We went clockwise on this trail. Which was all uphill for about 30 minutes but then it steadied out. It showed a lot of pine trees and some different types of vegetation throughout the trail and followed a creek. Was hopeful to see wildlife, but only saw a couple deer. The trail was a decent one. Took about 2 hours.

Hiked this trail many times!! So many memories here!! Beautiful hike and just about anyone can do it!!

Well maintained trail with plenty to see. Two Butte formations and a little waterfall are the highlights of this trail.

Hiked this trail today and loved it. It has a little of everything. I went clockwise and enjoyed the ascent in the beginning. The view at the top was breathtaking. I didn’t expect to criss cross a creek several times after the descent. It was so fun! Great trail. I moved pretty quickly and completed it in an hour and a half.

First cool day of fall. Great hike after such a hot summer. The trail was a bit overgrown, a little tight in a spot or two, from summer growth, but no big problems. Camped at an overlook of Bayou Cypre...had a great sunrise.

it was a easy trail. enjoyed it very much.

good but lots of poison ivy in places. we went clockwise which is moderate up hill at first. the rock lookout was very scenic.

Did the clockwise so hardest first. then sun behind us as we came down. nice hike.

My daughter and I walked the trail today and had a great time. It was a little muddy and over grown in places but not a problem. With a bad knee, I wish that the stairs had hand rails. Most of the trail is paved. Some beautiful views and overlooks plus a small waterfall. As a bonus, there are an excellent picnic area and facilities at the trail head.

Love it

Have nothing but good things to say about White Oak Lake State Park and their hiking trails, rarely see any trash and the trails are clear if any obstacles, very family friendly

A group of us GOATS ran distances of 4-11 miles with a couple of them still running the last we saw them.

Great hike with some great views. It really puts the CSP Fire into perspective as you can’t see the effects much from the road. I recommend doing the trail clockwise.

Really nice hike through some different terrain. Took this trail counterclockwise and glad we did started with some and and downs and some even ground along a creek and yellowing aspens, very pretty. Outlook was about a mile from the end of our hike and was a great view. Climb the rocks and you will be rewarded with a lovely 360 view.

This trail was surprisingly diverse in scenery and quite a challenge. I hiked the whole trail with my friend to the Kisatchie Bayou Campground and hiked back out the next morning. The latter half of the trail is more hilly and rocky than the beginning. We hiked through pine flatlands, mixed hardwood forests, loess deposits and rocky creek beds. Seeing rocks and boulders in Louisiana is really neat. We saw two deer and two boars along the trail and no people. The trail is well blazed but overgrown with tall grass and in need of some maintenance. Beware of the loess deposits sticking to your boots! It’s like cement! This trail is a great hiking or backpacking option in Louisiana.

This may be the prettiest Texas trail I have ever walked. it runs alongside a beautiful creek for most of it. and the water is some of the cleanest I have seen in Texas. ive hiked in colorado so anything in texas is easy to me, but I may call this trail moderate for some. its a very fun and pretty hike. the sawmill ruin is also fascinating to see. too bad it has graffiti all over it. I plan on coming back and camping here!

Parts of the trail aren't all that interesting and I had to ask where to find the trailhead, but the view at the top was enjoyable.

fun little trail and the saw Mill is cool looking

The trail is nice and ground is soft. I hiked this trail yesterday 8-18-18. Take bug spray or take advantage of what they have by the entrance to the visitors center. Take a map ,which they provide and pay attention to the trail signs. Very easy trail.

Really great, varied hike BUT be prepared for POISON IVY. If you travel the loop clockwise you will start with a steep ascent and then for the rest of the trail you'll be level, with occasional ups and downs, and gradual descent. During the second part of the hike, you cross a stream several times and in these low lying areas, poison ivy is everywhere and the trail is not well maintained so the ivy encroaches on the trail. Wear pants or at least gators. Also - note that the blue diamond blazes as you approach the main road (clockwise) do not match the marked trail on All Trails layer. The trail on the map appears to go towards the road and then you travel on a path along the road. However the blue diamond blazes follow a path farther from the road and a bit uphill. Just be aware of the discrepancy.

awesome Trail

Great trail!

A mixture of everything including POISON IVY.. Trail really WELL MARKED. Continuing along the creek with crossovers. Fun to see the fresh Buffalo tracks and droppings on the trail and where I might see him. I very much enjoyed walking along and looking down at different fragments of stone catching the morning sun. I met a fewfolks out later in the am, including a older guy ( guessing 70 ) from Rapid City out for a run on the trail with his dog. I’ve never gotten poison ivy before and as I was wearing shorts and low cut socks I really was wondering if my time had finally come as it really was unavoidable. Happy to report I didnt. I would like to take my dogs next time! August 12, 2018

The best part of lovers leap trail was the views from the top. Wow!!!! If you want to shorten your hike, when you get to the split go left. When you get to the viewpoint turn and go back. By going right you will see a cool stream, perfect for dipping your toes. We saw a deer in this portion. There is a lot of poison ivy on the stream side of the trail. Wear long socks.

Hiked trail in about 3 hours. Wasn't marked well at all. Loved hearing the chimes and monkeys, I think that was the highlights of the trail. Clocked 9.06 miles.

Great trail. We took our family and had a great time exploring. Lots of stairs and rocks to climb! Paved most of the way.

Nice shade the entire trail. Clearly marked.

Nice trail with great views from the outcrop. Creek hopping was fun! Some grasses grow so against the side of the trail and have poison ivy - Watch out!

great hike - LOTS of poison ivy by the creek though...
