To Hike 2016/2017 Map

Great trail, the kids loved it!! Mostly in shaded area, beautiful scenery and versatile.
If walking with small children MUST behave carefully around cliff view.

Great hiking spot. Diverse landscapes, beautiful views. Bugs were not bad at all. Would definitely explore this area again.

Sept 15 - very warm day for hiking but the cedar and delicious tree canopy made for a very comfortable hike. Amazing crevices!

Beautiful trail. Found a cute little stream off trail to sit by and have a bite to eat. Would hike again!

Great trail. Suggest going right from the trailhead to begin the loop. This makes it easier to manoeuvre the cave section at the end. (Easier climbing up the cave section than down)

Enjoyable trail with the highlight of hiking through the caves.
A few rocky climbs which could be slippery if wet.
Some deep holes to watch out for if hiking with small kids. Ours loved it.

A hidden gem. I asked a couple on the main trail if I was near the entrance to the side loop and they had never heard of it. It was the most challenging hike I had taken my 5 yo grandson on and he loved it (even though he thought the cave was not big enough.).

Nice trail. Lots of squirrels. LOL. Would walk it again.

Extraordinaire. Walking in these walls was exceptional. My favorite in this area.

Overall great beginner trails

This is a great trail, fairly easy for many ages and full of fun things to explore.

A great summer day for a hike. This is a moderate trail with numerous elevation changes. Bring bug spray. This is some of the nicest scenery in this section of the Bruce Trail.

This is primarily an easy to moderate trail. We were there in on long weekend and hardly saw any other hikers which was nice. It is quite beautiful with changing scenery from Deepwoods to rocks to open fields. I would recommend it if you have a wide variety of levels in your group.

Beautiful quite trail, but easy to get lost, no helpful signs.

The map portrayed here is not accurate and the signage on the actual trail is some of the worst I've ever seen.

We climbed the path going straight up the hill until it ended and we were forced to go right or left. At this point there is no clear signage. We went right which meant that we did a loop with no views of the water. After returning from the hike, I found a map which showed that left would have meant we took another short straight trail (that would have required us to double back) presumably to the lookout over the water. There is a more accurate map of the "loop" on one of the Georgian Bay tourism sites.

The path until we started the loop was nice and wide. Very pleasant to walk on and completely shady in the forest. It could accommodate a jogging stroller.

However when we made the right turn the path started to get super narrow and wind through fields. Everything was still fairly okay until we reached the part of the trail where there was a large sign warning of poison ivy and there was literally poison ivy everywhere. Not one or two plants - but hundreds for a quite a length. The path turned rocky and winding. Definitely not good for a jogging stroller or small children.

I found it unpleasant even for an adult person as the path in the loop was very narrow (i.e. hitting the branches/leaves of maple trees on either side of you) in several places which just made it uncomfortable. And again signage was none existant - one map in the loop but it didn't even tell you where you were on the trail (and it showed several). The bugs weren't bad and there was cell phone reception, but the forest wasn't all that nice to look at . There are better trails.

❤️❤️❤️ one of my favourite places for a hike

great trail. the cave is so cool.

Part of the trail is quite easy, but along the escarpment it is quite difficult, I would not call it kid friendly. Overall it was great for my dog and I, took longer than expected!

A lovely forested walk ending in an open field. A bit muddy in spots but overall excellent.

Very lightly trafficked with tones of to explore.

Did the loop with 3 kids and a puppy. Didn’t realize the end of the loop was climbing in, through and up the caves. Challenging for sure, especially with the current icy conditions. Will definitely do this one again and again. Lots of opportunity to explore our beautiful area. Bring your bug spray also!

We had a blast today! The caves were definitely the highlight. Some tricky spots because of the ice but it just added to the adventure. Would recommend. There could be better signage and maps, we weren’t always clear of what path to take.

We went in May- WAY to muddy! That said- it has great potential in mid summer or fall hiking! As a family we will return!

Amazing views, watch the ice in the caves this time of year. Absolutely worth it !

For someone new to hiking this trail route was a challenge but enjoyable. At my beginner pace it took 3:15hr including a lunch at the top and going off route about 1km to go through the caves etc. I got a bit turned around at the escarpment because the many other forks and paths aren’t in the map so pay close attention to your gps for guidance in this area. Beautiful views and a great afternoon !

Great trail. Completed entire loop with my two children. Will be making this one of our regular hikes.

Did it in March covered in ice. Challenging hike at that time of year but made it through. A load of fun and certainly no crowds!

Great very lightly trafficked trail. Nice mix of flat, hills and rock areas to climb, also has multiple water crossings (great for the dogs). As others have said I highly recommend doing the hike counterclockwise, otherwise you will be hiking up quite a few inclines. Overall great day out, would do it again.

Scenic. Nice. Quiet for a lot of it. Peaceful. Fairly simple hike. I’m looking forward to summer hike here. Definitely recommend.

Loved this trail. Got a little lost at some points but still enjoyed it. Caves are a bit strenuous but worth it! Absolutely beautiful
