This was a dream hike for me. I had been wanting to make this trip for a while but thankful I waited until I was in better shape. This trail winds past Alberta Falls ( stunning) and up to Loch Lake. In the distance you can see Timberline Falls where you will need to traverse the falls. This girl does not do heights very well but with a push from my dear friends and hiking partners and the kindness of a stranger lending me hand a up I was able to see Glass Lake and my goal of Sky Pond. This was truly a beautiful hike. It took us 8 hours to complete this trek round trip, we spent time at each lake taking in the beauty, because why would you not? We are in the 40ish category and in decent physical shape. I would put this closer to 10 miles and a decent elevation gain.

Trail was somewhat difficult to follow - not many signs to let you know if you were on the right track after trail forks. Lots of shade. Last portion was fairly steep but the views were worth it. Be careful as most hikers we encountered did not leash their dogs on this trail.

Enjoyable hike! Little rocky and challenging at parts, but nothing too crazy. Dog friendly so expect to see a few 4-legged friends out there. Cool views!

Soooooo, we didn’t make it to the trail because there was no mention of how horrible the road to the trailhead was. Wouldn’t recommend driving a small car, sedan or sports car because the road is full of potholes, rocks, uneven bumps and did I mention huge rocks sticking out of the road. So will review again when we returned with a proper vehicle.

Very pretty trail. A bit crowded, but not as crowded as I was expecting. I'd call this trail moderate rather than hard, and I'm of average shape. There were parts that were tough, but it's really short so that's why I'd say it's closer to the moderate side. I got to the parking lot by 8 am and it was full. However, there was plenty of parking along the street. It cost 2.50 per hour.

It was so fun! We went too late and didn’t make it to the waterfall, we didn’t want to get stuck in the dark! We will be going back but earlier next time.

Great Views. Only complaint was that it was very rocky so it was challenging for the dogs at times.

A beautiful hike up, made it to the summit just before the weather came in. A wet hike down to the road but no problem.

I wouldn’t rate this trail as super difficult, but it could be challenging for a beginner hiker. Sweet views of Golden once you’re past the highway noise. Also, watch out for bikers as they fly down the trail!

one of the most beautiful and fulfilling hikes i’ve ever done - every step was truly so worth it. definitely get started early to avoid the crowds. it was nice to have the lakes to ourselves for a little while before a lot of people started showing up. if you want a great “rocky mountain experience” this is definitely the hike for you. couldn’t recommend highly enough.

To help out some fellow inexperienced hikers such as myself: this trail is SO beautiful and it's one of my favorites so far! But you need to be prepared. It can be REALLY cold and rainy in here, so bring raincoats and potentially gloves and hats if you are one to get cold easily! The temperature in here can be a lot different than Denver. Experienced people probably already knew that but I sure didn't! Enjoy

I thought this was an alright hike. I’ve been earlier in the summer (June) and it was a beautiful walk in though we didn’t make it to the lake due to snow. Beautiful snow capped mountains and roaring waterfalls. Went again mid August and wasn’t nearly as beautiful walk in and the lake was nice but I’ve seen much more beautiful ones in Colorado. Probably best times are June and July and then fall which I assume will start in September/October.

Amazing trail with plenty of water view and river trail!

Good, fairly easy hike. Bring plenty of water. Weather changes quickly. Very pretty views of the valley.

Even though the flow of the falls was a bit low, it was still beautiful and the overall view of Colorado Springs and surrounding mountains was absolutely breathtaking at the end of trail. I agree with some of the other posts that the trail is not well marked, however. We had to back track to the last stretch when we missed the ascent to the left that was only marked off by a large branch and some rocks. Hikers from out of town may just see that as a fun natural obstacle, as I did. Even with that though, this was still our favorite hike; more awe inspiring than Seven Bridges Trail.

Was warned about the crowds, so we left the Bear Lake parking lot at 6:45 AM. Hike was peaceful and spectacular. We stopped 3-4 times to catch our breath. We hiked at a modest pace and finished in two hours.

Beautiful hike... Well-marked and easy to follow. It will fall between easy to moderately-difficult depending on the person. The last bit of the trail leading up to Emerald Lake is the most challenging portion: a steep incline with LOTS of stairs. Dream Lake and Emerald Lake are breathtaking and well worth it, though. I gave it four stars because of how heavily trafficked it was. If you are looking for a peaceful wilderness experience... this may not be the choice for you. Lots of people, loud voices, and cell phones at every turn.

Rocky but moderate hike. Summer 2018 Crater Lake is more like a pond but we burned the calories so we could eat more great food in Aspen.

My tracker placed the hike at 6.7 miles. It's pretty and offers nice mountain views along the way. But way too many people fail to clean up after their dogs. Be careful as you walk this trail.

Love this hike! The flowers are always amazing even after peak season. It’s a steep climb at times but the beauty is worth it. It’s easy to get to from Denver but can be crowded on the weekends. That is the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars.

So beautiful

This was the perfect hike for my wife and I’s first time being in Rocky Mountain National Park! Get there between 6:00 and 6:30am. We arrived around 6:45 and there were no more spots to park. However, we found a small parking lot for about 10 cars a 1/2 mile before the trail head so we just walked up to the trial head. Scaling the waterfall is not as hard as some people say it is if you are in good shape. It’s fairly easy, but I see how it could be difficult for those who aren’t in great shape. The view from the top was breathtaking. All Trails says it is 8.1 but it around 9.8 according to the map at the start of the trail. Also, if you are worried about being the only one on the trail with all the wildlife in RMNP then this is the perfect trail for you! I think there were in sight of my wife and I almost the entire hike. It took us about 2.5 hours to go up and 1.5 hours to come down. We highly recommend this hike!

Beautiful scenery at every turn, and very, very crowded. I would rate this hike as Easy-Moderate. Half the trail is literally paved and the second half is well maintained stair steps. Our 5 year old tackled this with no problems.

This didn't feel like a hike, more like a walk in the park. It would be a great place to bring out of town guests who are not acclimated to the altitude, little kids or people with mobility issues. Somewhat reminiscent of Garden of the Gods without the crowds. There are several other trails accessible from this location that offer a little more challenge. The visitor center was very nice.

nice quick hike up to the lake, not too challenging. awesome views at the top with a second lake if you continue which we didn't have time to do. the road up to the trailhead is very rocky so be careful driving. highly recommend.

Beautiful hike! I’d say moderate. “Hardest” part was climbing the waterfall. Get there early!
