Rucked this trail with 20lbs. It was a moderate hike with some challenging parts, but overall a great hike. Traffic was minimal during the early morning.

Hiked towards the tail end of August and caught a little rain, but it was nice. I parked at the lowest parking lot (I’m trying to get rid of this spare tire and wanted the extra mileage) so I can’t give any tips on the road up. Tip for 1st lot parkers.... DONT WALK UP THE ACCESS ROAD. Use the Spruce Trail to get to Mohawk Lakes. It was super lush and green. The trail is marked with blue diamonds nailed to trees to help stay you on the path. If you make it to Lower Mohawk, take the extra time to go all the way to Upper Mohawk. The views are better and the upper lake’s water is crazy blue. When you get to the upper lake hang a left and gain a little more elevation to really see how blue the water is. 4/5 stars because the trail is a bit spotty towards the end. I took a wrong turn once that lead me away from the planned destination but it’s no big deal. Exploring is what it’s all about

Awesome hike, albeit quick and easy.

One of my favorite hikes I've done. I'd say it's more of a moderate / little hard hike. The last part is the gnarliest, long stone steps to the top, and a little scramble up a waterfall before reaching the top. Bring a rain jacket or windbreaker. The wind is pretty crazy.

Gorgeous hike - highly recommend.

Start early and start at GG trailhead..

Lots of steps at the top of this climb, but I really enjoyed it. I’m not in great shape, but was able to complete the climb without too much trouble. I felt pretty proud when I completed the climb, as it was a nearly 1000 ft increase in elevation. There is a bathroom towards the top of the trail, which was a nice convenience.

challenging, at some points you're going up steps that are 1-2ft high. but the view is 100% worth it, and the lake is beautiful. don't go in it, tho, there are leeches!

It’s a fun hike up to the lake with tons to see on the way. Dream Lake was our favorite part of the hike - absolutely gorgeous, we felt at point like we’d stepped into a lord of the rings movie. I agree the trail is moderate depending on the person. We hiked it pretty quickly but there were a couple parts that got a little steep. It’s partially paved or there are rock steps pretty much the whole way though. Great hike and would do it again! We got there early around 7am and it was not too crowded at all - go early.

Very pretty hike with good elevation gain, but huge crowds...

The lake is beautiful! It can get difficult at points on the trail but nothing too crazy. We are 30 year olds in relativity good shape and didn't need to take any breaks. The amount of people going up and down will give you quick breathers as you go. Highly recommend this trail!

This trail is gorggggg. We went during the week so didn’t have an issue with parking. I typically try not to repeat hikes since there are so many trails to be traveled in CO, but I’d totally do this again with visitors. It’s an easy hike and it’s beautiful the whole way to the lake. The lake itself was, as my visitor said, “the exact scene I wanted at the end of the trail.”

Beautiful, easy, hike! Got there around 9AM and it was extremely crowded the whole time. However, the views and lakes truly are incredible.

Wow this hike was magical! Had to get off the trail a few times to let elk pass by, the views are incredible the entire hike. I would do this hike again!

This was a hard hike. Straight up and very rocky

Great, easy hike. Hiked Saturday 8/18 and arrived around 10 AM to a fairly full parking lot but got lucky finding a spot in Lot 2. Lots of people hiking up and down and trail etiquette could definitely be better. Storm rolled in as we hit the lake so we turned back and jogged down (fun but a bit sketchy with all of the rocks).

Returned Sunday 8/19 around 12 PM to an overflowing lot and had to wait for a space. Eventually got in and up past the lake and over the glacier. Crossed the glacier in a narrow spot and did a little bouldering. Great time!!

While this is an easy hike, we did see people walking up in shorts and t shirts with no rain gear and a small bottle of water as the rain was starting. Always go prepared!

It was a cloudy and cooler day but the views are still amazing. A very well traveled and marked trail most of the way. There is an area that is confusing as there are many paths up on the the steeper accents before getting to lower Mohwak Lake. Just pick one and follow a general up and right direction and you’ll me fine. Don’t stop at just the lower lake. Take the few minutes more to se the upper lake too!

Great scenery. Easy route. Lots of people with lots of dogs. Very limited parking at trailhead, be prepared to start your hike from a remote parking lot.

This was a dream hike for me. I had been wanting to make this trip for a while but thankful I waited until I was in better shape. This trail winds past Alberta Falls ( stunning) and up to Loch Lake. In the distance you can see Timberline Falls where you will need to traverse the falls. This girl does not do heights very well but with a push from my dear friends and hiking partners and the kindness of a stranger lending me hand a up I was able to see Glass Lake and my goal of Sky Pond. This was truly a beautiful hike. It took us 8 hours to complete this trek round trip, we spent time at each lake taking in the beauty, because why would you not? We are in the 40ish category and in decent physical shape. I would put this closer to 10 miles and a decent elevation gain.

Lots of rocks but beautiful views

I have been wanting to do this hike since I moved in November 17 and finally made it out that way today!!! Pictures do not do this place justice. Not only the lake but small spaces the entire way up as well as spouting rock! The blue jays were on point as well as some chipmunks which were cute but sadly way to use to being fed

My boyfriend and I loved this trail! Make sure you bring a pen or something to write with so you can fill out the parking form and pay your 5$ with exact change! It was definitely very rocky but it wasn’t terribly hard and the views were totally worth it. Will definitely be hiking this trail again!

Great view and well maintained trails. But there were groups of rude mountain bikers, which is unusual. Most mountain bikers in other trails have been so nice and courteous. Trail is narrow, and they rode without slowing down. one after another. We had to climb up side of the narrow trail so that they would not hit us.
It was a beautiful sunny yet cool day. I noticed my dog was seeking for shady areas constantly. And I got the worst sun poisoning when we got home. Do not forget bringing a lot of water!

one of the most beautiful and fulfilling hikes i’ve ever done - every step was truly so worth it. definitely get started early to avoid the crowds. it was nice to have the lakes to ourselves for a little while before a lot of people started showing up. if you want a great “rocky mountain experience” this is definitely the hike for you. couldn’t recommend highly enough.

Absolutely stunning. Even though wild flowers had already peaked, this trail is breathtaking.

Steady traffic with pretty view. Would be nice to pack lunch and rest by the water. Lots of families and pups.

Good, fairly easy hike. Bring plenty of water. Weather changes quickly. Very pretty views of the valley.

Was warned about the crowds, so we left the Bear Lake parking lot at 6:45 AM. Hike was peaceful and spectacular. We stopped 3-4 times to catch our breath. We hiked at a modest pace and finished in two hours.

Beautiful hike... Well-marked and easy to follow. It will fall between easy to moderately-difficult depending on the person. The last bit of the trail leading up to Emerald Lake is the most challenging portion: a steep incline with LOTS of stairs. Dream Lake and Emerald Lake are breathtaking and well worth it, though. I gave it four stars because of how heavily trafficked it was. If you are looking for a peaceful wilderness experience... this may not be the choice for you. Lots of people, loud voices, and cell phones at every turn.

We got to the parking lot by 8am on a Saturday and it was not even half full. Not very crowded on the way up and plenty of space for people to enjoy the views and get pictures. The altitude is what made this more challenging for me. The wind was pretty strong (not sure if that's typical) but I wish I would've had something to shield my ears against the wind. Coming down there were a lot more people and people were waiting for spots at 9:30. Make sure to bring exact change.
We saw a guy camping and he had a fire burning on a no burn day (which we told him). Don't be that guy!

It’s so nice to get that close to a glacier
