What a great hike for a beginner backpacker. It’s just enough to challenge you. Just got back today on August 12th.

beautiful hike all the way through and the prize at the end the waterfall perfect.

I love this hike. So beautiful and a great escape from the heat. Amazing views and the best reward; silver lake.

Hey everyone! First off, this was a beautiful hike! We backpacked in, and it was a great overnight trip. It wasn’t too steep, and the dogs loved it as well.

The parking lot fills up quick! If you don’t get there at 5:00 A.M, you could be looking at an extra mile from where you have to park. (Unless you are a rebel and have no problem getting a ticket for parking where it clearly says you cannot.

There were no signs leaving from Washington Lake. If it wasn’t for the All Trails app, I would have been really confused on where to go. So make sure to open up that little map All Trails has to offer.

iPhone users beware, if you hit the directions option from your all trails app, it WILL lead you to a different parking lot! Open up the actual map all trails provides, click on the little arrow to the bottom left, and actually follow your phones directions to the correct parking to get to the trailhead. And as I said before, there were no signs, it actually says there are two different lakes that you’ll be hiking past.

Got an early start to this hike (around 7-8) and it was a little chilly. The first 1/3 of the hike is in a beautiful aspen forest. Couldn’t get enough of the foliage! The hike then opens up and you’re able to see some beautiful views of the back of timpanogos. After a short steep section to the top, we were rewarded with a view of the amazing lake. It was around 9 at that point but the lake was warm enough that I took a quick swim. Beautiful clear lake! As we descended it got really crowded so I suggest if you want to have this lake to yourself come early.
All in all one of my favorite hikes out there.

Wonderful trail! The lake is crystal-clear. If you want to avoid crowds, go early in the morning.

I agree with Chris, this is more of a moderate trail. By the end my friend and I were very sore. The pain was well worth seeing the falls. Take lots of water!

great hike with great views!! made for a nice escape from the smokey valley too. there is one spot that was a bit sketchy, but our dog did it no problem. you basically climb up some trees roots hanging over the trail. the falls were so cold, so I don't recommend standing under them. ;) and the flowers were beautiful too!!! I'd definitely do this one again.

We looked all over Utah valley area trying to find a good hike for our small family reunion—something young kids, grandparents and pregnant women could do but also something that outdoor enthusiasts and avid hikers would enjoy. This hike was perfect. The drive is scenic and beautiful. The trail is lovely, albeit short, with meadows and (sometimes) flowers and spectacular views right off the path. The view right before the last ascent of the hike is lovely, and those who felt unable to climb the last bit felt satisfied to stay there. The views at the top are splendid though, and it’s not a long climb up the steep part. We enjoyed this trail so much we’ve been back twice since.

awesome

Great hike! Be sure to bring lots of water, and if you're going to bring your dog, pack them lots of water too if it's hot. About half way up the tree cover is very sparse and it can get hot in the summer.

fun destination hike with a great payoff. falls were amazing. most of the trail is fairly ez, but there are a couple of steep sections.
took the whole family, my 9 year old struggled just a bit.
took 2 hours.
GPS had it at 4.3 miles.

Great trail. It's well covered and stays pretty cool. The slightly steeper parts are well staggered, good exercise but not too difficult. Very beautiful location.

Amazing hike! This is definitely one of our favorite.

I did this trail on Mother’s Day 2018. It was my first hike of the season and first hike since I was a teenager.

It was nice. The trail was kind of worn out as you approached the saddle. Overall a nice hike that got me hooked!

Not a great hike but its short and has a decent view of the valley.

This is my favorite hike of the season. I’ve done Cecret Lake, Big Baldy, Silver Lake and Battle Creek Falls. I’d give it a 5* if it wasn’t for the amateurs hiking on the trail. If you see a trail runner, move over and let them pass. Falls were refreshing and great to cool off under before I headed back down.

Great easy hike with incredible views. Our 3yo hiked the whole way no problem.

I stopped doing keto and began using carbs again and the hike was way easier for me (I had a hard time on the horse flat which was rated as easy).
More for hiking rather than sightseeing/hiking.
Should actually take the "views" tag out of the details.
Mostly incline and very rocky.
If you roll your ankles a lot you should buy good hiking shoes/boots or watch where you step.
Going up took an hour and a half and around 45 minutes to get back down.

