Nice and easy to follow, the hike isn't that hard because the trail is in very good condition. If you are into scrambling, I'd suggest you look into the mount temple scramble. But go there prepared... We tried to follow folks that were going up but had no clue of the way, so we had to head back 1/3 of the way. Still gorgeous - we ended up going to eiffel lake and the Wenkchemna Pass following west crossing to BC. Big day but amazing. If you skip Mount Temple, and if doing both is too much, I'd suggest doing only Wenkchemna Pass

Excellent winter trail heading up wearing spikes. Very easy to follow route..

The trail was compacted well enough for us all to hike with just good quality boots.
While there are more challenging hikes around. This is a very enjoyable trail with a beautiful clearing as you reach the lake.
It was perfect during the day we went.

Awesome hike!! Would definitely do it again. Breathtaking views!!

great winter trail. The snow was very packed down, ended up not needing snowshoes. Easy to find and navigate.

Hiked from Lake Moraine over Sentinel Pass all the way to Lake Louise. Beautiful but long. Saw wolverines and heard glaciers calving. Highly recommended.

Strenuous but worth it, once you get through the switchbacks there’s a nice level plain with stunning views of the 10 peaks

Love this hike. Stunning views from the top with a picnic table to have your lunch. You can also sign a visitors book. Has some steep parts but overall a great hike.

Awesome snowshoe hike. The views are amazing and there was hardly anybody on the trail.
I’d rate it more easy than moderate, since the inclination is very gradual except for some hilly parts near the end. Took us
3 1/2 hours to complete it including snack and numerous photo breaks.
Can’t wait to see the lake in summer!

Connect to coxhill for a point to point. Great hike along nice open ridges

Great hike with stunning views at the top!! Nov 27/17 Trail was well worn so no spikes needed. Extremely windy on top.

One of my favorite trails near Calgary. Beautiful views, nice stops to have breaks. I would rate it as a moderate. Almost all trail it's easy, once you past the forest and enter to the praire, the uphill starts. After that gets kind of steep, but nothing crazy. It gets really windy on top.

decent hike. from the highway it's around a 7km drive to the trailhead up a gravel road. Go all the way up until you hit the end where the gate is. the trailhead is on the right side right before the parking lot. looks like a gravel service road. starts off easy with a 1km downhill walk which will destroy you on the way back. Rocky trail to mud to everything in between. at 3.3km you'll hit a big valley clearing where you can look to the right and see the peak. Roughly another 3km and you're at the top of the first summit. The base of that starts off decently steep and has around 6 switchbacks. Or you can go straight up and save time but make things harder. If feeling up for it you can go to the main/second peak where the fire/weather station is. Roughly about an hour extra. really windy and no shelter anywhere when you're up there. overall I'd say it's a moderate hike and could be done with dogs or even kids. 13km to the first peak from the parking lot.

One of my favorite trails. Various different sceneries. Then you reach the helipad and you have an amazing place to sit and relax as you have some snacks and rejuvenate before your descent.

lake was frozen so fishing was impossible

Went as far as Wall Lake, good place have lunch and enjoy the view.

great hike, good variety of terrain (trail, gravel, stone). starts with a decline then a gradual increase til moose mountain. once your at moose mountain the steep incline and snow starts til the top. it has a false peak then you go up another peak. it's cold and windy but great views.

Did this hike on Sunday Oct. 15th 2017 and it was amazing! A few minor patches of snow on the trail, more snow along the ridge. It was fairly straight forward on which trail to stay on, just keep an eye out for rock cairns or lines of small rocks that block off a splitting path. The trail is pretty steep until you reach the ridge, highly reccomend poles - especially for the way down as the trail got muddy.

Gorgeous winter hike! Views are spectacular! When you get to the lake, you may see some Whiskey Jacks, which are pretty grey and white birds. Hold your your hand with a little bit of trail mix, or some crust from your sandwich and they will eat right out of your hand.

completed this hike on Sunday, October 8. Decided to head to Moraine Lake very early to make sure we got parking so we were at the lake by 6:45 am and the parking lot was already half full. We started our hike right around 8:00 am and were pretty much the only people on the trail, a few coming down from Larch Valley. The hike to Larch Valley I would consider easy, it took us just over an hour to reach. The ascent to Sentinel Pass took a bit longer mainly due to the snow, roughly 1.5 ft in parts. I would recommend crampons and poles for sure for the pass, and for the way down. So many hikers were not prepared for the descent and were slipping and sliding on their way down. Crampons were a life saver. By the time we were descending the trail was SO busy and I would never do this later than an 8:00 am start time. Overall the hike to Sentinel Pass I would rate more as a moderate hike compared to some others I've done but the views are absolutely incredible and I will definitely do this again.

A great trail close to the city that is easy to access. You have to drive up a gravel road to to get to the trailhead. There is also a false summit that you will be fooled by. Makes sure to go all the way to the fire lookout station.

Great hike through the larches in the fall. It was incredibly busy though.

4 stars because the views are great but it is incredibly busy trail.

It's very beautiful trail, I did it on Sep.17, 2017. The 3 km in trail beginning is difficult, then flat, and finally climb a difficult steep big Z uphill to the summit.

Be prepared - gaters, crampons are essential. Did this yesterday on a windy, mostly cloudy day with constant light snow. View was partially obscured. Getting up the pass from Larch Valley was fine with crampons as the trail was very visible. However, we saw many ill-prepared hikers sliding and falling in runners - renting crampons will make your hike much more enjoyable. Going down the other side of the pass was very challenging. We saw only 1 couple coming up, so it was not trafficked enough for there to be a visible trail over the snow. We did a lot of guesswork, dodging rocks and ice patches, and ending up scrambling down knee-deep.

Good trail.

Great hike, easy. Tried to do the waterfall loop but too icy and snowy, will come to do that portion during the summer. Great views

Great hike, definitely not considered hard. I would consider this easy/ moderate. It’s laid out beautifully, nothing to intense. Slow and steady climb at first before reaching the valley and then a nice flat walk through with gorgeous views. Then another accent to the top. Trail is smaller and it was very very windy when we did it. The wind did play a big factor while going up. Big gusts made it difficult to ascend at times. We headed out very early with the fact in mind of how busy Moraine lake gets.. we started the hike at 8 am and the parking lot was half full but the trail itself wasn’t too busy - a lot of people were on the big rock at the start watching the sunset. Overall it was a beautiful hike, nice views and didn’t take to long which is always nice too, considering the drive from Calgary is a little longer ! 5.5 km up and took us 1.22 hours to reach the top !!

lots of snow on the trail , lots was melting and made for some muddy sections. The views were unbelievable! We will return in the spring or summer to further explore!
PS... trail head isn't clearly marked lol

Great trail! The initial approach along the Sawmill snowshoe trail is a bit boring, but once you start the ascent through the forest, and then out into the "whale back" limestone, it never stops being stunning.

It gets steep in a few places, which is the only reason I'd call it moderate. Otherwise it's pretty easy.

a lot of exploring to do up top, check it out, take a look around.
