Nice hike. I’d rate it as Easy+ though. There are a few areas that have big rocks which make it easier to twist an ankle. Some ups and downs but pretty level generally. Highlight is the big overlook at the big bend in the route (north-most point). Looks like it can get pretty busy there but there are some very nice views. Also, very dog friendly. Ours had a great time scrambling around.

0.6 miles in great view of Shenandoah Valley. Dripping rocks in the second 0.6iles were barely damp, but the valley view was worth it.

Little more than “easy” at times due to slippery rocks. Loved the overlook section where you got a great view of the Shenandoah Valley.

It could be a beautiful spot, but we were disappointed in the amount of trash along the trail and at the falls area. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed with college age kids. We didn’t swim, but it looked like it would be a fun spot. Lots of people jumping off the rocks into the pool below.

Came here on a Tuesday evening in July around 4pm. The GPS directions actually send you about a mile past the trail. The trailhead is on the left about 4 miles down a dirt road. This trail is an easy hike to the waterfall, but covered in trash. Very muddy in a few places. Clearly a hangout for teenagers and young adults to drink, smoke, and party. Very crowded. Easy hike, and decent view, but the trash and overcrowding really take away from the experience

Great trail! If you do this in out route you won't see any water. Awesome view near the end of the turn around of this in-out. Slightly overgrown in areas but the trail is really nice.

This turned out to be a just right outing for our trio (two out of shape parents and a bored teen son.) We only went about a half mile and came out to a really lovely view of the valley. We turned back then but perhaps next time we’ll go further. We saw a few other groups but mostly we had the trail to ourselves.

Once you make it to the falls it's pretty! Arrived around 12:30 and left a few hours after. There were about 50+ people. I would say that's a downside. The walk to the falls is about 5/10 minutes. It's super easy to miss the trail- it begins where the nature sign is. Panther falls road is gravel and narrow.

FYI..so many of the pictures posted here are actually Crabtree falls. Panther falls is an easy but somewhat muddy trail. It was SUPER packed today which made sense because it was hot and many people were swimming. But don’t go there if you are hoping to social distance. That being said, we were there at 2pm so it may have been extra crowded secondary to the time.

This trail is definitely short and very easy. That being said, this trail is heavily trafficked. Also that being said, this trail is heavily trafficked by high school and college age people. The positives about this trail is that it is short, it is easy, and it has a nice swimming opportunity. The negatives about this trail is that it is one of the most trash filled hikes I have ever been on. This trail offered some places to camp making it a prime location to leave trash.

All in all a fun trail. I went the counterclockwise route. Front half a great view and swimming hole. Arduous and boring on the back half.

We wanted a close (to Wintergreen), relatively easy, peaceful walk in the woods and we wanted to do it on July 4th. Dripping Rock South was just what we were looking for. Near the beginning and at about 1.3 mile mark are wonderful outlooks of the George Washington & Jefferson National Forest. We ran into maybe 4 other groups over our 2 hour stroll. We also had a wildlife encounter with a rattlesnake. So you do need to stay alert.

Made the rookie mistake of hiking one of my favorite trails on a holiday. Never have I encountered more unfriendly, inconsiderate people on a trail than I did this morning. I love saying “good morning” to people and hearing crickets...and it’s always a blast, on the back-end ascent up Wildcat, to move aside for groups of folks moseying downhill. Shout out to all who weren’t a-holes. Yay ‘Merica All joking aside, this hike has it all...just pick another day, my friends. (Counterclockwise from Horsehead Overlook)

Great views at chimney rock. Worth the climb up. Pretty Rocky and steep at certain points. Lots of water access after the first few miles and some nice places to stop for snacks/lunch on rocks in the middle of streams. Great campsite after climbing the creek bed and before Wildcat goes steeply uphill. Before the stream crossing look for the rock cairn on the left of the trail and walk through the woods ~100ft. Pretty rocky, but there's a small clearing perfect for a tent and I dug up most of the rocks that were still there. After that it's a very steep two miles uphill to the AT and then gradual rolling hills back to Riprap parking. No water on the last leg.