Beautiful hike! Everything was green and lush on the trail. Lots of people coming down from seeing the sunrise on Timp but the trail wasn't too crowded. When we got to the falls there was only one other small group there so we got some peace and quiet and cooled off next to the water. Our little dog loved it too! Good hike for families and people of all ages!

Previous posts have said it all. The trail is fairly easy. Hiked it in an hour. Overcrowded doesn’t begin to describe this lake. One group had 30 in their gang and another had 45. Add to that the small groups of 5-10 and there were at least 200 people this morning. Those were just the campers. Add to that the day hikers. Unfortunately, the large groups don’t have any outdoor or trail etiquette and leave you wishing you were somewhere else. One of the large groups was set up right at the cliffs, and wouldn’t make room for the rest to enjoy. Gotta do it at least once, but know what awaits you and don’t be disappointed. If it’s solitude and serenity you seek, turn left and go to Marjorie, Weir or Duck lake.

The parking lot is ridiculous. Too small. So many people that both sides of the road coming into the trailhead parking lot were lined with cars. Unfortunately, the road is marked “no parking.” The Forest Service wasn’t shy about leaving orange warning stickers on every single car. If you don’t want one of those, get there early and avoid the weekends.

Other than that, get out and go hiking! You’ll have a great story to tell.

This hike has beautiful lakes to hike past as you hike to Lofty Lake. At the summit you can see several Mountian ranges as well as other lakes around.

It's a fun trail to do at least once to get a great few of the valley. I powered through it so I was able to get through the whole hike in 3.5 hours. The very end felt like the hardest part because of it's continuous incline

We did this route counter clockwise. This route starts out all uphill for the first 1.5 miles. The trail is well defined in most places and there are a few cairns laid where the trail may get confusing. After reaching the ridge summit you come to Lofty Lake. Great place to take a rest and grab some water and snack. Most of the trail from here is downhill. We saw a few people camping here. Next you come to Cutthroat lake although the trail doesn’t take you down to it. There is a spur trail that can take you down. Our final lake was Kamas Lake. This is the largest of the lakes on this loop. The water was cold but not enough to keep us from taking a quick dip. Once you leave Kamas lake you scramble down some rocky trail and then wander through meadows until you reach the parking lot where you began. For us the weather was just right and we had a breeze to keep the bugs off us. We didn’t even use bug spray. Great quick loop. Would be challenging for kids but not impossible. We saw plenty of families with small children. I would rate this trail as moderate.

Hiked this last weekend and it was hot! After the first 1/4 mile, the trail is pretty exposed so try to hike early! The dirt road to get to the parking lot is pretty rough if you have a passenger car. The hike itself is fairly easy.. however, if you choose to hike up to silver glance lake from silver lake.. it climbs 800 feet in 3/4 of a mile so it does take it out of you! Otherwise very pretty and a lot of places to relax around the lake.

Wasn't sure where the loop went, so when I came out on the road I turned around and came back the way I came up. It was pretty, and there were lots of animals in the bushes. Met a coyote on the way up and down.

Beautiful hike that gets surprisingly hard towards the top. Just be prepared it gets steep the last .5 Miles. Just for that I think it may deserve a Hard rating. The rest is Moderate and pretty shaded overall.

We loved this trail! I went with my brother and 6 month baby in a carrier. We tried it once in the heat of the day and couldn’t make it with my daughter but tried again in the morning and it was perfect for all of us. Make sure you to take the right at the first fork. There is a part where you have to climb up some tree roots but it was not too bad. There were several elderly people who were hiking it just fine. In total it was about 2-2.5 hours round trip. (With lots of time enjoying the falls.)

Great hike. A little steep at places.

This trail is marked “easy” but it is not!! It is definitely “moderate” and if you are an inexperienced hiker, possibly even “difficult “. There are rocks and tree roots to navigate especially along the last section leading to the falls. And it is a challenge for small children. Most kids under 7 that I saw on the trail were not happy. One 3 year old was afraid of how high up we were along part of the trail and cried for a good part of it

Now all that being said, it is a beautiful hike!! Lots of shade, wildflowers (even in dry July), scenic views across the mountains and the waterfall did not disappoint!! Just be prepared with water and snacks, especially if you have kids with you.
