great trail after a big rain, don’t skip the grotto it’s an extra .25 off the main trail

some big slick rocks but all in all a pretty easy trail if you take your time, I stopped several times and still finished right under 4 hours and I’m pretty slow

We loved this hike! So many beautiful rocks! There’s also a lot of areas where there is running water. Some water cascading over rocks. We took our puppy for her first hike here. It was the perfect first hike. She learned how to climb over rocks and get into the water! It was the perfect length. The only thing I didn’t love was that we parked in the wrong area (there’s two areas that get to the trail so much easier!). So if you use apple maps, just go a little further than it tells you to and park at the Pioneer cabin!

This is a very easy hike with a real nice stream. Very easy. One of my favorite short hikes

Just a really nice rewarding hike. All around good

This was by far the best hike I have ever completed. We don’t have much hiking near my home (Memphis, TN) so this was an incredible find for me and my friend. The hike back up the switchbacks was tough, but we were expecting it. I would highly recommend pushing yourself further to make it around to the backside of the waterfall. I can’t wait to do this hike again next year!

This trail was amazing! It was a little scary starting out because it’s downhill on rocks and they were slick. I’m also afraid of heights a bit ! Climbing those same rocks on the way back was taxing. It was a humid day and around 80 degrees but thankfully cloudy. The hike is absolutely worth it..the falls were flowing on our hike. You can check the falls at the overlook if you would rather not be disappointed with the falls. I’ve read depending on rain it can be just a trickle. This hike is only 2 miles but harder than 4.5. Mile seven hollows which is also a cool hike. Our dogs loved both and handled both great!

We are in our mid 60s and after a day of rain this was a little challenging . Made it half way down the rocky inclines and decided to turn around . It was beautiful . Our children who had a 2 year old and a 8 wks old easily treaked them down the slippery slopes . Later we found their was a lookout point over the waterfalls down the road a bit . I think it would have been more maneuverable when not wet .It was a beautiful . Lots of dogs on leashes .

We only did the short trail to rock house cave. Easy hike from the trailhead. Very cool cave like area.

Very cool trail. Nice mix of flat land, rocky areas, a waterfall, and a little opportunity for climbing thrown in. Crosses several beautiful streams. Maybe moderate due to the distance but not a hard hike at all. The grotto is cool and the natural bridge is beautiful. With the hike to the grotto we clocked 5 miles in 2.5 hours. Our dogs loved it and so did we. Might be tough for kids due to the distance. Lots of beautiful scenery!

Went after a couple of days of rain, the rocks were slippery and there was water covering a good portion of the trail.

easy hike

Loved this trail! Plenty of great scenery, well maintained and marked trails. Great trail to just relax and take your time on!

Great hike and probably pretty challenging for beginners. The falls are worth it though!

Love it , bring water shoes and hiking shoes!!!

An excellent hiking trail with something interesting to see almost the entire way. I took the Grotto leg of the trail first which meant climbing out the Natural Bridge leg at the end. I think it would have been easier doing the reverse. Overall, a very enjoyable trail that can be very taxing depending on what shape you are in. Take plenty of water and snacks.

It took me a little to realizes that to get to the canyon trail I had to start on the cedar falls trail. I wish at the beginning of the cedar falls trail they would have also mentioned the canyon trail. The trail was peaceful to me because it ran along the cedar creek the whole time and I could hear the water. I only saw two other people the whole time when I did this trail.

It is really neat to see Native American pictographs that are on the Cave ceiling. Most of the time we see history in museums. It is nice to see some history in nature too.

I have done this trail several times. It is really easy going down, but a little strenuous on the way back up.

LEGENDARY hike! Running trails, waterfalls, bridges, rock climbing, exploring... Its got it all!

The rock climbing and exploring is top notch!

Great hike! Beautiful, following stream and end at waterfall. I would say it's between easy and moderate for a seasoned hiker. Lots of rocks so watch your footing. Total round trip time was 1 hour.

I absolutely loved this trail. I completed it after climbing the summit trail at Nebo, so I was exhausted by the end. I recommend making this a one trail day trip...so many beautiful streams and cliffs. Also, make sure you empty your bladder before you go because you hear running water almost the entire time.

Gorgeous trail, a little more taxing than what I expected. Should have brought a little more than one small bottle of water. Trails are clearly marked, and The Grotto/waterfall was gorgeous, and the waterfall was so cold and refreshing. There was no cell service the entire time, so just something to keep in mind. The round trip loop with a stop/splash at the Grotto took about 2 1/2 hours.

amazing few. deffiniately not an easy trail. take your time, bring lots of water, and maybe an extra bottle for someone already ng the way

Beautiful scenery, good workout with some elevation changes. Very rocky, be sure to wear shoes with good tread, especially if it has recently rained. My favorite trail at Petit Jean so far. Went on a Friday afternoon in August (very humid, obviously, but not too crazy hot as it is very shaded), didn’t see any other people at all.

Very fun and warm afternoon. The hike is mostly shaded with a very well maintained and well marked trail. The trail is moderate but may be hard for anyone with knee issues as a lot of the trail consists of rock making a staircase.
The trail starts at Mather Lodge, we parked in the parking lot, used the nice bathrooms in the lodge and then started the hike. We did take an offshoot trail marked bear caves which extended the hike a bit. It took us one hour to get to the falls and back. There are nice rocks by the falls to have a picnic or rest for awhile.
We didn’t see any snakes but when we got back to the trailhead a woman spotted a snake and screamed, we were happy to be done with the trail at that point.
