Great out & back trail. It's been fairly warm here and the trail was relatively clear of ice and snow with the exception of a few patches. Crampons were not necessary, although we couldn't get all the way to the top due to high winds and lots of snow.

Went up last week, tons of snow and quite a bit of ice on the lower parts of the trail. Sunset was beautiful and it took 1 1/2 hrs to get up. (we were going really fast) plan for just over 2 hrs and bring spikes!

Challenging trail especially in the snow because some areas aren't very packed so you end up knee deep or more. Most people choose the Red Pine Trail over this one because it's a little shorter and a little less steep. This one is more peaceful because there were no other hikers just two skiers. I'll definitely try this one again when everything is thawed out more.

easy trail for sunday afternoon, bring your dogs 3 waste bags stations, no reason to leave anything behind

Such a beautiful hike. Nice inclines.

One of the most beautiful hikes I've done. Nicely snowpacked for the majority of the trail, just used microspikes and carried snowshoes which were helpful for the top near the lake and walking around the lake which was frozen and snow covered. Completed 3/11/18.

What an amazing trip up to Blanche today. The trail is hard packed all the way to the top. Snow shoes not needed to the lake but spikes are highly recommended. The sun was out and no wind. Even lugged up some ice fishing gear and landed 5 browns in only 20 min. Nothing above 10”. The action is fast due to lack of food right now I’m sure. The ice was about 4 feet deep and plenty safe. We head lumped early, but the trail was busy on our way down. Everyone was really respectful and nice and I was glad to see many people enjoying the amazing day. Happy trekking

Went up this trail 3/4/18 after a really solid snowfall in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Trail visible the first mile and a half or so from others doing some trailblazing, but then everything from there was covered in 2-3 feet of snow. Had to trailblaze with the snow to my hips but so long as you're prepared for that after a big snowfall, you'll be fine! Absolutely beautiful trail even in the winter, everything covered in white. If hiking in deep snow, make sure to check avalanche reports, have correct gear and don't go alone.

Beautiful trail, hiked it last fall and will do it again!

Awesome hike after a good snowfall. Could get away with hiking it with some good spikes. Didn’t need my snowshoes the entire time. The views were amazing at the top.

Loved this trail. Lots of beautiful scenery, and in late July the wildflowers were even more beautiful than the mountains! Ran into a moose sitting in the middle of the trail! It’s a bit of a challenge, but incredibly worth the effort!

Gorgeous and a must do in the wasatch. Combine with Raymond’s peak as well.

There was enough snow in the upper vale to make carrying the snow shoes worthwhile, crisscrossing over shallow streams and amongst the smothered boulders. Lots of little trees and awe inspiring views, from the spectacular ice falls to the crown of jagged peaks, and all the majesty of royal blue against the wintry white, black cliffs, evergreens, pussy willows, and rusty escarpments. A glorious morn!

Good snow as mentioned the trail is well packed and snowshoes are only necessary until you get close to the top. If you keep going past where everyone stops you are rewarded with fresh knee deep powder. At least until it gets tracked out

Hiked 90% in just snow boots, but should have put my snowshoes on earlier near the top. Started sinking and sliding a lot. First time in the snow for me - Much harder in the deep snow than on summer dirt. So beautiful at the bowls and pond!

Beautiful Hike! Wear layers. MicroSpikes are very very very helpful. Allow 2-3 hours to get to the top. Lake frozen, but Sundial Peak dominates the scenery. Totally worth it!

Great hike today, needed micro spikes after the bridge for the rest of the way up it was a bit icy. Towards the top the snow gets a little thicker, just stay on the trail it’s pretty well packed. All and all great work out about a med-hard steep but manageable.

Hiked up in normal hiking shoes, but snow cleats would have been a better choice. This trail is so lovely even in the winter!

This is a really cool place. I wouldn’t have expected it to be up there behind just the neighborhood

This is a nice easy family hike. My 5 year old had no problem. Beware as we saw needles and other drug paraphernalia towards the beginning of the trail head, but afterwards it was all natural beauty. The suspension bridge was awesome and overall it was a enjoyable experience.

Snowshoed with the full moon. Wonderful night. So beautiful seeing the moon in the meadow before the lake.

This is a beautuful trail. It's steep most of the way, there are no switch backs. It's about 5 mike's round trip. You need microspikes at this time, the snow is nicely packed with some slippery areas. I'd say it's a little tougher than moderate not too crazy hard because it's not super long.

Amazing hike! Went yesterday and trail was easily visible. Wore snow traction cleats and didn’t have a problem hiking to the end.

Beautiful hike. The lower parts are well packed down. After the split with Dog Lake the trail gets narrower and more spots where hiking boots fall through the trail. The hike was still doable in boots but it looked like it was more fun to cross country ski.

The trail was so beautiful today. We hiked up then missile shedded down.

Hiked on 1/27/18 without snowshoes, should have had them for the last 1/4 mile, I started post-hole-ing with my boots. It was rough, but still fun. Great hike! 2:12:00 round trip. Def gonna hike it again in the spring. It’s was med-hard (in snow) the 2nd half, but doable. Enjoy!

We got on the trail around 9 AM...only a few other cars in the parking lot. Trail is/was mostly visible due to previous skiers/snowshoers. Attempted to follow trail using AllTrails App, ended up cutting fresh trail for a while. Didn't make it the whole way up because the weather changed and snow was falling pretty hard. Visibility was low at points. Will be attempting again in a month or so.
