Easy paved loop with excellent people watching opportunities.

love it

This trail appeared shorter than advertised. The start of the trail is not well marked so it’s difficult to find the trailhead although once underway all other intersecting trails were readily identifiable. The flush toilets at the parking area were a definite plus. I would rate this trail as easy and not moderate.

Great labeling of the wild flowers.

This is the shorter version of lake Anza. Not really a hike, just walking round a small lake though. Do the other hike

Awesome... I've walked all the embarcadero many times. I use to work some at pier 23 and later at pier 51. A pleasure to walk any of it.

Shaded beautiful trail.Worth it!!

One of my favorite hikes! Really nice views if you hit it on a non-foggy day, but the eucalyptus groves in thick fog are just as pretty. Challenging enough to feel like a workout but not too tough. Nice choice for dog walking too.

Iconic mandatory walk or run while in Oakland. Just watch your step here and there for geese poop.

It's a good beginner trail. Some good views.

A little too steep for me sometimes but overall really beautiful hike with amazing views, sun & shade and little food/horse traffic during the week!

Wide trail; no part was too difficult. Saw a gopher snake. Good views, and lightly traveled.

Covered throughout with lots of green. Educational signs about the plants are an added bonus (even if some may be outdated), not to mention that huckleberries throughout!

Really cute- lush green, many feens & huge bay trees. Mostly shaded, easy.

Good trail. Soil and rocky. If you use poles the rocky parts are difficult to get a grip but it’s a good work out and is clearly marked. I’m more partial to narrow trails but you get good views of the San Pablo and Briones Reservoirs and the Bay.

It's a great place for a long walk. A great for taking photos of sunsets.

Nice little hike.. good hike to give kids extra experience.

Took a hike here at midday - great hike. Very short, but nice to get away for a little while.

Beautiful, wooded trail in the city but because there are so many intersecting routes that meet this particular, somewhat confusing, one it was difficult to stay on course and cumbersome to keep checking my phone on such narrow walkways.

Beautiful views and an easy loop with a couple side trails. Definitely moderate. Nice picnic table with a swirl of rocks to have a snack on, but it is windy and chilly in the morning, so bring a jacket!

Good views, even through the fog. Nice elevation gain from the parking lot followed by a flat trail. My only complaint is that the trail was pretty overgrown or narrow in some places and LOTS of poison oak. Keep an eye out for it!

Excellent hike, but would put it in the moderate category. Trail was very rocky in some parts and there is a 6” ledge along part of the lake that was a little treacherous.

enter and exit with Sunshine but in the middle of the trail there might be frost and slight rain so the road is a little muddy.

There is a couple of benches towards the end of the trail that overlook the beach. Very beautiful coastal scenery! Visited 8/5/2018

FYI no bathroom. Nice trail though.

The path is wide and well signed. It starts with a gentle incline through mostly exposed ravine. This takes you over the hill and back towards the road. From the new trail head, you walk steadily uphill through partially shaded trees to the ridge line. Once at the top you are rewarded with views of East Bay hills and reservoirs on one side and Bridges and bayviews to the other side. There are some nice benches to sit and enjoy the vistas. Then, it is a shady decline through bay and eucalyptus trees. Some parts are a bit rocky and steep, but doable.
