Love this trail!

What a lovely area. Saw lots of different birds and some bunnies. The ducks laughed a lot and the cicadas were buzzing loudly in some parts. Easy hike more of a walk but nice either way.

Nice nature walk if you have young children.

The first thing to figure out with this trail is if you want a big up or big down. If you go clockwise you will get the big up first. If you go counterclockwise you get the big down last thing before you get back to your car.

The rest of this trail is really gradual and most of it is very easy going. I was even thinking this could be one of the better trails for trail running out there.

The flora and fauna for much of the route is in within riparian areas and is incredibly diverse. More than all that, this trail is absolutely beautiful from start to finish. This would be perfect for someone who has been building up endurance for a longer hike, but doesn't need 2000'+ elevation gains.

I wouldn't call this a hike, more of a nature walk. Really nice for families with young kids or small/old dogs that can't do anything too strenuous, or if you want something quick after work without having to drive out of town. This does get super crowded on the weekends, so keep that in mind.

There are nice views along the trail and at the end, where you'll find the petroglyphs. The petroglyphs aren't subtle, either, so you'll have no problem finding them. :)
I wouldn't recommend hiking this trail if you don't have proper hiking or trail shoes. You do need the grip here and there.
There is a nice sized parking lot, too, so unless you're hiking this in peak season on a weekend, you'll find a spot.
If you go during monsoon season, be mindful of a flash flood risk. At the end, where you'll find the petroglyphs are pools and a waterfall. Don't get caught in there if it's raining. The rocks would be too slippery to confidently be safe.

I’m not from the area but I was happy to find this trail here in the app and that it was so close to where I was staying. For convenience, trail maintenance, great marking, and sheer beauty I ranked this one high- even though I had a spill and smashed my phone (I suggest pocketing the thing.)
I ran it counterclockwise and found the first 2.5-3 to be perfect (even in the dark, as I started at 4:30am). There is one steep incline that I had to walk and coming down the other side was a fun challenge I didn’t dare to take at full speed. On the far southwest side of the trail you head through an awesome valley full of saguaros and other plant life- much greener than I expected for August. That piece was the highlight for me, even over the amazing desert sunrise and view of town from the lookouts at dawn.
The parking lot fills up quick. The trails technically don’t open til 6am but when I arrived before 4:30, the gate was open there were already two cars there and when I left just after 6 the lot was full and people where walking in from up to 1/4 mile out. Also, I didn’t notice any water at the trailhead and certainly none on the trail, although there are some nice benches to relax on. Carry or plant water.
Watch your footing, especially on the steep sections- very rocky. Easy to trip or slip- I would have fallen more than the one time if I had worn my street running shoes.
Plan to take your time through the valley! Probably the easiest part of the trail but it’s the most beautiful too, I did a loop and a half of this trail so I could hangout in the valley part twice.

We went early morning in July, I mean 6 a.m.. the beginning of the tail is in direct sun light. once you get to larger rocks, it's more shaded as the sun hasn't come over the ridge yet. BEAUTIFUL. lovely views. we only went half way (per the trail on the map here)

Nice trail, some rocky parts. Beautiful views.

Good hike with kids. As with all AZ hikes, bring water! There were bees at the summit when I was there so watch out. The "caves" aren't really caves. But its fun anyway.

Great family hike. Interesting petroglyphs.

Did this hike with my son who isn't as enthusiastic about hiking in 110 heat as I am. We chose this hike for the moderate elevation gain and distance. The views are ok and the trail is well marked. The highlight are the hieroglyphics at the end. As many of the other reviewers have said, the bees in the pool below make hanging out by the hieroglyphs problematic.

Fun trail! Not a moderate hike in my opinion, more on that easier side. There is a gate entry fee of $7.

nice, go after a rain, hundreds of petroglyphs

This is an awesome little walk! My dog and I loved the wildlife and scenery ❤️ they had some stuff to read that was interesting and would be great to bring kids.

Did this clockwise. Ran the first .5 mile, and was forced to walk the next mile due to the technical trail and my shoe choice. The final 3 miles or so was easy to run. Beautiful sunrise over the eastern peaks. Decent views. Great for a pre-work run

A nice out and back. Good variety of desert plant life at the beginning of the hike and the petroglyphs at the end are pretty cool. However at the petroglyphs at the top where the "waterfall" would be was just a wet pit infested with bees and wasps that made enjoying the glyphs difficult. It was 94 and I used about 1.5L of water and took about an hour and a half.

If you like rock scrambling, continue on past the wind cave! Very fun but definitely some climbing

After it rains, the waterfall is worth seeing.

Hiked to the cave on April 30 2018 beautiful morning nice trail

No shade along trail. awesome petroglyphs at the end and a little cave to explore. bring lots of water to drink due to lack of shade.

The wind cave itself was an interesting feature but if you want to make the most of this hike then go past the cave and up to the summit. It does not take much longer and the views were amazing!! I don’t know why other people don’t do this.

Nice hike, but kind of sucks for trail running. Too much loose rock and steep inclines. Disappointed

There is nothing moderate about this hike. Lots of people all the time. It seems people stay here overnight. If you want to enjoy this hike, go there at night in the Summer. Otherwise early morning. If you do not stop to rest or drink water this is a great workout.

Easy up and back. Sadly, not worth the $7 entry fee. We were super excited about this hike, but were slightly disappointed once we reached the “cave”. Left much to be desired ...

Great Hike this morning, no bees just a bunch of dog poop along the way. I would recommend going early in the morning! Shade from the mountain helps :)

Great hike. Was a little unclear where the trail was in places/where the trail actually ended...? But besides that was great trail with awesome views! Would recommend for people of all skill levels (the end is a bit tough for all levels but could just stop before the end).
