Great hike to take visitors! Very easy hike, pretty views. I used spikes, & while they weren't needed the entire trail, most of it was pretty icy. Gusty today too! Brr!

Fun hike. It was a little sloshy after noon. Microspikes are fairly necessary.

This trail is a gem not to long but the views is amazing. Today the trail was covered in snow but very passable and just a treat to hike in mid January. I did have my Yaktrax on for traction but probably did not need them with the amount of snow on the trail. It did cost $9 to get into the park and parking is hard to come by. I got there early 9 AM and did not have an issue.

Very icy near the top. A bit of a scramble too, most dogs wont make it the last .4

Icy and snowy on trails! Need micro spikes or at the very least hiking shoes!

Hiked 1/12/2019. Lots of snow, microspikes are helpful. Trail is easy to find. Started at 8:30am, only passed a few people coming up, but trail was busy on our descent.

Beautiful views! Bring some micro spikes because the top has some pretty icy spots right now.

Great hike! Beautiful views throughout this short hike near Boulder. Hop over to Instagram @2_Summit_Up or my website here2summitup.wordpress.com to see more pictures of this awesome adventure.

Didn't need spikes today. Nice view at the top, quick hike close to Denver.

The trail is slightly elevated that gives good hiking experience but not harsh. We were there at the time of sunset. The sky at the backdrop of hills was beautiful and the view looked amazing.

Fun bit of exploring. Read the signs about the historic hotel site . . . Colorado's history is fascinating.

Great trail & great views. The flat irons are massive and amazing to see!

Well maintained trail. Gets icy so pack your micro spikes. The brass rattle snake near the trailhead is unsettling when you accidentally sit next to it. Easy trail to get to from the boulder area.

Got this one completed while hiking at Bear Peak Trail and Mesa Trail.

Nice hike, more moderate than hard, I was able to hike up and down in less than an hour, but definitely take some time to hang out at the top. Views of the flatirons are nice, and Boulder if you’re into that kinda thing.

Good low-country hike, already ice on the trail so microspikes are useful. Nice views of the continental divide from the top, especially if you go up to the left on a small offshoot from the loop after the designated lookout. Interesting little hotel structures left from about 100 years ago!

Patches of ice (Dec 18) but I was fine with hiking boots. Trekking poles or YakTracks would be helpful. I've done this hike many times. Enjoy it everytime!

Did this one yesterday. Great weather for it. Most of it in short sleeves. Some patches are icy in the beginning but enough trail dust you just have to pay attention and it went well. Bit more hazardous coming down. Great trail. Saw maybe 2 dozen people for the whole hike which is a slow day for this trail.

Dec 15. Sections of ice.

Wouldn’t say is hard- solid moderate. Short. Trail crosses rock slide which is fantastic. Trail takes you to back of first flatiron, which cool, is bit of anticlimax...

We hiked Dec 2 2018. it was mid afternoon and the sun was perfect on the shiny rocks. gorgeous. many parts were icy. the folks with micro cleats had no trouble. the folks in tennis shoes were slipping. easy gorgeous trail. the park itself is a true gentleman.

Nice hike, aptly named. Very easy at first with only substantial elevation gain before the top. A bit of snow and ice for the first third of a mile, but didn't need any traction. Definitely a nice little hike

windy at top. amazing views.
nice cool hike

Well-maintained trail with great views of the canyon. Some parts of the trail are icy - wear YakTraks if you have them and your trek will be much more enjoyable. Dog poop on the trail both in and out of bags. There is an $8 fee to enter the park.

Great hike, not too strenuous. If there is snow at the base of the trail, you might want to consider some good footwear, poles and some crampons. The trail can get quite slippery when going downhill, with risk of falling into the adjacent creek. It gets better after about 0.5 miles from the parking lot.

Tried to hike this today and it was covered in ice. Decided to turn back shortly after we started. Definitely recommend spikes at this point in the season, especially with the high winds we have had recently.

Great hike, I would agree with another poster that it’s moreso easy rather than moderate. There were a few icy spots, but we were fine without our spikes. Beautiful views, well maintained trail—I would come back.

love this hike! have completed it a couple times. great to take out of towners who want to see our beautiful canyons, feel accomplished, but not terribly difficult. lots of areas to stop and enjoy the views. fun seeing the rock climbers throughout the canyon. interesting history with the hotel ruins.

I love this trail. I completed it last month before the snow. The nature and views are beautiful. I loved watching the train pass in the distance. I am a Colorado native so I never really feel inclined to go back to most trails but I will definitely hike this trail again. There is an $8 fee to get into Eldorado State Park, or $5 to park outside the park and walk in, but you can tell the state park puts the money to good use. This has to be one of the cleanest trails I’ve seen. There aren’t too many tactical areas. I went counter clockwise at the loop, so going down the incline back to the trailhead was rather rocky and steep. I almost fell at one point, but it was only for a short stretch.

There are rattlesnakes so be careful, but don't miss out! This is a great workout for people looking to improve beginner hiking skills. Lots of great views, really cool area for rock climbers, and a little history hidden on the trail.
