Great hike! The trail is much wider than other trails I’ve been on. Not too steep.
The summit is amazing. There is a giant flat concrete slat at the top that gives amazing views and is a great place to hang out and have lunch with friends.

short hike to reach the falls.

Still my favorite in the area,

Great views. The hike is what I scored. Frustrated with the app, though. I recorded it and it didn’t save and wouldn’t let me share.

Awesome views and not too difficult. Took my 12 yo daughter and her friend and we did it with no problems. Really fun hike.

Beautiful View. Easy Hike! Make sure to park at Laurel House Road. Be very careful and stay on trails.

Some of the most gorgeous views ever- majestic!!!

Beautiful hike with an outstanding 360 degree view from the top. The piper trail offers diverse terrain - from a nice shady walk in the woods, to scrambling on boulders towards the top. I will suggest to keep an eye out for the yellow trail markings as they become pretty difficult to follow/ see once you are close to the summit. We had to turn around a couple of times because the safe way up was not extremely clear! Overall - one of the best hikes I have done this year! I saw many dogs on the trail, however, my older pup would not have been able to navigate through the steeper rocks towards the top easily, so I’m glad I left her at home!

Wonderful and scenic, this was a great walk.

This is the tallest peak in CT, so it should be noted that it is a fairly steep and steady climb the first 2 miles, up up up! it relaxes a bit after that until the last mile, we went left (instead of doing the paradise lane trail) to the summit and clocked it at 7 miles total. Not sure how this site is saying 6, because the paradise lane trail looks longer. The view is stunning and worth it.

Very pleasant 2.5 miles hike on a large carriage road. in different points, get out of the main road and get to beautiful view points.

Great hike went with a few friends and my pup everyone loved it! Took a dip at the waterfall! Easy trail

Totally worth the view up top! I didn’t make a loop, just went up and stayed left. Curious to try again and see if I can make a look up top.

Beautiful, peaceful hike. The falls are beautiful, went right after a couple days of rain

I’m an avid hiker so this hike was a piece of cake. I followed this route exactly and it was all very clearly marked. Beautiful views from the top!

Amazing waterfall and great views! Nice place to cool of in the summertime.

Interesting terrain - large rock formations, an old cemetery, old stone walls, old foundations and boardwalk into the marshland. A couple of steep climbs.

Super easy trail-good for families with children and older folk. Beautiful views of the lake!

Incredible views. Hiked this about a month ago. Moving moderately we did this in about 6 hours. Couple of short technical scrambling on the way up. Would not do in wet conditions. Views on top were some of the best. The very top has some scaryish inclined rock face to make it to the summit. Highly recommend and would do it again without question.

Trail turned out to be more challenging than we expected but overall and so far our best hike of the year! On the way back we haven’t met almost no one so it was freaky to feel alone in the woods but we made out alive , well and before the dusk. I wouldn’t recommend bringing small kids, inexperienced pets and elderly, elevation more that 1600 ft and for the most part you just keep going up like on stepmaster. Bring lots of water and be wise with time, you ‘ll be fine

Easy paved trail. Great views of the monument. Partially closed for renovations.

Great trail. Very easy hike. The blazes are a little difficult to find but still enjoyable

Fantastic hike. Stunning views at the top.

This is only for folks who are in great shape. You essentially climb Maine’s most difficult peak twice. There are easier ways to do this; the rangers at Baxter State Park do not recommend this “loop”.

some good challenging uphills, and the view from the top of bear mountain is stunning.

highest point in connecticut! pretty steep near the summit (lots of fun scramble-y boulders to climb), but the views were totally worth it. really beautiful mountain vegetation along the summit area, and all downhill from there. :) we stopped for lunch about 3 miles in; took about 6 hours including a few stops and some lounging/snacking at the top.

very nice hike, great views, a lot of history, took the blue tail back, definitely recommend ed
