High traffic. Went there in a rainy day, super icy on the road and we can’t see the snowy mountain.

on BCMC Trail

I found it more challenging than the grouse grind even though it’s not as steep. There are more rocks and roots that require balance as compared to the grouse grind with mostly stairs. Parts of the BCMC trail are fairly worn out. Much less crowded than the Grind and more enjoyable .

Fairly easy hike. Only took us a little over an hour to go all the way to the top. Best bang for your buck on hikes since it’s relatively easy with amazing views you usually only get from longer hikes. Only downside is it’s a 3 hour drive from Vancouver. View isn’t as nice as garibaldi but much easier and shorter trail.

A very pleasant fall hike. Not too crowded on a Sunday at noon.

Even though it was misty/rainy the entire trek up, I think the mist made it quite beautiful.
I knew it was going to be a tough go, as I'd read lots of reviews on it.
I am a novice hiker, and while it wasn't a recommended hike for someone like me, I decided to try it anyways. Time wise, I looked at the "average" and estimated double for me. Looking at the elevation gain and distance, I knew I'd need more time, but I was bound and determined to do it. Had I not gotten a little lost near the top and wasted time looking around, I would have been under what I estimated, but as it turned out I was a bit over. For my first kick at it, it wasnt too bad.
I'll be making it an annual hike - will go out to Vancouver and will be a bit more prepared, physically, each time.

Really beautiful hike, lakes are stunning! Go to the last lake. It’s stunning! The mountains are amazing. I think some parts are on the hard side with the stairs and up hill, but worth the view. I clocked 10 kms but that would have been me exploring a little more. Was stunning!! I did it today. Soo many people though!

Quick easy hike, nice scenery and good terrain!

Great trail, not too steep anywhere. At the northern tip of this trail there's a suspension bridge. when we went in mid September, lots of bear warnings. This trail could easily be shortened. Water tap, washrooms and trail info near the car park.

We did this hike at the end of September and it was beautiful! We are unfit so the steady and sometimes steep incline up was a challenge but the lakes and waterfall were definitely amazing enough to warrant the struggle!

We arrived at 8.45 and there were barely any cars there so we had a nice and quiet hike. It got more busy later on in the morning. The lot was full when we left around 1 pm.

Rewarding hike. On a clear day, there are great views all along the way.

Fabulous hike with beautiful turquoise lakes and mountains with glacier above them. Entire trail was VERY icy and snowy on Thursday. Ice traction (e.g., yak trax) for your shoes or boots is extremely helpful as are trekking poles. Some people were sliding down on their butts in particularly icy sections (not for fun, but for safety). Highly recommend this hike! (In my 60’s and made it all the way to Upper Joffre despite the icy conditions thanks to my ice grippers on my running shoes.)

Fun, challenging path. Many people and dogs on the trail. View from Mt Seymour is beautiful and very windy. Wear layers and shoes with good treads.

The first bit is easy and flat (part of the Lynn Loop). Climb starts at Coliseum Mountain sign where it says “Allow 7 hours return”. That part took us 5 hours 25 mins return with lots of picture breaks. Probably best marked trail I’ve ever been on. Views up top are pretty!

Beautiful hike but very very busy - this was a Saturday afternoon. Very muddy and rocky after the middle lane and on route to the third lake.

Loved the second lake

Fantastic trail. Not recommended for novices runners/hikers.

Super gorgeous views! Very muddy and somewhat crowded but still worthwhile

Gorgeous trail and lakes, but SO CROWDED. Even on a Tuesday in mid September.

Hiked down after coming up the Grind. It is so beautiful and challenging in a fun way, requiring a level of concentration. It’s much less crowded than the Grind. Looking forward to going up another time!

Amazing. Very wooded trail & heavily forested.
Back-country Trail & NOT official, therefore not maintained !

