Very nice easy trail. Restrooms at the interpretive center. Mostly paved except the dirt side trails.

Fun hike for any ages.

Beautiful hike. Difficult but worth it! Start early park closes gates strictly 5pm

Perfect to test our skills

I had a difficult time finding the entrance to this ‘trail’ tucked in behind a marina. This trail is a paved blacktop road suitable for biking walking or running. The scenery is beautiful, but there is not much shade. Safe place to run, with beautiful views and no traffic.

trail running

Favorite run while visiting Newport Beach. Dirt trail, rolling hills, and partial coverage make this a fun, scenic, and comfortable run for those not afraid to tackle some steep inclines and declines.

Excellent

I like this trail because of the challenging uphill segments and the cool ocean breeze. I like it even more now that I run into occasional hikers more frequently than I used to, so I don't feel like it is dangerous to go alone.

I’ve done this loop dozens of times and it’s always nice. Wonderful views of the Bay! The section to the south is far less traveled. The peak can be a bit windy and/or chilly, so bring a light jacket if you plan on hanging out.

Definitely a hard trail with little shade and the sun coming down on your skin. Arrived at the entrance at 6:30 am and it was the best decision because by 8 am the sun was beaming. Beautiful views with a great feeling of accomplishment afterwards. I Recommend getting there super early no later than 7 if you want to avoid the sun and enjoy the sunrise

Great 2ish hour hike! Incline is a bit steep otw up but the views are definitely pretty! No shade so wear a hat!

Well maintained dirt road, easy to park and find trail head, wide trail and when you get to the last 1/3 where the rock trail begins the terraine gets more challemging but we saw a 4 yr old doing it so really not hard at all. Great trail day!

Was a difficult hike but the views along the way is fantastic specially seeing clouds beneath you!

was looking forward to the trial but it was closed today 11/01/18

This hike was intense. I will for sure do it again. The view is amazing .

Trail is actually 5.2 using Cougar. Nice tail in the city good to have.
