Loved it!!! It’s a lot of incline, lose rocks! I would recommend you take a hiking stick!

starting from salado trailhead a pretty walk along fresnal canyon with views of the different strata. 1 1/4 mi to the waterfall... slippery when wet. fun run to the base of the falls barefoot if u have tough feet! awesome

This was a great hike! I took my 10 year old along and he had no problem keeping up. When we got to the caves El Paso PD was there conducting extraction training. They took the time to explain what they were doing which my son loved. Shout out to our men and women in blue!

Nice steady climb up following switchbacks. Somewhat rocky making for loose footing at times. Views and several lookout areas on way up. At top, a neat natural rocky arch. Had lunch with quite aggressive chipmunks. No fear. Hikers in front of us encountered a deer. At bottom visit stream across from parking area to cool off.

Great workout hike with steady uphill throughout. Saw this trail mentioned as a great kids hike in a local magazine but after hiking it, I would hesitate to bring children here. It is challenging enough you might end up carrying them but more because of the steep drop offs and narrow trails throughout. Keep a close eye on kids if you do bring them. Amazing views at the top.

Beautiful trail! It is sad that much of the bridges and trail were washed away by flooding, but we were able to climb over some boulders to get down to the water and cross over the creek. We had so.much fun exploring parts of the washed out trail. It is a gorgeous canyon . After our hike we enjoyed lunch in the shady picnic area by the creek. The bridges and some of the rocky areas could be hard on a dog’s feet. Also the hot asphalt parts of the trail that were in the sun got pretty hot and we had to carry our dogs. It is truly a beautiful place. I hope they are able to rebuild the whole trail.

Awesome trail! Great one to do early in the AM and to take visiting friends and family. I'd go on it again.

Great views the whole way up and down, trail is very well kept. Definitely a climb but the view is worth it

Beautiful place to relax and read a book.

@Daysi It's possible to push a stroller but there are a lot of stairs around the garden so I would recommend baby wearing

Nice views from the top and a good workout, though overall I was a little less impressed with the trail as a whole. While th views up top are nice, I do feel that I've been on better trails in the area.

So I’ve never actually been here . But for the people who have is it easy to take a stroller or no ?

What a great hike. You have a view form every angle on the way up to the top!! It’s well worth the climb. Even if it is 90 degrees!

Steady climbing to a wonderful overlook. Explore all the other vantages.

Good trail. A steady steep climb for most of it so it's definitely a workout on the legs. It's also very narrow and sometimes difficult to move over when passing others. Nice views at the top. Get there early so you can have a few minutes to yourself at the top.

Great hike . Lots of rocks to slip on so be careful! Near the top is a little steep but the peace at the top of the caves is worth it !

Loved that we made it. My wife and I are from NH and both in our late 60’s so the altitude gain really got to us. Loved the views going up and especially at the top.
BEAUTIFUL!
Highly recommended!!!

There are many trail forks, so it’s easy to get turned around. I cannot imagine doing this hike just with the map provided at the beginning of the trail. Using AllTrails, we somehow still got lost when coming back around. Every trail at a 3 trail fork took us away from the trail line. Ended up coming out where the Cheyenne trail head began and walked up steep Market Street back to the beginning. Be careful. And this would be a hike rough on a dog’s paws.

It was moderate for 3/4 of the trail but the end near the caves is extremely steep. I could not make it to the top. My anxiety and vertigo became severe and after several panic attacks I sat on a boulder while my husband explored the caves. With the hazardous rock laden trail and its steepness, and my panic induced stops, it took a total of three hours.

This trail is moderate for experienced hikers and thrill seekers.

Steady incline. Precarious at times. Lots of bugs. AMAZING views from the top. Loved this hike! Will def do again.

We went in late April on a whim and enjoyed near perfect temperatures, as well as free admission. As others have noted, they don't allow food or gum, only water. They recommend carrying extra water and stuff, but it's a very short, easy hike with only one small section of elevation gain. The trail is well marked and the archeological site is pretty well preserved. The volunteers do a nice job of giving interpretations along the trail, and if you ask, they'll tell you some good stories about the burn scar as well. Definitely worth a small detour, though a quick stop at the visitor center doesn't hurt either. Be aware of the limited hours of opening as well.

Great hike. A lot of switchbacks. Beautiful views at the top. We went later in the day and the parking had a few open spots. Took about 1h 50m up and 1h 30m down.

Awesome Hike !

Beautiful views! Go early due to heavy traffic, small parking area, and narrow trails. We got there at 8am and it took 3.5 hours round trip. Only saw one other hiker going up but saw many coming up as we were going down. Keep going to the top! Its worth it.

Very long and demanding, but the waterfall is very rewarding.

Good hike but the rocky trail surface is annoying and provides for a precarious trip down!

Great quick hike! It's a bit challenging towards the top but the caves up there provide a cool respite :)

Always packed with way too many hikers.Pretty views and the hole in the rock at the top is a very popular photo opt. Steeper hike but definitely doable for most levels.

As you make your way up to the castle there is moderate incline the entire way with expanding views. go on a clear as to not get caught in the storm.

Gorgeous tea garden and the koi fish ponds were so pretty. This is a perfect afternoon walk if you are looking for a relaxing and short activity.

We had an amazing time hiking this trail and were pleasantly surprised that there was indeed a waterfall at the end. Started at the Salado Canyon Trailhead for a shorter 2.5 mile round trip out and back hike. Go right and follow signs to Bridal Veil Falls. The trail is lightly trafficked we only ran into a few other groups and I would rate as easy not moderate. Most of the trail is spent hiking up above the creek bed which lies below in the valley. There isn’t too much elevation change. Brought the dogs with us they loved being able to play in the water under the falls. One of the best hikes we’ve had in the Alamogordo area.