Was pouring the whole way & had been raining last few days, so not the best time to visit perhaps for many. Muddy, large puddles, slippery, etc. But then having said that, on the bright side all the streams were boasting great roaring flows (& yes many streams to cross & lots of tree roots, large stones. Be careful sometimes the sturdy looking log/root/stone wobbles unexpectedly while the precarious looking one performs surprisingly stable !!).

I was doing the hike alone & then also rushed it coz started late. Gate closes 7pm.
Full return from Kennedy Falls took exactly 3.5 hrs BUT I would strongly recommend taking the time to do this. And that's the whole point anyways. Or else can be quite painful on joints and also dangerous. Typically 4.5 hrs would be reasonable.

---Proper foot wear---Proper foot wear---Proper foot wear--..........IS A MUST !!!

For rainy days need to be adequately prepared. Poncho worked best for me along with highly water-proof hiking boots. No real place to sit & picnic, etc. More like a full walk return hike with almost no stopping. Of course the falls at the end are completely worth it. However during drier times, might be possible to find a clearing or two enough to take rest but do need to carry a mat or something along to lay on the ground.

Definitely not for the casual hikers out there.
Need to be aware of surroundings & always on the look-out (mostly for correct foot placement but I've read in other reviews that Bear sightings have occurred).
Trail marking wise I would say not bad but not super easy either. Sometimes did have to look around for the next one. So better always to start early while daylight lasts. You really don't want to be caught in this place after dark.

Would do it again at the slightest chance !!

The most beautiful hike!

Great hike with a satisfying goal. if you're looking for a more challenging route, take a right up the hill when you reach the fork in the road. This will let you see some beautiful classic North Van scenery. It certainly is more of a challenge. You'll reach the waterfall in another hour once the paths rejoin. Once there, be aware of the crows! On the way back, take the other path for an easier route.

Sad to see this trail so crowded, can do with high heels on as the trail is much easier than years ago. Didn’t see any rangers , outhouses stink and even the area around middle lake near outhouses smells like urine. Overcrowded parking lots and the experience now “speaking for myself” is a major turnoff in the summer months.
Suggest going in the off season mid-week. Views are spectacular just minus the huge amount of people and slinky outhouses.

We arrived at 9.10 on Thursday morning and the car park was barely 1/3 full. The hike to Upper Joffre was moderately difficult for this 54 year old but certainly doable. It took my husband and I around 75 minutes to make it to Upper Joffre after stopping for many photographs of the spectacular lakes and surrounds along the way.

There are people coming and going from the car park so hang around and wait for someone to leave, it will probably only be a 5 minute or so wait.

A must do hike if you’re in the area - each lake is a beautiful turquoise blue colour.

Beautiful views!!! In light of the sight restrictions due to all the fire smoke this summer, we had spectacular views today. The 360 view from the top of the first peak were great. We were a
Little surprised to see snow clinging to the tops of some of the more distant mountains but it sure enhanced the scene.

Joffre Lake was breathtaking as usual. I recommend to arrive before 9 am for a good parking spot. The hike was enjoyable but it was over crowded during the long weekend. I would recommend going on a weekday if possible.

Hiked this beautiful trail today. no more smog and the air is 100% clear. The city started to force no parking rule along the highway. I arrived at 10:15 this morning and got the last spot at the overflow parking spot. People were forced to drive 2.5 to 5 km further and walk back to the trail head.

I backpacked this trail over Memorial Weekend and it didn’t disappoint. There were few crowds since it was shoulder scenic which I prefer. Scenic views with a very rewarding end at Upper Joffre Lake. There was still quite a bit of snow heading towards the upper lake and while I always wear gortex boots in these conditions, my microspikes made a huge difference in my experience. I took a risk and hammock camped and got really lucky to find a spot near the lake as there are very few trees around conducive to hammock camping. I’d highly recommend at least a night of camping because it truly is beautiful and you can spend a few hours hiking up to the glacier but I’d bring a tent so you’re not limited in options.
